A Great Find
What a well kept site!
What a well kept site!
Our long weekend was all we could have wished for it to be on this beautifully kept Club site. The team of Wardens take a great deal of pride with their constant maintenance and the help they provide to members. The fact that the site was almost full - with many young families present at this time of year, meant that children needed to let of steam and enjoy themselves. This affected the peace and quiet sought by members but was well understood by the older element. Work being carried out rebuilding parts of the college had no adverse effect on our enjoyment but, one area worthy of note - the top of the driveway could be improved with so many vehicles entering the site and leaving it, and the cricket club - has made a series of fairly deep potholes tricky to negotiate with a caravan in tow! Maybe this is one for the Club's estates department?
Cirencester has something for everybody and is a delight to visit whether on foot, or by car from the site. A typical Cotswold market town with all they have to offer. Further afield, there are many other towns and villages and places of interest that deserve a little of peoples' time.
A good second visit
We first visited some years ago on a stopover en route to the south west, but decided we wanted to see more of Cirencester so booked for two nights. Site was far from busy mid week in May so plenty of choice. Warm welcome and very clear instructions given for the route into town through the park. Cirencester was a delight - despite the rain showers. We found a little cafe in the stable yard (down the side of the butchers) just down the little road on the left past the museum. Allowed us in with the dogs as they were not too busy but they also have a courtyard, which was a sun trap when the sun was out! The full breakfast include a coffee and was excellent. The Museum is well worth a visit (we took it in turns to wait with the dogs in the courtyard with the kind permission of the owner) and has some excellent Roman mosaics. Quite a lot of independent shops and some impressive old buildings. Nice field for the dogs on site. Facilities on site very good (including the bench seats rather than my bete noir - the plastic stool). Sensible that one block closes in the morning and one in the afternoon. However, be aware that they start closing up for cleaning ten minutes before 10.30 and if, given the very necessary one way system, you are emptying your motor home at the top block before you leave and want to quickly nip to the loo before you go, make sure you are in before 10.20!
Comment from The Club
Many thanks for taking the time to leave a review and we are sorry to hear your comments concerning the closing times of the toilet block. I have checked with the Wardens on site who tell me that this toilet block (TB1) is closed for cleaning each day between 10.15 and 12.00 and signs are clearly displayed on the doors to advise members in advance. It is always a good idea to check the closing times as they do seem to vary slightly from site to site. The other toilet block (TB2) closes for cleaning in the afternoon from 1400 – 1600 which means that facilities are always available. There are motorhome service points in each of these areas. I hope this helps to explain the way things work at Cirencester Park and thank you again for leaving a review.
As good as ever!
