Relaxing stay

I had a really nice time at Cirencester. It is a site I have been wanting to stay at for some time now and I was not left disappointed. The site is well spread out with a mixture of grass and hard standing pitches. I decided to stay on a nice grass pitch in a quite area of the site. it was blissful. you can explore the neighbouring estate and walk through it to get into Cirencester. All the local pubs were friendly places and Cirencester itself was a very welcoming and picturesque town. All the site staff i met were to the usual good standard and very chatty! I was actually a bit sorry i had to move on from this beautiful place. The fish and chip van that visits was well priced and very nice. (Curry sauce chips and fish!!).

Beautiful and spacious setting

We arrived at Cirencester Park in July in the middle of a downpour, so selecting and setting up the pitch wasn’t the easiest. The wardens were very welcoming though, despite the weather. The rain soon cleared away, giving us chance to explore. The site is quite large but still spacious, with plenty of room and good facilities. The dog walking area was big enough for plenty of dogs to have a run about. I would urge dog owners to please pick up after your dog. There are plenty of bins and even one right in the middle of the large dog walk area, yet still I almost stood in a dogs mess. The toilet and shower blocks were clean and modern and despite the restrictions, no queues encountered The site is just a 20 minute walk into Cirencester town through the lovely Bathurst Park, which is well worth walking through. The town itself is very quaint with plenty of nice shops and dog friendly pubs and cafes. We only stayed 2 nights en route to the south coast, so didn’t explore beyond Cirencester but I would definitely stay here again.

Excellent site and location but beware!

An excellent site in a wonderful location, well laid out and fantastic staff :-). Easy access to wonderful walks in parkland or into town. Be aware of the access road, It is single track, narrow, lined with boulders, has a blind bend at the start and the passing places can be challenging!! The safest way is for someone to go to the end of the road and stop oncoming traffic before you go down or up and use your mobile to communicate it will save a lot of stress! Do not arrive at the site early or leave later than the changeover time as that can add to the problem. Would we go again? Absolutely! it's a lovely site :-)

First Club Site Experience

We came here for our first club site experience on Friday 28th August for 2 nights on our way down Cornwall. This is a lovely site set in a beautiful landscape. The walk into Cirencester town through the park is stunning with the trees starting to change colour. The staff on site could not have been more friendly and helpful. They are constantly cleaning and tending to the grounds on site. We will definitely be back!... 5 Stars! :)

Post lockdown at Cirencester

Access road to site not as narrow as we had thought. This was our first visit here. Good size pitches & although a large site the layout gave small areas. Facilities were Covid safe and well looked after. Wrist bands given at check in & use of these at the toilets and shower ensured only 4 people using the facilities at a time. Warm greeting on arrival & wardens visible on site and friendly during the day. A weekly pizza van on site on Thursdays and fish and chip van on Tuesdays. Delight to be on the Bathurst Estate & the walk into Cirencester through the estate is beautiful. Excellent site for access to the Cotswolds, arboretum at Westonbirt, car museum in Burton on the water and National Trust properties. Great area for cycling and walking. Also quiet site for important relaxation!

Large but well laid out site and good location for the town, walks and buses

We had booked with a little trepidation given the comments on the access road but with a 7m motorhome decided that as others had made it onto the site we should be able to! We arrived shortly after 1.00 and still met a fellow motorhome leaving which gave us the challenge of reversing into the passing place. The boulders do make for extra concentration and I would not wanted to have done that towing a caravan. What is extraordinary is the original road is still there and then this new one as well - so why could it not have been a two way approach/departure?! I'm sure all concerned at the cricket and tennis clubs, the college and site visitors must all be both frustrated and perplexed at how the planners have managed to turn a simple solution into one that will only ever create damage, frustration and I'm sure eventually with some people a lot of anger. However the site is still as good as it's always been, the wardens still as welcoming and the convenience for the town and walking etc still makes it worth visiting the site. Interestingly the Bathurst Estate have started to open a number of trial circular 'dog walking' routes that allow for some further exploring locally. It is a shame about the access road but we will still return.

Great site for visiting cirencester

Lovely site - improved entrance from what it was years ago. The boulders people refer to are off the road so do not cause any problems whatsoever - just leave before 12 and do not enter before 1pm and there will be no problems. Walk into town through park during day is lovely. Town is brilliant and loads of nice places to eat.

Post Covid Cirencester

Cirencester was our second post lockdown trip and there is no doubt that towns and communities have changed because of the effects of Covid. However this site remains clean and well run, and the walk into Cirencester is lovely (and not too far). You are not supposed to ride your bike in the park but you can still cycle (safely) into town by leaving the site at the main exit. A lot of people are complaining about the access road. It is narrow and the passing places are inadequate. I am not sure how much control CAMC have over this, but as I cannot see what purpose the rocks placed on each side of the road fulfil, perhaps these should be removed or at the very least painted white?? If you are unsure of your driving skills perhaps do not stay at this site or do not turn up early - give those leaving plenty of time to get out!!!

Insane access road

We love this site so it was one of our 1st visits booked for after lockdown. Didn't look at any reviews before we left as we know the site, or so we thought. Oh dear that was a mistake. We arrived at 12.52 and thought its ok we're only 8 minutes early. We were just about to turn onto the access road when we were flagged down by a car who told us to wait as there were several cars all leaving. Trouble was there were parked cars all down the side of the road so all the leaving cars had to squeeze between us and the parked vehicles (dread to think if it was another large rig coming, not sure how we would have done it). last car came through and then we entered the the new road that not only is very narrow but lined with caravan killing boulders! Just the right height to jam under the chassis if you have to move even fractionally to the side of this very narrow road. To make matters worse when entering you cannot see if anything is coming until you are already committed. Even negotiating this dog leg bend was fraught as the boulders are lined up both sides. There are passing points, fine for cars orl motorhomes but in no way are big enough for car and caravan, so if two of you are entering and leaving it makes for gridlock. And yes they ask that all should depart by 12 and all arrivals after 1pm however this doesn't help if you want to go out in the afternoon in your car and there are lots of arrivals you are kind of stuck at the site at busy times. Another ridiculous thing about a road purposely built for large vehicles is there's no pavement so even walking up or down this road is fraught with danger. At places there is literally no where to go to get out of the way of any vehicle unless willing to climb a totally weed covered ridiculous bank of earth!!!!! I realise the club is just a tenant but surely they could get the collage to have these ridiculous boulders removed. or the dirt bank made smaller to make the road wider. Even just a little drift on the back end of a large twin wheel rig that we have could have spelt disaster. The only other option to rescue the problem would be traffic lights that could be operated by the wardens. Sadly until this road is sorted we won't be returning. As I said it's not just the arriving and leaving with your rig but just arriving and leaving in general with the car at times there were traffic jams just to leave. The site as alway was lovely. Although I was surprised there were no hand sanitisers at the shared water/service areas. If you are going to this site and you have a big caravan I would recommend sending a passenger down to the bottom of the road before setting off to make sure nothing is coming the other way and then ring to tell you when to enter.

Access Road could ruin your holiday

We stayed at Cirencester Park on 14th August for the weekend. We love this site and stay here to see family in Stroud. However, the access road is unsafe and placing boulders all the way along a narrow access road with passing places not long enough for a large caravan and car is asking for a lot of compensation claims. Sadly we have to agree with all the other comments so Caravan Club please remedy this in some way. Remove the boulders for a start! Also why has the CC not put solar panels on all their shower blocks?
