Great improvement to entrance road

What a massive improvement the new approach road is compared with the dreadful potholed road it replaced. Yes it is narrow, but there are passing spaces and once round the first bend you can see 200m, so with care will be able to pass anything coming in the opposite direction. It would be useful if the wardens did the same as at the Chatsworth site where there is an equally tight approach, and put out a sign on the Stroud road which clearly states that no unit should pass that point until the 1300 opening time! We have been staying at this site for over thirty five years and will continue to do so.

FAb site ruined by visitors

My wife and I have just returned home from the site. Firstly I would like to thank the staff for their efforts in keeping the site as clean and tidy as possible in these challenging times. Without those efforts we could not have the sites open. Their job is not totally risk free. We love this site and this is the first time out in our van since March. The staff were wonderful but the people visiting the site, not all but some, need to take a good long, hard look at themselves. The system of 4 bands outside shower and toilet block is fool proof. If people adhere to the rules. I was washing my hands in the gents and a man walked in. I knew I was the 4th person in there so he should not have entered. This morning my wife was waiting outside for her turn and a woman walked up, no band and marched straight in, and past her. As did another while she was in there. You people know who you are. Stop acting like spoilt kids who must have your own way. The system can be robust if we all adhere to the rules. So stick to them. So what are the rules? Each person is given a wrist band on checking in. A band must be taken to the toilet and shower block and hung on a hook at the entrance. If there are 4 bands on the hooks you are not permitted to enter until someone leaves. maximum 4 persons inside at a time. Not 5 or 6 because you feel rules do not apply to you. When leaving the block collect your band to highlight the number of people within. Ie 3 bands. means 3 people inside. this allows 1 more person entry. Leaving bands on the hooks when you leave gives a false reading to the amount still inside. So, stop being selfish and think of others. This virus kills. I do not want to become a statistic because of other peoples selfish and ignorant attitudes. I can probably guess that neither do you want to become a number on a chart but that is what you will become if you carry on the way you are. No doubt if the club closes down sites you will be the first to complain and want a refund. Remember if they close you are the reason.

Easy walk to town and location in Bathurst Estate make this site special

The X-Factor of this site is location within Bathurst Estate - from 08:00 to 17:00 you can spend literally hours walking many miles in beautiful parkland. Also lovely 20 min walk into town. We also liked: a) layout of site/ pitches with many trees and hedges providing privacy and quiet despite it being big site and completely full during our visit; b) facilities kept very clean; c) social distancing well managed during Covid-19 era. Room for Improvement: a) Poor signage on big site - easy to get confused/ lost; b) Some examples of poor maintenance (e.g. split hose pipe making it impossible to wash out chemical tank); c) Site seems to attract dog owners/ lovers; some aggressive/ not well behaved/ noisy . Overall love this site and will be back!

1st Stop Cotswolds

Stayed 3 nights for the first few days of our tour of the Cotswolds. The site was very busy but well organised. Wardens were excellent and facilites spotless. I was hesitant to use the facilities but decided one evening to use the shower block. Any anxiety I had previously felt had been unnecessary. It was easy to distance from other holidaymakers and plenty of opportunity to use hand sanitiser. Whilst there were quite a few children on site we weren't bothered by them even though the children's play areas were closed due to Covid restrictions. The access road isn't ideal but manageable with a motorhome but am sure towing would be more tricky.

Post Lockdown Visit

Cirencester Park was our first escape since December last year. It is a site we have been to before several times so we are familiar with it and its surrounds. The overriding concerns prior to going this year was the new access road. Like others I had seen videos and photos so I suppose I knew what to expect. The reality, at least with a motorhome, was pretty straightforward. On entering the road the sight lines are not particularly good but once on the road proper you have pretty good vision. We didn’t meet anyone on the way in so our arrival was easy enough. On the way out there were a couple of cars coming towards the site so I just waited for them to pass. We met one other car which kindly pulled into one of the laybys making it easy for us to pass. The arrival was well organised by site staff. We were asked for our membership card and what type of pitch we had booked and asked to enter the site and come back later to pay. Only one person in reception at a time. Once payment complete I was given the access fob and two rubber bands to the toilet block as part of the COVID restrictions. We never used the bands as we used our own facilities and I don’t do queuing for toilet blocks!! We had a serviced pitch which had a slight rearward slope which suited our motorhome so no other levelling required. Bollard included a TV connection. Quite why this was immediately above the tap I don’t know. I do wish the Club used F sockets rather than Co-Ax connectors. This site is 38 years old and perhaps would be planned differently if it was built today. No clearly defined paths to the toilet block or service points where we were so a lot of people walking between pitches. My Club WiFi subscription should have run out by now but luckily it had been extended by a couple of months for free which was nice. The site is very convenient for the town of Cirencester, particularly on foot. Two options, either walk back to the main road but much nicer to walk down past the cricket and tennis clubs and through Cirencester Park. Nearest supermarket is an excellent Waitrose about a mile from the site. Cirencester is a lovely market town with transport links. Don’t be put off by the new road.

Nice site, park next door, good for dogs!

We enjoyed our recent stay at this site. Even with the Covid chaos it was really pleasant with plenty of green space. The proximity of the Bathurst estate is great and makes for a nice walk into the town where there are some great attractions and places to eat. Almost everyone has mentioned the access road... I have to agree that it is FAR from ideal, but you only have to run the gauntlet once on the way in and once on the way out (unless you have a motorhome!), which in itself would be easier if people didn't turn up earlier than specified....

Good Location but access needs looking at

Finally managed to get the caravan out of storage and booked few days away in Cirencester. Loved the well maintained site and the site managers couldn't be more friendly and helpful. Toilets and showers are regulated with an armband system on a hook outside. When the hooks are full you can't enter. We thought this worked really well, except when people inevitably forgot to collect their band on the way out so it looked like there were more occupants than there actually were. As early risers we never had a problem getting a shower in the morning. The site is a great location to walk into Cirencester through the park and there are many other very attractive Cotswold villages and National Trust properties within easy reach. The only downside was the single lane access road with passing places. Although recently been worked on, it's very difficult on approach to the first bend to see if anything is coming. Some tree and bush trimming could cure that but if two outfits are entering or leaving together is doesn't take much to get a log jam. High banks and tall weeds also hinder the view ahead. However, it would not stop us visiting again.

Great site apart from access road

This was our fourth visit and we’ve enjoyed it every time. It was useful this time to be near the excellent dog walking field. It is a lovely quiet site despite being massive. We like the easy walk into the town. We were taken aback by the new access road to the site - lined with massive boulders - a real nightmare even for passing cyclists let alone another vehicle. The previous road was fine. I am reluctant to go again now! Such a shame. My main criterion in choosing a site is ‘how easy is the access’. Sorry but I don’t like risking my motorhome on boulders such as these! We checked another nearby site out while there and will go to the alternative next time. I see that another reviewer has said the access road apparently can’t be altered as the Club is just a tenant - but surely a tenant has some right to negotiate on access issues. Business will be lost if not.

The Nightmare Road to Cirencester Camp Site.

Everything about this site is lovely except the stupid design of the entrance road. The old pot holed road was much better. This road is narrow, snake like with huge boulders down the side and passing points that are in such stupid positions that by the time you see something coming towards you it is too late to get into the passing point completely unless your rig can move sideways. Whoever dreamt this up obviously has no qualifications in road planning. I except that as long as you don't meet anyone than the road is just about ok, but upon leaving last friday we met a very large caravan rig coming in. He should not have been there as entrance is after 13:00 and it was only 11:20 but he was there all the same. I had a larger camper van behind my caravan and a motor home behind him. My wife had to get out to wave the oncoming rig down to get into the passing point to the side of us (which he probably couldn't see). He couldn't quite fully get in there so we had to move very slowly passed him, I reckon there was less than 2" between the side of my caravan and the back edge of him whilst all the time keeping an eye on the stupid boulders on the side of the road. If another caravan had followed the oncoming one down then I think we would still be there now. We love Cirencester Park, have been numerous times but we won't be going again until something is done with this road. As someone else said, "It's an accident waiting to happen and it's not going to be my rig that gets damaged.

ACCESS ROAD

Hi Just had a great time for the second year running in this Park. The Access road is an accident waiting to happen! I feel really sorry for the staff there as they are great and very helpfull Some idiot has placed boulders the whole length of the already very narrow road! The passing places cannot been seen until you are on them, then they are two small for an average size unit. The boulder sizes are just right to rip the side out of your £70000.00 motor home or £30000.00 caravan! The club state they cannot do anything about the situation as they are only tennent's, I would have thought the size of the club and amount of use for the road would normally have, they should have had some input into it.! If it stays as it is I feel the site will not be used as much as it should as the word gets around, you cannot afford to put your rig in jeopardy by someone who has not really thought out the road situation, there is also a bottle neck at the club entrance which could be sorted out without too much trouble I for one will not be going back to Cirencester Park till the road situation has been addressed If you use the park please be very carefull whilst on this very narrow boulder lined one way road Keith Howard
