Fabulous location

This is a very popular site in a superb location, so don't be surprised to find it pretty full most of the time. But that said it is well laid out, and seems to be able to absorb the numbers without any problems or inconvenience. The on-site facilities are kept clean and tidy, and the pitches are a generous size and well spaced. The wardens are very friendly and helpful when needed. Access to the town is a pleasant and easy 10 min walk. There is plenty to keep you occupied in and around Cirencester. We would recommend a visit to the Corinium Museum if you are interested in the history of the town and its surroundings. There are also a lot of walking possibilities direct from the site through the park. Unfortunately that can't be said for cycling. There is no cycling allowed in the park, and the local roads are very busy. Some people might be OK with the volume of traffic, but we were definitely not. Finally, unlike the reviewer below, we had no issues with the access road . . . . It's simple - you drive according to the conditions.

Follow the arrival and departure advice.

Much has been said in many reviews about the access road and the large stones and from our experience of visiting this site those concerns are fully justified. Do follow the arrival and departure advice, if you don’t then you could face some difficulties! The site itself is starting to look a little tired as are the facilities albeit the wardens had started to grout the male toilet showers when we were there. It is as described a very large site with some spacious pitches, but if you want fully serviced you really need to book well in advance. Of over 200 pitches only 16 are fully serviced and considering the cost of caravans why are there so few fully serviced pitches to allow full use all the equipment vans now offer. The Wi-Fi on the site is also very poor. The site is well located in regard to Cirencester and the Cotswolds in general, with a lovely walk into Cirencester through the park, though there is apparently a move to charge access to visitors in the near future. The site could perhaps do with some investment.

Good location, lovely site and helpful staff.

Second time of staying. Good Location walking distance into town. Clean and helpful staff. Lovely meal on Tuesday evening, African BBQ chicken, different meals on offer most evenings. Quiet site, we do go away in the week and avoid school holidays, can't control other campers behaviour. Not sure on comments on the road. New road surface, with passing places and if you follow the guide lines and arrive and leave between times given did not meet anyone coming in the opposite directon. Will visit again.

Lovely site and staff

Our first visit to this lovely site. in view of other reviews regarding the access road to the site we were concerned about meeting other road users but we arrived at 13.30 and left at 10.30 and did not meet other vehicles in either direction. A friendly, and helpful warden, with a great sense of humour, dealt with registration swiftly and positively. The site and facilities were well maintained throughout our stay. The main dog walking area is very large and the grass cut short making it easy to clear up. Good for dogs and members to socialise. The site is next to Cirencester park, which is good to walk in and through to Cirencester. The town has a good variety of shops with M&S Food in the town and both Tesco and Waitrose on the outskirts. A market takes place on Fridays. This is a good site for visiting the Cotswolds.

Nice site, shame about the access road.

We stayed here for 3 nights in September. The access road is diabolical, and certainly not for the faint hearted. If it were not for the large boulders, some hidden in the long grass, this would be far easier to negotiate. The site itself is lovely. Nice sized pitches, and lots of different areas to choose from. The walks from the site through the park and into Cirencester are lovely and a visit to Beano, the airstream coffee shop, is a must. Sadly despite the site having a wonderful large dog walk, where dogs can run off lead.. people still abuse that facility and leave their dogs mess behind! Why do people think that this is acceptable behaviour? It is no wonder that some sites do not have a dog walk at all, and that so many places to visit do not allow dogs. 🥺 We arrived on Wednesday, and it was lovely and peaceful both that night and on the Thursday. On the Friday night, when we walked our dogs at about 9.30 pm, there was a group of young families having a get together opposite a toilet block. The young children were flying around on wheeled toys and little dogs chasing after them with no leads etc. We felt for the one warden on his cycle, who was trying to see which units the various children and dogs were from. Luckily we were on another part of the site, but had we been nearby, i would have felt quite uncomfortable about the situation. It would seem that club rules are becoming very hard to adhere to. Such a shame, as we tend to choose the club sites as I am an anxious person and like the security that has previously come from using them.

I was enjoy my stay up to day 18 of 21.

When arrived at the site I asked the protocol for parking my vehicle as some of the pitches where small. The answer was either at the side of the caravan or at the front if you have an awning (as per the instructions on the leaflet). Like a good caravanner I erected the awning and assessed the space at the side to ensure I could park there, which there was. Taking into consideration I have not travelled very far in 18 days due to the fuel shortage. One day 18 I take my awning down at this point the car has moved 3 times in 18 days returning the same spot each time. Within 2 hours of taking down my awning the 3 not 1 not 2 but 3 members of staff are at the door of the van giving me a polite talking to regarding my parking of the car suggesting that I park at the front of the van or at the side where there is room for the awning. If it was the police on the street stopping me I would consider it harassments. I did highlight the above to the team of 3 and that I felt it was a little heavy handed and late in the day after 18 day!! This put a downer on what was up to this point a lovely stay.

Avoid at all cost

Arrived at the site no issues with arrival pleasant signing in. We booked 3 nights 2 adults and 3 dogs which are very well behaved. Site is looking a bit dishevelled and really needs some TLC. Took the dogs over the dog park gave up due to the amount of dog mess people really spoil it for others. Settled down to a quiet afternoon and there was a family having a birthday party 5 caravans all together so a large crowd. I have no issue with the party but it is the behaviour of the children who were left to do whatever they won't, this including doing circles on their e bikes on our pitch. Manger came along and explained that there is a children's area but they just carried on doing what they wanted and ignored him. When I went to complain to the staff who's name I won't mention I was told that they have had problems with this family in the past. I asked why aren't they implementing their own rules and I was told they can't because they are club members. Will not be retuning.  I did not give this site 5 stars I scored 1 on 3 of the questions so the rating they give themselves

Don’t go!!!

As previously mentioned it’s the access road! It’s dangerous. We arrived and were stuck in one one of the passing places barely big enough fir a small caravan let alone the size of some of the outfits and Motorhome Sa now. It is all so unnecessary! The hidden boilers the dog leg bend at the start when you can’t see what is coming round the bend......just why??? Then the queue to get in which prevents anyone getting off the site or back on to it. Shame as it’s a nicely placed site and kept reasonably tidy but we would not return because of the access stress not only on arrival and departure but also whilst staying on the site. It’s not worth it and it beyond understanding how anyone could have thought up such a stupid, unsafe idea. Dread the thought that there was an emergency on site as emergency vehicles would not get in...........or out! Sincerely hope the C&MH club have a serious rethink......this is not a logical or sensible route into a very large and extremely busy site. Oh and also factor in students meandering down the road with headphones on and you have a disaster waiting to happen!

Great site, shame about the access road.

Our second visit to this excellent large site, the first being this time last year. First the bad news: Last year the tortuous access road had been remodelled, so I can only imagine what it was like before that! It was still hard to get up if meeting oncoming traffic (the lane services other places as well as the CAMC) but the boulders were very obvious. This year, because foliage and weeds have returned to the previous bare soil, the boulders are largely hidden, so beware. Might I suggest an answer? Another, non-Club, site I visit, has a similarly narrow and long access road. The owner has put a very directly-worded, very obvious sign at the start of the lane, saying new arrivals MUST not go any further until 13.30, while leavers must go before noon. In this way, a caravan only risks meeting a car, not an outfit. With that out of the way, the site is lovely. It's on the outskirts of a very large park with easy pedestrian access to the town and is very quiet at night. Dogs have a great field to romp about in off-lead, as do children (also off-lead). Facilities are what we expect and appreciate, and grass pitches in particular are very spacious (though in great demand so early birds tend to get these worms). Some pitches though are shadier than we would want, so take care. For walkers, Cirencester Park has many miles of great wooded paths, and excellent footpaths begin close to the entrance. We were there for five nights and didn't need to move the car once. Yes, access is irking. But it wouldn't put me off returning.

A very nice site but the access road is a nightmare

It is a lovely site, in a great location, and provides everything you would expect from a C&MH Club site. However, as commented in reviews by other users, the access road presents some real issues if your are unfortunate enough, as we were when leaving, to meet some early arrivals. It created an extremly difficult situation and really put a spoiler on an otherswise very pleasant stay. Definitely we will not revisit, it is a last resort. We were leaving, as required by the site, before 12:00 noon, and were fortunate to be by the layby nearest the site, before the first van arrived. We managed to get past despite the other driver making little effort to assist the process. Unfortunately, we were then confronted by a second van, at the end of the lane, where there is a smaller layby. The driver was probably the most inconsiderate, unhelpful and unapologetic person we have ever met, who had no concept of the probelem they had created, but were very well rehursed in reasons why they could not help solve the problem. We can only assume they were together and trying to get onsite to secure adjacent pitches. The C&MH procees of securing a pitch may tend to encourage early arrival? We eventually managed to manoeuvre the vans, and got past, but it was very difficult. I agree, it seems the lane layout is deliberately designed to create maximum stress when two units meet. We cannot understand, either, in a Club, why members cannot just help each other, and be nice! In some respects we hope they were not allowed on site early, and that there is a process for reprimanding inconsiderate behaviour. I understand the site guidance requests members to be mindful of arrival, and departure times, requesting no arrivals before 1pm. Considering the issues raised in other reviews, whilst fixing the access road to be something more appropriate for a busy site with over 200 pitches, would be best, putting a member of staff at the road entrance to admit arrivals only after 1pm would create a safe, low stress, period for departures.
