First time we’ve been to this site.
It’s a large site but doesn’t feel it as the design of the site created pockets of pitches creating privacy.
We chose to stay on a serviced pitch and paid top dollar £37 pn happy to pay this for the location but site needs attention.
Staff great!
Toilet block standard for the club. Disappointing one was closed, even though site was busy.
The pitches were not well looked after. Grass and weeds on many of the hardstanding pitches. Grass cut whilst we were there but it was left too long therefore making it difficult to see where dogs had done their business.
Yes, I know it’s not the fault of the dogs, it’s the dogs owners.
Moving to single rubbish bin area is not convenient. It would help if this area was marked on the site map. It would also be appreciated if bus stops were marked on the hand drawn map or at least pointed out to visitors.
Location is a big plus access to Bathurst estate and walk into Cirencester.
This review is about the site.
All of the niggles are fixable but having read other reviews it’d appear the same points have been raised before.
Our first visit to Cirencester and an ark would have been better than a caravan. The rain was of biblical flood proportions, rendering the grass pitches out of use. The site was very, very full and we had some difficulty in finding a pitch and cannot see why people who arrived even later than we did had pitches reserved for them. We cannot find any mechanism for reserving pitches. We did consider asking to upgrade, but having been refused at another C&MC site (even though the "posh" pitches were not used during our stay) we decided not to ask. One facilities block was due to close for the Winter just after our stay, which with such a busy site might be a problem. Access to Cirencester Park was welcome, but the hours were quite restricted. Despite all of this we will be visiting again!
Cirencester Park is always a fantastic site to visit; the facilities are clean, the wardens are lovely and the access to the Bathurst estate is amazing. It's very dog friendly with a great off-lead dog walk on-site as well as the estate itself being a short walk away. If visiting Cirencester itself, be sure to stop off at Knead bakery for a lunch or treat!
A special mention has to go to the head wardens this year for making me and my parents feel very welcome each time we visit. Whenever we've had any issues or questions they've been easy to talk to and quick to figure out a solution. Thank you! (:
We use this site regularly for weekends and short breaks as we are relatively local. We love the site and the location. We were a little surprised with the decision to remove all rubbish and recycling to an area outside the main campsite on the other side of reception. We totally understand the rationale of less plastic waste but this only really works if you drive out in a car every day. It's a very long way away from many of the pitches and this will probably put people off sorting their recycling. We still thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
We were welcomed happily on arrival and all the wardens were friendly, with time for a chat.
A good site for visiting the town. Pitches were a good size but as mentioned before too many weeds and nettles on them, also far too many pitches squeezed in wherever possible.
Toilet blocks were nice and clean
Easy walk to the town where it is mainly independant businesses and a Tesco express.
Nice walks through the estate requiring a pass for £10 that is refundable until 10am on day of your departure
Also a very pleasant walk to The Source of the River Thames mainly through the grounds of the agricultural college.
There were several vehicles ignoring the one way system and many dog owners not keeping their dogs tethered on the pitch despite a dog walk for off lead and a couple of dog pit stops.
A good location if you are touring with a car but very busy roads for those using cycles so for this reason only we would not probably visit again
Great location and well maintained site. Bathurst Estate and facilities were wonderful. Well positioned for visiting The Cotswolds and surrounding areas. One unpleasant officious male warden spoiled our arrival. Perhaps CAMC should ensure such wardens have further customer service training.
Contrary to the previous review we found the site clean, tidy and well kept. Is the fact that the railings needed painting really going to have an impact on your stay!!?
The staff were very friendly, the lower toilet block was clean and our pitch was well kept. The walk through the Bathurst estate is nice although you now need a pass. Cirencester is a lovely town with lots of shops and restaurants.
We have stayed at this site many times over the last 40 years always enjoying its location and the ability to walk into Cirencester through the Estate. But on a recent visit we were very disappointed at the general state of the site. The toilet block badly needed the woodwork staining and the railing needed painting. We stayed on a hard standing pitch which had weeds, nettles and moss growing on it as did the majority of the hard standing pitches we looked at. If this is the club reducing the amount of weed killer used, then an alternative method needs to be found. We felt that the general appearance of the site was unkempt. Whilst we support the club in trying to reduce the use of plastic and have no issue with there being one rubbish/recycling area, surely the logical location should be central, not at a point furthest away from all pitches ie just as you enter the 25 acre site?
Really excited about visiting this site as we like Cirencester as a place.
Really enjoyed our stay from the minute we arrived. The wardens were very friendly and we had a great welcome. Facilities were spotless and loved the fact we could access the bathhurst estate free for the duration of the stay.
Great visiting pizza company twice a week.
Really hard to find any faults.
Slight niggles were having to take the rubbish to the front of the site, bollards were not near the pitches so a long extension is required especially as tv reception is poor.
Club WiFi is not good and reception is not the best .
Loved the fact that it was quiet and relaxing and friendly.
It’s a great site .
The staff are generally helpful and pleasant if sometimes officious. The location is good for access to the town. There are Restaurants and supermarkets within a short drive. The Driveway is however at times a challenge.
The Toilet / shower blocks are good - NO timed showers, which is a bonus.
Rubbish Bins - AWFUL (AWFUL) they seem to have thrown away the site's USP by removing all bins. You now have to trek back to the exit side of reception to the allotted area.
