Lovely river walk

Come to Cheddar frequently.Lovely site very walkable into Cheddar make sure you turn left and use steps into Cheddar not out onto main road .Stewards very hard working and friendly. The floral pots best I have ever seen on club site .Ideal for dogs as lovely river walk from site which was ideal as I was there in the hot weather and was walking my dog to shallow river to cool off .Looking forward to my return visit in September

What's not to like?

This is a really nice Site and in a great location. The Wardens are smashing. They are there if you need them but not " in your Face". We find them friendly & helpful and this Site is a credit to them.

What a gem

Have visited this site twice, now, and on both occasions have been met with a very friendly welcome from the extremely hard-working wardens. The location is ideal for motorhomers due to the proximity of local supermarkets and frequent bus services to Wells and Weston-super-Mare. There are lots of attractions for families in Cheddar itself, and many interesting hostelries and tea rooms for those not wishing to cater. At the time of our first visit, last year, the current wardens had only just taken over the site and even before our departure, the changes they had brought about were already noticeable. On our most recent visit, in May, it was apparent that there had been lots of hard work going on and despite the lengthy hours they work, both of them always have time for a chat and to offer the benefit of their local knowledge. All in all, a gem of a site for many reasons, and one which we shall visit again in the future!!

Wow!!

What a great site! Well spaced pitches and beuitiflully maintained grounds. The floral display at the entrance is very colourful and welcoming. The toilets and showers are always spotless. We had a great welcome from the wardens who work tirelessly outside all day and are always available in the reception for help and advice which is given with a smile and a laugh The area is great with several walks from site and the added bonus of the Strawberry Line which is a disused railway line excellent for cycling. The caves are worth the visited no matter your age.

Nice site

We used this site for a few nights stop over on the way to Cornwall. A really nice site, though a bit tightly squeezed in. The site and facilities were lovely and clean though think the toilets and showers are due for an upgrade/modernisation. The shower cubicles are very small with hardly any room to move. Surprised with the attitude of the wardens. Female hardly ever smiled or engaged in conversation though when I asked about parking in Wells she did give me a tip!. Male I didnt see smile at all and even when I waved when passing felt I was wasting my time. Didnt hardly see them even though had to walk past the office when using the facilities. On our travels an unusual experience. Wondered if they realise they are in the 'hospitality' industry, maybe some training in customer service might help or are they in the wrong job. Having said this as we were only there a few nights this didnt bother us and would probably use this site again if in the area.

Super stay

We are on the site this week, lovely well maintained site with friendly wardens. Well positioned site in a quiet area of the town. The town has anything will might need, good Sainsbury's and Tesco. The road into the site is VERY NARROW so don't arrive before 1pm but don't let that put you off staying here it is a wonderful site.

Superb little site

We stayed at Cheddar as a base for exploring the coast around Weston and then inland to Longleat. As a family with two young boys (5 and 3) i was slightly concerned at the lack of play area however I shouldn't have been. The majority of people staying (half term) had children or understood that as it was half term there would be children staying on site, our boys soon made friends and we really enjoyed our stay. The wardens really were the best we have come across so far. Nothing was too much trouble and the site was immaculate - a real credit to the Caravan Club. We will be back!

Very busy at the Bank Holiday weekend

Visited over the spring bank holiday weekend. Arrived the Thursday before and found a great pitch. The site is well kept and very clean. It is only a 10-minute walk to the town centre and a further 5 minutes to the Gorge. Dog walks are close to the site with a lovely riverside walk and mown area for some much-needed doggy exercise time. The only negative comments would be that as the site got busier it's lost its charm. When full there are too many caravans for the size of the site. There is no dedicated car park and some pitches had three cars parked on them for one caravan, The only car parking area was being taken up by a caravan (not a late night arrival). There are no children's play areas in or close to the site so they have to make their own entertainment usually including the area in and around the toilet block. All in all a lovely site close to Cheddar but not one we would visit on a bank holiday weekend again.

Nice but compact site

Nice site within walking distance to Cheddar village and Gorge. Site quite small and compact and the units can be quite close, if you like space perhaps this is not for you. Hardstandings limited, we booked a hardstanding but when we arrived at about 4 pm they where all gone so had to make do with grass, the ground was firm even though the grass was wet, weather unsettled while we where their so it didn't do the site justice but as we used it as a stopover we cant complain.
