We have stayed here before in our Motorhome, in the Summer. This time we stayed in November for a 3 x day break.
As before, staff were lovely & helpful. The site was very well kept & maintained, and the toilet/shower block, though small, was very clean etc.
We walked to Cheddar Gorge from the site, which didn't take long at all - firstly visiting all the lovely Xmas shops that are now parading their goods. There are some lovely eateries there. The one we frequented, and had a lovely afternoon meal, was the Riverside Inn, at the start of the walk into the Gorge area. Next day we climbed Jacobs Ladder, and walked over the top of the Gorge where there are wonderful views of the whole area, and returned via the road back into the village - all in all, about a 2.1/2hr walk.
If the site could make a couple of improvements for the future, the first would be the relocating of the Motorhome Service Point. It is inconveniently placed next to the toilet block, and just in front of the exit barrier - thus, if a Motorhome is using the facility, another vehicle will not be able to get out, as there isn't enough space. I get why its there - because of the drains/water etc., for the toilets - but I would even consider forsaking the pitch next to the toilet block and have the MSP there instead - far more room potentially, and won't cause an obstruction.
The second thing, though trivial, would be to consider having a kiddies small play area on site. It need not be big, just a couple apparatus for smaller kids ?
We love this site ......cosy, welcoming, plenty to see & do around that area - and fantastic for an overnight stop, if you are travelling further afield, like Cornwall/Devon. We'll be back !!
Holiday
We had a fantastic time on this site. The wardens were friendly and helpful on arrival. The toilet block was the cleanest we have come across on a site other sites need to take notice. Easy walk to Tesco and Sainsbury’s which we need as we have a motorhome. Lovely walk for the dog and easy walk to the gorge itself. Definitely a site we will be returning to.
Good Site
Stayed one night only, but nothing to dislike about this site. Good location for Cheddar Gorge shops and pubs - level walk via footpath for the most part avoiding busy roads. Site is level and well maintained and overall has a feeling of being efficiently run. Level site, some grass pitches but hard standing only at this time of year (October). TV reception is poor, but booster plug-in is available which solves the problem. Entrance is via narrow lane, but only for a relatively short distance. They operate a strict post 1pm arrival policy which should minimise access problems.
Sanitation is standard CMC offering and perfectly adequate. A motorhome point is available but conflicts with the exit which is not ideal.
Very good site
Good site, central, no path to village via main road, {main road over small narrow bridge} have to divert left out of site and up over a railway bridge, via steps onto path walkway to village. obviously a bit of a walk.
Site wardens very helpful. Village football pitch next to site, warden advised us before a match.
Showers very small and claustrophobic, but spotlessly clean.
Bath Arms good for a meal and a glass of something. Sainsburys small but very good staff.
Church bells chime, lovely to hear.

Cheddar caran Clclub site
Well run site by friendly wardens. Showers were a bit on the small size but were clean and worked well.
The motorhome emptying point is not in the best position as most mornings there was a queue at some time as people could not get by when emptying was taking place.
Beautiful site
Beautiful site with friendly staff, excellent location for the gorge. Nice and quiet and relaxing, can’t wait to go back again.

Fabulous site, perfect for the Gorge and cycling
What a lovely site in a perfect location, just minutes from the shops and pubs of Cheddar and easy to access the Gorge and the cycling route - the strawberry line. I will definitely be back. Great that the tv aerial point is there too . Loved it.
This may just be the perfect site
Stayed at many C&MC sites and in the main enjoyed them. However, there is usually a drawback: noise, pitches too close, too far to walk to a shop etc.
Cheddar is just about perfect. Small, quiet, great views, friendly staff, well spaced pitches, easy and pretty walks to town, close to gorge and reservoir.
Big plus was the church bells which ring distantly every quarter of an hour. They do not disturb but are redolent of old fashioned country life. On Sunday morning they burst into life with an 8 bell varying peal. Now clearly audible but a real pleasure to hear.
Cheddar village is charming and has the advantage of a Tesco express and a larger Sainsbury tucked away in a side street so as not to spoil the village ambience.
Running alongside the site is the Cheddar Yeo river which feeds the reservoir (a pleasant mile or so away and a couple of miles round). Didn't really have time to explore further this time.
Will I be back? You bet your sweet bippy!
In fact have already booked for a weekend in October. Highly recommended.
Would come back
A pleasant surprise, liked the site, position and staff, on arrival Wardens gave advice on pitch, we choose to back onto football ground, told me be noisy afternoon as a cup game, by 5.30 silent. My only comment has to be about arrival times, stated 13.00 which we adhered to, but noted some turning up 11.00 while wardens were cleaning, which they stopped and allowed them in, noted this as a discussion point prior on forum, while it saves the rush @ 13.00 , not playing fair to staff or others, either it is a rule or not. If you are going with bikes the strawberry trail is great.
Ace Cheddar Club Site
First class site in a great location, ideal for exploring Somerset, visit Glastonbury if you have not been there, great place to be, the staff are extremely helpful, pitches are well kept, toilets & showers are spotless just a really nice place to be and very relaxing. Note about the Sat Nav, I have a Club Sat Nav that is easy to navigate to club sites, but coming to the site south down the M5 the route takes you off at Junction 21, this is a really tricky narrow route to the site, try to avoid, best way is to come off at Junction 22 follow the A38 then the A371 a much easier route.
