A Quality Site.

I'd love to say 'don't go, it's not worth it' but that would only be a ploy in the hope that I might find it easier to book a stay next time I wish to go there! The location is stunning, very relaxing. The only downside of the site is the access road could, at the wrong time of day, potentially lead to hold ups for people staying on the site who wish to use their cars. The site access road is single track with passing places which means that it could be difficult if you wish to drive onto or leave the site after the 1 pm earliest arrival time. On busy days there will inevitably be a queue of caravans or motorhomes lining up, awaiting their turn to check in. This is a small price to pay though. This is a 'must stay' site. Book it, you will not be disappointed, just don't book it when I want to go please!

Chatsworth a tired jewel

I have given a 1 for good for families because the system would not allow me to pass this question. The reason for an overall 3 out of five is because we thought a flag ship site should be a little above the average. We found this site tired. The evening lights are insufficient. The foot paths are muddy and full of small ponds. The grass is none existant and the moss that replaces it has lost its gleam. The "secret door" leading to Chatsworth House is about as good as it gets if you negotiate the sludge. We did and enjoyed coffee at the stables cafe. The wardens are cheerful and helpful. The shower block is kept really clean. The shop seems well stocked. A combination of darkness and mud let this site down for us and as a premier site this needs to be addressed sooner rather than later

It's always a delight to re-visit the Chatsworth site.

We love visiting Chatsworth, but unfortunately this time we had neighbours with a barking dog, which they seemed unwilling or unable to control. We asked them to please control the dog but were met with a load of abuse. I would therefore like to say a big thank you to the warden, Keith, who immediately helped us relocate to another pitch and ensured our safety and well-being. He is an absolute credit to the Club as he dealt with the situation quickly and efficiently.

Getting on to the site.

Because of the access to the site down the long lane and only a few passing places you can't arrive on to the site until 1 pm everyone turns up at 1pm we arrived at 1-15 pm there were 26 caravans in front of me and about 8 caravans behind me it took about 45 min to get booked in very frustrating. The wardens do what they can but there is very little what they can do to speed things up. Washing up sinks drain blocked waste water would't drain away but i think the warden fixed it. Having said that the sit is well kept, clean and wardens very freindly. Lovely walks in Chatsworth grounds. Mr & Mrs W J Duffy

Lovely March break

This was our first visit to this site as we have been unable to get on before! Lovely pleasant location, lots to do locally, fabulous walks, we did 9 and 11 miles. Facilities were spotless, up to usual standards, the wardens were very helpful and friendly. We had the inevitable queue down the drive, 65 outfits in total were expected that afternoon! My only negative comment is the first sign (oh those inevitable signs) that you see states ' strictly no arrivals before 1pm' ! Not very welcoming. We now know the reason why, however it may be more welcoming and friendly to add ' this is a single track road so strictly........

Beautiful site

Just had our first visit to Chatsworth site. Three nights in March, and we had heard good things about this site, we were not disappointed. The Wardens were friendly and helpful. Our pitch that we chose was good. Lots of wildlife, ducks, pheasants all eager to be fed, think they have got us round their little fingers. Owls hooting at night, and although quite a large site was the most peaceful we have been on. No road noise, pleasant neighbours, lots of dogs on site but all responsible owners. The only problem we encountered was the booking in procedure. The long lane down to the site only single track with a few passing places was totally congested when we arrived. We were no 14 in the queue with a further 13 or so behind us. It took us 40 minutes to get down the lane and then actually get booked in. I would recommend that members come later than 1 pm as it would avoid this congestion, we certainly will next time. The only other point was that members trying to come out of the site just could not leave until the enormous queue had gone. However they all seemed patient. We went into Bakewell, found a lovely market and several good dog friendly pubs and good food. We will be back to explore the surrounding villages as soon as we can.

Derbyshire at its best

We were informed by a warden at the entrance to the site that tree cutting was in operation and that it would cease at 4.00pm that day and thats what happened. The site is very tranquil and when the sun came out for a short period it lifted the atmosphere on what was a few gloomy days ( weather wise ). The facilities were spotless and the gate onto the estate brought back nice memories from previous visits to Chatsworth. 4g reception was fantastic for the mobile. It might be an idea to colour in the different plots on the map of the site for easier location of your type of pitch. When its dark and gloomy location of your colour pitch could be made simpler. Will return again couldn't fit everything in this visit.

Nothing but noise

Shame nobody had the the decency to inform us of the four days of tree surgery before we arrived on site even though we booked direct with site and my mobile is on record, nice countryside site but noise intolerable, then water turned off for an afternoon but wardens too lazy to put any notice on service points, only toilet block which we never use. First and last visit rip off

Chatsworth Gem

We have just spent a lovely week on a service pitch. These are now much more user friendly, with the replacement of the meshed grass strips along the front, by gravel. These always got so muddy at this time of the year. The facilities were of the usual high standard / cleanliness and wardens very friendly. We did do one excursion to Quarry Bank Mill ( National Trust) about 35 miles away, close to Manchester Airport, because we wanted to visit and it was half the distance it is from home. Most of our time was spent walking locally and from the site. A particular favourite is out past the House into the woods and onto the Rabbit Warren. Then track down to Beely Lodge and Calton Lees Garden Centre for lunch, before returning to the site. About a 6 mile circuit with 180 metres of assent / descent. For food there is the Coop at Bakewell, Spar at Calver or the Chatsworth Farm Shop, which stocks some lovely if rather expensive produce. However, 10% discount is available on production of your campsite receipt, between 09:00 -11:00 and 16:00 - 18:00. The site Wifi worked well during our stay and 4G is also available on EE and O2. Although better on O2. If you can't get satellite, because a tree is in the way, there is a connection on the site post which provides the main channels. The site road near the entrance has a huge pothole. Apparently the responsibility of the estate to fix, in the meantime exercise caution, it can be avoided but may be covered by water.

We were very satisfied with our recent trip to celebrate our anniversary. The Wardens were very welcoming, and the site and clean toilet block is a credit to them ,we were especially thankful for the recent installation of a dog wash considering the mud everywhere you turn in the park.Chatsworth site is in a wonderful place for walking from, Thankyou.
