Sycamore trees

We really enjoy this site , especially the ease of access to Chatsworth grounds and the surrounding villages and country side . Staff friendly and helpful , facilities clean and even though two showers out of action and the site full , still plenty of showers available , never any queuing. The big down side for us were the number of available pitches suitable for an awning without being under a sycamore tree. It took many hours to clean the sticky sap and maggots that had fallen from the tree , from the caravan and awning on our return home . Future trips hopefully planned to avoid peak holiday times to give us a better choice of pitch .

Rude warden

We have been coming to Chatsworth for many years and spent several weeks a year at the site still love it and always will even though one lady warden does want some lessons in customer service after moving pitch from a none awning pitch to a awning pitch we moved a couple of things over to the new pitch before the caravan big hassle really but my fault with the booking I went to inform the office to be told by a lady warden to never do that again really nastily That I should have told them first she must have said this at least twice I felt like a naughty child we should never put anything on the pitch first we were only about ten minutes in between leaving the things there and getting the caravan round the corner I do understand I should have been told that’s the way they do it now but there’s ways of saying it I didn’t say a word back because I didn’t want to spoil my holiday but we don’t spend all that money to stay hear to be talked to like that I suggest a retrain on customer service or at least learn some manners by the way this is only one warden the rest are lovely hope no one else gets on the wrong side of her anyway lovely clean site in a perfect place and that’s wat we all come for.

Lovely site

Perfect place to be over the horse trials weekend, thoroughly enjoyed all that was going on. Full service pitch was excellent so no need to use the facilities. A warm and helpful welcome from the wardens despite them having to cope a couple of hours earlier with turning away the usual fleet of pre-1pm arrivals, which they admit do try their patience. Only minor gripe, nobody's fault, was the bird mess on our car & van. We got away with it relatively lightly but a couple of pitches got some serious aerial bombardment. Perhaps they need a site kestrel.

Caring Wardens.

In this day and age we don’t often hear often enough about people who ‘go that extra mile’, and are a credit to themselves and the organisation that they represent, but I feel I must bring to the attention of the CMHC and its members, of the actions the wardens ( especially one of the Ladies, who due to the confused state we were in, I did not get her name, I apologise for that ) of the Chatsworth site. We had booked 3 nights and 2 days tickets, into the Horse Trials in the Grounds of Chatsworth House, and we had just got up and getting ready to prepare breakfast (9am) on our first full day of the stay, when my wife collapsed. I called the ambulance and then contacted reception to alert them of the ambulance coming. Two of the staff came to administer first aid, and guide the ambulance to our pitch. We then spent all day in Chesterfield Royal Infirmary returning back to the site at approx. 7pm. I went to the reception to inform that we would be leaving straight away to get my wife home, as we felt that to be the most suitable action. The warden immediately offered to make us a drink and a meal, we declined as we felt it would be better to get home ASAP, but we really appreciate the warmly given offer. The warden then dealt with a refund from the site fees we hadn’t used . She also as we had already lost money on our trip, said she would try to sort out some form of refund for our tickets for the following day for the Horse Trials, as it was then no use to me and my wife ( as the ones for that day hadn’t been ! ) . This she did, and rang us at home 2 days later to explain the method of refund. None of the above actions were instigated by me or my wife, but by the warm caring attitude of the warden at Chatsworth. They are a credit to the club, and themselves and my wife and I would like to say how much your caring attitude and concern was really appreciated. Thank you for your help and concern.

disabled toilet/shower

Because of my disability I need my wife to come with me to the shower. We had to wait at least 25 minutes to gain access to the facilities and someone was waiting behind us .What I suggest is to have another disabled toilet apart from that problem what a lovely site and the stewards were superb thank you Keith Wilkinson.

A lovely weekend at a lovely site

I stayed here with my mum and 2 young children, 7 & 4. My auntie and uncle were on the pitch next to us and we had 4 dogs between us. The access to Chatsworth Park was easy to get to and free which gave endless amounts of dog walks and places for my daughter to ride her bike. It is only a 15 minute walk to the house. There is also a small dog walk on site that is enclosed if you wish to let dogs have an off-lead wander without risk of losing them. The ducks are a little over friendly, one decided to come into our awning and peek at the dog while she was asleep, the dog luckily didn't even wake up. There are plenty of showers and toilets and are lovely and clean. The children's park was a little uninteresting so after a 5 minute visit the kids decided to keep walking. The birds in a morning are quite vocal so can be annoying but you kind of expect that with being in the middle of the trees. We would come again to this site as its only half an hour away from home and so easy to get to with lots of local things to do.

Beautiful site spoilt only by the wildlife

My wife and I have just spent 3 nights at the site and I have to say we have enjoyed ourselves except for the wildlife overnight. There are a large number of crows nesting in the trees around the site and they are very noisy late into the night and first thing in the morning. Add to that the pheasants and the ducks calling out there is plenty of conversation between the wildlife. Moan over, now for the good points. The location and facilities are fantastic. We walked about 6 miles each day and never left the extended Chatsworth grounds. The Chatsworth farm shop is certainly worth a visit as are the house and the gardens. It is really nice walking round the extended grounds in the evening when all the daytime visitors have gone and you feel you have the place almost to yourself. There are a number of herd of deer, both red and fallow and you can also find a mirriad of other bird life including woodpeckers. The staff are very helpful and the club shop is well stocked. We would stop there again, but would ensure we took headphones as the wildlife certainly ruined our chance of a lie in. Well done Chatsworth for allowing a club site and to Caravan & Motohome club for the quality of the club.

Really Wonderful Weekend

Had a lovely relaxing weekend at Chatsworth. The facilities are perfect, as expected. Perfectly located for Chatsworth House and for the local countryside. Would certainly come back.

Splendid weekend at Chatsworth

Splendid weekend at Chatsworth, the site enjoys access directly into the Park through the back gate in the site perimeter wall which makes this site quite special. The ducks and pheasants on site are entertaining and whilst in the dog walk area there were nuthatch, lots of finches and tits. The long drive down to the site was an issue for us, we arrived at the turning off the main road at 12:58, perfect I thought, however the queue of vans who’d arrived before us prevented us being able to get the back of the van fully into the access road! I can only imagine the comments of the drivers on the main road behind me. A splendid weekend...
