excellent stay

This is the second time we have visited this site. It's location is excellent, 3 minutes drive from the M42..... but quiet. The wardens are very friendly and welcoming, and the site and facilities are kept very clean. We have only visited the site 'out of season' and can imagine it being very busy when the weather is warmer, which we will avoid... Very enjoyable stay... thank you

Am I wrong

Am I wrong to think that when I pay for a pitch it is for my families use only? We enjoyed our stay at Chapel Lane and the directions there were brilliant. But the family next to us and all their relatives in at least 2 other vans, thought it was ok to use our pitch. Granddad wandered around the back of the van ( about 3 foot between us and the hedge ) and all the gran-kids used it to run to the loo`s. So we put the windbreak up to stop this. The following morning I am having breakfast in my dressing gown, when the family at different stages decide that they will now cut across right next to the van. So we put 2 chairs on their sides to cause a barrier. They still didn't take the hint and walked around the chairs. So we put another 2 chairs out and blocked the whole area off. Great it worked. That is till we thought after 2 days they may have got the idea, we put the chairs away, So dad goes straight over the pitch. Unbelievable . Anyway we would use the site again but just make sure we are not on that pitch.

A good base.

A good base for an industrial heritage visit to the midlands. Not the quietest of sites with nearby road noise but not unbearable. We caught the bus from Wythall bus stop, about 10 minutes walk from the site, into the centre of Birmingham for a reasonable £4.20 return. We visited the N/T "back to back" houses and onto the Canal Street basin. We also ventured into Stoke, a terrific day, visiting Moorcroft Factory, a tour of Emma Bridgewater pottery and to cap off a very good day the Gladstone Pottery Museum. From this site you can radiate out too many interesting towns among them Bridgenorth and Litchfield. Easy to find, nice and flat, spotlessly clean I highly recommend this site.

Good Site for a Stopover

We have been on this site several times and, when quiet, it is an ideal place for a short stay - an oasis close to Birmingham, the motorway system and the NEC. A typical CC site with friendly wardens and clean facilities. Nearest supermarket is a car ride away but for most provisions there is a farm shop within walking distance. Only problem this visit was that site fees have increased quite a bit since last year and the wi-fi was not working. We were assured that this would be fixed before our return in 2 weeks.

Valued Mid ground space

First visit to Chapel Lane end of March 2015, we deliberately picked this site being near the M6 and half way to Swansea. Wanted site to be away from domestic responsibilities and just enjoy motorhome. Need taxi to nearest pub, Coach and Horses and very busy, got a seat at end of table then ordered a meal, but better to book ahead. Big Tesco in Solihul stcoked up. Transport museum next door. Picturesque site and very helpful staff. Next time would like to stay longer to explore Birmingham and area.

Exit Chaos

We have just spent a delightful long weekend at this site.  On arrival the staff were most helpful, the pitches were nicely arranged and, as it was early season, it was not too busy.   The cleanliness of the facilities were second to none. The site had easy access to Birmingham – we used the park and ride (train) which was brilliant and it was a convenient site for tourist attractions like the Severn Valley Railway etc.  We only had one grumble and that was on leaving.  It would have been helpful to have known in advance the situation relating to burials at the graveyard next door before leaving the site and turning left into Chapel Lane.  Due to some inconsiderate parking by the funeral goers leaving cars on both sides of the road it was impossible to get a caravan through.  We had to unhook, manually turn the caravan round using a residents driveway and leave by the other route.  While we were turning round, another caravan left the caravan site and, despite our warning of what laid ahead, tried to pass the cars and literally got stuck.  He was still there when we passed him on the main road 30 minutes later. If there could be some sort of liaison with the cemetary and the caravan site, the wardens would be able advise members of times when there could be problems when turning left into Chapel Lane. Perhaps they should recommend them to turn right instead although it is a longer, bumpier route. What a shame after having such a nice time.

More than just a storage facility.

This is an exremely well placed site for Tourers En-route, and for us very well placed for us visiting relatives, we have noticed a gradual swing of closing pitches and adding more storage, please don't ! The pitches that are being taken out of use, along the back and towards the Bus Museum are the quietest pitches and the most peaceful on the site, admittetly some are narrower and some need a bit more levelling to stop them flooding  after heavy rain, but they are still the 'prime pitches' in our book ! Don't just use them for storage....such a waste. Otherwise had a great time over Easter visiting National Trust properties close by (there are many !). The new dog walk is great, and thank you for opening it up, in what was otherwise overgrown shrub, it could do with a bit more bark chippings down the main pathway, and at the end, where there is a doggy MUD WALLOW ! ours unfortunately loved it ! (bark chippings again please). Site is a tribute to the new (ish) Wardens, Thanks from a regular 'stayer'.

Midlands Halt

A pleasant site for a stopover and peace and quiet close to the motorway network. A warm welcome from the wardens and an Easter quiz was a nice touch whilst supporting their chosen charity.

Great site to use as a touring base.

This was our second visit to this site and on each occasion we have used it as a base for visiting a specific location, the latest being an event at the NEC. Its close location to the motorway network coupled with the fact that there are so many places of interest within easy travelling distance of this site makes it a prime site in the Midlands area. The site itself is up to the usual high standards of the CC with immaculate facilities and very helpful staff.
