A Jewel

Amazing rural location.  Spotlessly clean. Friendly wardens.

March 2015

As a newbie to the CC and my motorhome I am still finding my way when it comes to the various sites. This one is easy to get to, had friendly staff, spotless facilities and I enjoyed a pleasant couple of days. As a dog owner (x2) I appreciate the dog exercise area, but would have preferred a map showing the local public rights of way, rather than written descriptions. But a minor detail and I will be using this site again as for me it is a convenient stopping place from the SW where I live to places much further north.

Wonderful site

only stayed for a night but the staff were really friendly and helpful particularly as we weren't able to leave until much later.  Lovely site.  Great dog walk and good playground.  Definitely recommend.

A very convenient site

Very easy access from the M42. Great for an overnight stop, on route, or for a longer stay. The wardens and the site are pleasent, although the older of the two toilet blocks could do with an update. This is particularly the case with the showers, which struggled to wash the soap off. On a scale of 1 to 10 they would get a 1. In the newer of the two blocks they were fine. Easy access to the NEC and I would say much preferable to the temporary site if visiting the caravan show. The farm shop just up the road is to be recommended, you are spoiled for choice. Half an hour bus ride into Birmingham (150) which can be caught from by the church once a day, or every hour ten minutes walk away. Plenty of shops, if that's your thing, or the museum is well worth a visit. Of particular note is the Staffordshire Hoard, which has it's own purpose built gallery.

Family Visit

We use Chapel Lane on a regular basis as we have family near by, its excellent for a stop over and handy for the Lakes using the M6 or Devon using the M5. The wardens are always friendly and the facilities very clean and tidy. just one request could you put a shelf in the veg prep area above the sink units as this would make it much easier when washing up. many thanks

A late winter break

This is not our first visit to the site, it is ideally situated for the motorway network and ease of access. This visit was purely to see how newly acquired Golden Retriever settled into a motorhome routine. He settled in well, the small dog walk on site is an added bonus. As I said we have a motorhome whilst it is easy access there are very few pavements and places to visit that are easily accessible either on foot or by bus especially with a dog.Obviously the nearness to the NEC is a bonus but then without a car not sure how you would get there. We tried to walk to the local pub "The Coach and Horses" at Weatheroak but it was, with a dog, very dangerous on a narrow lane with no pavement so we gave up and went to the farm shop instead that was safer on foot. The site was up to the usual club standards with very pleasant and helpful wardens.

Excellent

We stayed for 3 nights. We chose the site as it was near to Cadbury World as we had booked to visit there. It was also easy to catch bus into Birmingham. The Farm Shop and Restaurant were an added bonus. Facilities were clean and warm. We definately will visit again. We didn't have children with us and don't know if facilities are good for them hence low mark for how good the site is for families.

Another happy stay at Chapel Lane!

We have just completed our second visit to the Chapel Lane site and always find the wardens welcoming, friendly and so very helpful. Access is straightforward even for our 8.8 metre motorhome plus trailer - and we have watched the biggest RVs manoeuvre onto the large pitches without difficulty. The two toilet blocks and all facilities are beautifully maintained and I love the large washing machines and driers!  Lots to see and do in the area and Beckets Farm Shop, within walking distance, is well worth a visit. I would imagine the traffic noise could be a negative point for those staying at the far end of the site but if you're nearer the toilet blocks the traffic noise is minimal.  We shall definitely visit again - and again!!

Pleasantly surprised

Over the years I have stayed on many club sites and this one certainly didn't disappoint. With easy access to the motorway networks, the NEC and bus route to Birmingham just a 10 min walk to the roundabout. One feature that does stand out on this site is the room between pitches and ease of reversing onto pitch.Very helpfully site managers and very peaceful with just a minor drone of distant traffic.Car enthusiasts visit the Heritage Motor Museum at Gaydon (about 35 mins on M40) for history of BMC/British Leyland car marque.I have marked it down for good for families to 3 stars as didn't notice any play area for children.
