Dog walking bliss

Warm greeting on arrival, nicely laid out site with loads of space between pitches. Facilities are all there and close enough for most pitches. If you have a dog there's some great walking sin the adjacent fields and along the edge of the local golf course, remember wellies if it's wet. All in all a great site not far from home which merits further visits. Recommended!

Good Location

This site is very well placed for access into Birmingham. Upon arrival you would not believe the close proximity of the M42, the site is quiet and in a lovely village location. Upon arrival the wardens were polite, friendly and very helpful, as expected from a C&MC Site. The facilities whilst being tired were kept clean and well maintained. Some lovely local walks are available and a trip to the nearby farm shop is recommended, a lot more there than expected. A restaurant, cafe, fruit and veg, butchery, bakery, cheese and gifts are all on sale, if you want to use the restaurant on a Sunday a booking is recommended. Location is the biggest attraction to this site not withstanding as always the great service provided by the wardens and the high standard facilities offered by the C&MC

Great site in the MIdlands

This is the second review from me of this site. a great location just off the M42 and super for the NEC (3 junctions). I took my dogs last time and want to add for other dog owners that the site has a dog walk, but just out of the front gate there is a public footpath that allows you to walk around the field that are next to the site. Also there is a park less than 15 minutes walk away called Wythall Park. Left out of the gate to MIddle Lane, left up to Wilmore Lane on the right along this across the A35 stay left and you arrive on Silver Street opposite the park (www.wythall-park.org.uk). Site is clean and well maintained and I like the tarmac parking area as it makes it clean underfoot. Excellent farm shop nearby and a Sainsburys a short drive. I will always use this site when travelling across this area or going to the NEC.

Excellent Location for NEC

First stay at this site for a weekend visit to the NEC which was only a 20 minute drive away on M42 - very handy. Stayed on a cold January weekend and the site was very quiet - we were booked onto a hardstanding without awning but were offered a hardstanding with awning pitch if we preferred as this was a more traditional gravel pitch rather than tarmac. For a couple of nights the perfectly level tarmac area is perfect and very close to the shower/toilet blocks which were spotless. There is a local pub about a mile away which we walked to - although along an unlit country road with no path this was not a problem with a good torch to warn the light traffic. Good choice of local beers, some brewed on the premises, and the food looked excellent. Will definitely stay here again for NEC trips and may even book for longer and enjoy the local attractions.

New Year visit.

This was our second visit to this site for New Year Break. A very handy site for all that Birmingham and surrounding areas can offer. Some recent reviewers have been a little unfair in my opinion as it is the middle of winter - having had serious snow - yes the site did look a little unkempt- but maybe we are a bit more understanding and tolerant than some. The Wardens were in the middle of duty changes and this reflected in the state of reception / stock etc, - This was explained to us and the Lead Warden and his wife - together with their assistants were able to use the receptions as a little "Swarie" party - many nibbles and wine - which we were pleased to partake thereof. All in all we enjoy this site and yes - there are parts of it that now look "tired" and probably needs a couple of " bob " spending on it. Becketts Farm shop - just round the corner is a must to visit Brightstar2

Snowy stay

We stayed between Christmas and New Year and arrived to find the site frozen and covered in icy snow which was great news to my kids. The site is fine and blocks were kept clean etc. but I did think that the wardens could have done more to clear the roads etc. once the snow had melted as for the last 4 days of our stay the snow had thawed and the roads were cluttered with debris and it needed sweeping up. Other than driving around on their tractor to empty bins, we didn't see much of the wardens and they seemed to be out of the office most of the time. Although I imagine they had worked hard dealing with frozen pipes etc. before we arrived.

Great site in a really good location

We are regulars on this site as it is close to family and friends. I have said all the usual plaudits about location, cleanliness and the wonderful flowers in the summer on previous reviews so I won't repeat these. This time we stayed at the site over Christmas and were given a warm welcome by the wardens who also hosted get together for mince pies and mulled wine - very welcome after a trying journey on the M5. We were very impressed to see the wardens out and about working on Christmas Day looking very festive in a Santa hat. We had snow on Boxing Day night and the wardens were very helpful in letting us leave a little bit later as we were held up. I thought an earlier review by someone about the toilet blocks and twigs on site was unfair and didn't represent the usual high standards. There have been storms and this does bring down branches which can take a while to clear up. One toilet block is older but always spotless but the newer one is of a very good standard. It's a good site and we will be back soon.

New Year 2017/18 visit

We have used this site many times as it is convenient for Birmingham and the NEC Ian’s have always had a friendly welcome from the wardens. How ever this was the first time we came when there was ice and snow around. The club only supply enough grit and sand for the wardens to treat the areas around the shower/ toilet blocks. So on arrival the approach road and site roads were slippery and Ivey. My partner slipped over on his ass when walking on the site road and he is a fit and able 45 year old. So if you are disabled or frail you may want to consider and check with the site wardens the local weather conditions when visiting during the winter months. As the site is one which is open all year you would think the club would better prepare the sites for winter conditions. I don’t know whether the club has public liability insurance if any of its members slipped over and injured themselves on their untreated site roads? I would be interested in their response to this review

Snowed In

We visited the site in order to visit the German Market at Birmingham. Staff were more than helpful in advising train times and information about the local area. We visited the site the weekend in Dec 2017 when the Country experienced the snow bomb. We could not tow our van home that weekend, and Ursula the Unicorn had to remain at the site. The staff were fantastic in supporting us and other campers who could not get off the site, and directing us to the local farm shop for the most amazing breakfast before our snow bound journey home on Sunday. A big thank you to all staff and we will be visiting again.

Shabby and neglected

On arrival I went into reception and my first impression was that the reception was going to be demolished as it was empty of anything , empty shelves and bare walls , when I asked the warden she said it was empty because the wardens would be changing in 20 days time so it was cleared ready for this ( a bit early in my opinion ,not the impression the club should be portraying) The toilet block are very dated and in need of repairs and renewals , even the disable hand rails where rusty and grubby looking . We where there for 3 nights and every time we visited the toilet block we had to walk round twigs and small branches blown down from the trees , no sign of any wardens tending the upkeep of the site in general , think they must have sacked the one who had a sweeping brush Over all a let down when compared with the many other club sites I have used over the years
