There are 2 pubs (one posh and one good value) in the village along with three convenience stores (All within 10 minutes walk of the site). There is a pub (The Tow Bar) on the Cayton bay Site (within 1 mile) which also does a Sunday carvery. There are 2 supermarkets within 2 miles (and no need to enter Scarborough to access them). The buses to Scarborough and Bridlington/Filey stop right at the gate. The Actual Cayton beach is a 15 minute walk away. You can also walk into Scarborough from the site. The site itself is well maintained with spotless amenity blocks A credit to the on-site staff. There has been building work nearby but this has now reached a stage where there is very little disturbance or noise. Definitely a site to visit if you want a civilised site near to the coast.
Great site in a Great position
Our second visit this year and another enjoyable one again. Lots of vans but a spacious well maintained site managed by a large but friendly team. We chose a damp day to take the road walk along the coast into Scarborough. A coffee and a sugary donut hit at the Beachcomber on arrival at the South Beach soon boosted our energy levels. Sunshine and a cloudless sky greeted us on a visit to the lovely beach and gardens at Filey. Another sunny day saw us at the lovely, spacious (depending on the tide) beach at Cayton Bay a short walk from the site. A visit to the Towbar on the stroll back saved cooking that night. For a Special Treat or occasion then the Farrier in the village the place to go but you will need to book.
The site is nicely positioned close to the A165 so soon onto the road network to tour the area. A trip to Pickering and the NY Moors not far.
Further afield a coast run to Whitby past Robin Hoods Bay. A trip to York for some retail therapy or history.
A bonus is the bus stop just outside the site for Scarborough and Bridlington via Filey.

A fabulous late summer stay
Right, let's gets the only negative out of the way first. The construction noise from the new housing development abutting the site spoils the peace and quiet of the site; but that is beyond CAMC and the warden's control. But, a bit of advice about the noisiest pitches would be welcomed.
That aside, this is a wonderful well kept sites. The wardens worked tirelessly to keep everything neat and tidy and were very friendly and welcoming (as was everyone on the site). Locationwise, you couldn't want for much more; about 15mins walk to the stunning Cayton Bay; 15mins bus ride to Scarborough; and around 20mins or so from beautiful Filey. And with the site lights turned off at night the sky's are a wonder to behold.
A firm favourite of ours and hopefully we will return again next year.

Great location
Just had 3 nights here with my godson , we have been every year in august but this year was really surprised to see lots of empty pitches and not many families.
The site is large and split into two halves. We were in the top area. The facilities block was kept spotless clean and the wardens work hard at keeping the site tidy.
There is a bus stop outside that goes along the coast .
After promising our godson last year we would go this year I was shocked to pay 10.00 a night more this year. Unfortunately due to this price increase we didn’t book for as many nights. Hopefully the cmhc will look at reducing pitch fees and going onto pre payment metered cards,
I won’t be booking for next year until the prices are affordable.

Has so much potential....
Our second visit to the site and probably our last. We arrived 30 minutes early (with a flat tyre, there was nowhere to stop on the approach so made my way to the site) and the warden was instantly saying 'you are early, you can not be here, you MUST move'. After about 10 mins of discussions, the warden finally admitted it would be dangerous to send us back out onto the road with a flat, but still made us wait until 13:00 before we could check in. No offer of help with the tyre, no help locating a local garage to do a repair. The pitch we selected was a good size and level but we did notice several vans needed leveling blocks across the axle to get level (not great for a site that was re-developed 3 years ago). During our stay the wardens were OK but seemed to have an obsession with grass cutting, in our 9 day stay they cut the grass around our pitch 3 times! each time involving 2 ride-on cutters, a petrol push mower, and a petrol strimmer (hence my 2 stars for peace and quiet). The toilet blocks are large but the standard of cleaning was poor, I pointed out some mud and stains on the walls (after they had been there 3 days) and the warden was not impressed with me, after that, we did not even get a good morning. Like most club sites there is no wifi even though the facilities list shows there is (except at reception, and this was poor. Note - I do not see wifi at reception only as 'wifi on site'). Such a shame as the location is great and once the young trees grow (why they cut down the old large trees during re-development is beyond me) to provide some shade, and the wifi is sorted the site has the potential to be great. Local bus runs stop right at the entrance, shops close by and some excellent pubs in the village.

A favourite
Another return visit to this lovely site spacious pitches ,very clean and well maintained spotless shower block and always very friendly staff who this time very kindly helped us out with a badly damages awning ( THANKYOU everyone ) The location is perfect between filey and Scarborough being motorhome owners public transport is important and the bus stop is at the gates of the site . We had our sons and families with us this last visit staying in a yurt and a cabin the children enjoyed the park the basketball court and also the pool table in the games room . The local fish and chip shop was handy on Friday , although a fish and chip van visited on the Saturday .
A visit to the Farrier which is just around the corner is always a must for us and we love a trip into Filey .Cayton caravan park is definitely one of our favourites

Fantastic pitch and site
We had booked a premium pitch and it was a great sized pitch with a picnic bench, bbq area, grey water waste and fresh water. This was in the lower part of the site, hedges hadn’t quite grown in between us yet 😀. Wardens were all very helpful and friendly. Toilet block was immaculate and very modern compared to some other caravan and motorhome sites we have visited. Site was kept spotless and has an excellent dog walking area.
Easy walk to the beach from the site, we also walked into Cayton village which had a few small shops, chip shop and pub.
We had lovely coastal walks along The Cleveland Way to Scarborough one day and Filey the next.
Lovely site, great location, but be aware of some road noise
Our second visit to this lovely, well designed site. A great base for getting out and about, and it has very good facilities on site. We had fish and chips from a visiting vendor (small portion but tasty), and a meal at the Farrier pub (definitely recommend). On the newer bit of the site, the premium pitches are too near the quite noisy road, if we stay again we’d choose a pitch at the opposite side of the site. Overall, worth a visit.
Return Visit, after the Refurbishment
We first visited this site not long after the Club acquired it. We enjoyed our stay then so thought we should make a return visit. We were not disappointed. The site is in two sections, the Main site around the reception area and the Upper site. Most of the refurbishment work seems to have been done on the Main site which now looks like a CMC site. This section also includes a good selection of "Experience Freedom" static accommodation. Both sections have completely rebuilt toilet/shower block both with open grill motorhome waste points. If I were to be a bit picky I would say that there are not enough service points, certainly on the main site. Another area of disappointment was that the electric bollards don't have a TV booster connection as we found the signal via our roof top aerial not always very good. I seem to recall that the upper section did have co-ax connectors but these have since been removed, which is a shame. No WiFi currently other than a hotspot which you can use in the Games/TV Room. 4G where were pitched was a bit hit and miss but we managed. Nice to see a good site shop. The village of Cayton is a short stroll from the site and there are a couple of shops, a couple of pubs and a Fish and Chip shop. Also there is a good bus service from right outside the site to both Scarborough and Filey/Bridlington. If you are fit enough you can also walk to the beach which is about a mile away.
