First time here and definitely won't be the last the site was immaculate and staff were really friendly and helpful and all the facilities were spot on
Just returned from 1st visit (6 days)
This was our 1st visit to Castleton site & pleased to confirm we had a very enjoyable stay (even with not best of weather!). A dream for hikers I for sure; & very accommodating to those (of us)who enjoy a stroll instead with Hope & Castleton at hand. Lovely location with a good choice of friendly pubs with good meals & handy village shops. Ideally positioned for those who have a small car in tow with handy day trips to Matlock, Buxton, Bakewell & Eyam (the plague village not to be missed) among others. Site may be getting a little tired but clean & well run by very friendly team. Will be back again soon.

a tired old site
Superb location, lovely views, but I thought the site has well passed it's sell by date. There were broken/missing coat pegs in the gent's shower cubicles. The external woodwork around the toilet area could do repainting etc. The pitches were scruffy. The first week there some of the pitches were being re surfaced, which meant a continuous sound of heavy machinery. It would have been good if the club had notified me of this so I would have had the opportunity to change my booking. To do justice to the fees charged the site needs to close for a time & be completely renovated to bring it up to standard. Come on Caravan Club you can do better.

Another lovely stay
Third time to this site and as ever spotless. Only minor problem wished we hadn't parked at the bottom end as road noise is a bit annoying. Having said that we'd still return as walking to Castleton and Hope the site is ideally situated.
excellent for midweek walking breaks
Had a very enjoyable first visit to Castleton, wardens very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Facilities very clean and well maintained but looking a little tired now in comparison to recently refurbished sites, the drying room however was excellent and much appreciated and used by us on a daily basis. One gripe was the very low sinks in the dish washing area, anyone over 5ft 10ins will struggle, sinks of varying heights would be better. Pubs and restaurants within easy walking distance and some excellent local hill walks close by, we will certainly return.

Another fantastic break
Just returned home from our first stay at Castleton site. Had a very relaxing break. Not much of a walk into either the village of Castleton or Hope. The site itself was very well looked after by the wardens and we were given the friendliest of welcomes. We will definitely return at some point in the near future.
Fantastic site
Stayed at Castleton for the first time over the weekend wardens and staff very helpful friendly and welcoming, site very clean and well maintained showers spotless. Castle ton is a lovely little village with plenty of gift shops and pubs. We ate at the Castle which was great good food excellent service and reasonably priced. I can definitely recommend this site and will definitely return.
As Usual a Great Time
Yet another visit to this great site. Had a great time. There are loads of great walks in the area that are easy to do from the site. There are also some a short drive away. Castleton is a lovely village with nice shops and of course some great pubs with good ale and food. Some of them allow dogs too (The Peak, Cheshire cheese and The George). This is a site well worth a visit and we have been visiting for the last 10 years!!
very welcoming
Having been visiting the Loosehill, now Castleton, site regularly for 30 years it was great to find the stite back in the hand of wardens who actually welcomed folk to their site. Wonderful week on a very clean site with great facilities and very helpful staff in a superb location.. We can now return to our regular stays here.
