We visit this site every year and have never been disappointed. The site gives access to many facilities and Castleton is within walking distance. There is a good source of information on site to direct everyone around the district covering all local attractions. There is a good bus route to get around the area if you don't want to drive everyday. The Staff are always very helpful.
A welcome break;
First visit to this site and we were pleasantly surprised after reading some of the reviews! excellant facilities, lovely wardens who kept a clean and tidy site. Plenty to see and do round about and a bus stop near the site for venturing further afield inclement weather meant we could have some retail therapy at meadow hall via the bus and tram service (all free with our pensioners passes!) Wonderful scenic route on the bus to Sheffield! We will definately be back!

lovely weekend break
We had a lovely weekend break on this site location is superb once we parked up we didn't use the car until we left site to come home.
We walked up Mam Tor the views are stunning well worth the climb.
Next time we visit we will be having a tour in one of the Blue John caverns, we need to stay longer.
Great site
What a great location and site. We had a wonderful stay, enjoyed the area and was impressed with the friendliness of the residents and on site staff, great location for walking with first class pubs selling wonderful food to set us up for the next day's exercise
Great Location
Great holiday, great site, great location, great staff. Showers in need of updating.

Fabulous location
Enjoyed a lovely weekend at this attractive site, which is situated within easy walking distance to Castleton and Hope, both of which have a selection of cafes and pubs, many of which are dog friendly. The facilities were spotlessly clean if a little dated, and the shop was well stocked with eggs, bacon, bread, cakes etc
The only downside was that check-in was a little disorganised and after we had pitched up and were just going out to lunch, one of the wardens came and told us we had to re-pitch, as we had broken the 6 metre rule ( there were no pitches either side of us) This could have been avoided by telling us where to pitch on arrival, but hey. A little traffic noise from the road, but it didn't bother us.
Castleton 5 nights from 15/03/2015
Location, location, location! This alone makes Castleton a must-do visit. The site offers all the essentials, is kept well by a caring and friendly staff and is well situated close to the village and to public transport. The walks straight from the site are delightful. Playing 'hunt a pitch' on arrival meant touring the whole site a couple of times and I feel sure that this could be better organised with a little thought from the site staff. I will certainly visit again, assuming I can make a booking at this seemingly permanently full site!

beautiful and relaxing
First time here and definitely won't be the last the site was immaculate and staff were really friendly and helpful and all the facilities were spot on
Just returned from 1st visit (6 days)
This was our 1st visit to Castleton site & pleased to confirm we had a very enjoyable stay (even with not best of weather!). A dream for hikers I for sure; & very accommodating to those (of us)who enjoy a stroll instead with Hope & Castleton at hand. Lovely location with a good choice of friendly pubs with good meals & handy village shops. Ideally positioned for those who have a small car in tow with handy day trips to Matlock, Buxton, Bakewell & Eyam (the plague village not to be missed) among others. Site may be getting a little tired but clean & well run by very friendly team. Will be back again soon.

a tired old site
Superb location, lovely views, but I thought the site has well passed it's sell by date. There were broken/missing coat pegs in the gent's shower cubicles. The external woodwork around the toilet area could do repainting etc. The pitches were scruffy. The first week there some of the pitches were being re surfaced, which meant a continuous sound of heavy machinery. It would have been good if the club had notified me of this so I would have had the opportunity to change my booking. To do justice to the fees charged the site needs to close for a time & be completely renovated to bring it up to standard. Come on Caravan Club you can do better.
