Wet and windy

This is a lovely site with good facilities, i.e. up to normal CC standards. We particularly liked the Christmas decorations around the warden's hut. Access to the town is very easy. There is a footpath all the way along the main road, so it is safe at night. Good eating is available in several local pubs. We can recommend the Olde Nags Head in the center of town. . . . .  good pub food and some excellent cask beers. Local walking is also very good, but was not so much fun on this occasion due to the bad weather. We will definitely return.

Mixed weather

A very nice welcome, lovely location, less than 10 minute walk to the village. Good choice of eateries, mostly pubs. Plenty of places to visit and good walking area, but be prepared for inclement weather outside of the summer months.

Clean and friendly site.

We stayed here in late November and found the site facilities to be good and just a ten minute stroll into Castleton. The staff were helpful and we would like to visit again in summer.

Perfect location for hill walking & lively village

The site maintains the standards of the Caravan Club. It's best attribute is that it sites amongst some of the best walking in the country and is within half a mile of Castleton village and 5 muddy boot and dog friendly pubs, a great bakers and some classy jewellery shops. For an easy 3 mile evening dog walk turn right out of the site and after a few hundred yards turn left into Warehouse Lane, follow your nose onto Hollowford Rd and back into the centre of Castleton. In very windy weather the trees can shed a few bits of tree branches so avoid being beneath them if you have a shiny new van.

November in Castleton

Only the second outing in our caravan. Totally new to caravanning. The site is really nice. Well laid out, clean facilities, very friendly and helpful site warden and surrounded by stunning countryside. The weather wasn't great, but managed to get in a good walk on nearby Loose Hill. The site is only a very short walk from the centre of Castleton so great for shops, cosy pubs and restaurants. Will definitely stay there again.

A lovely part of the country, all lengths of walks, good choice of beers at the local hostelries. Good pitch sizes for 9m outfits. Friendly staff with a well kept site. Thank you.

Great site

First visit to this great site, been trying to book for months, always very popular. Very warm welcome, good size pitch. Weather was very wet but did not stop us doing two good walks direct from the site. Will be sure to return soon.
