Excellent site location, very green & leafy, made to feel very welcome
Bus stop only a few minutes away, buses every fifteen minutes
Great base to explore Cambridge (visits to Trinity College, Great St. Mary’s Church Tower & Kings’ College Chapel are highly recommended).
Quiet location with easy access to city
Visited this site for just one night in order to meet up with friends from Cumbria who were in the area. Had a warm welcome at reception from Kim and Dave who gave us lots of useful information about the site, nearby dog walks, pubs and buses into the city etc. Lovely small site in secluded area but very convenient for visiting Cambridge. Incredibly quiet for being so close to an urban environment. Would definitely recommend and hopefully revisit one day.
Cherry Hinton Cheap way to stay near Cambridge
Nice site and facilities, some pitches a bit tight. Good bus service not too far away.
Will stay again.
Cherry Hinton
A quiet and peaceful site in a good location for attractions in and around Cambridge with the park and ride less than a mile away. We did have an issue with particular pitch we were left with, our choice was very limited as it was very busy, we’d asked for a no awning pitch and the pitch we had was made up of broken concrete and as a result we were walking stones and dust in the caravan, most other pitches looked good, although there was another pitch which looked like a tarmaced yard,
Also the Wi-Fi didn’t work in our area of the site.
These problems should easily be overcome. We expected better.
On the whole the site is as we would expect from the caravan club but probably best not to ask for a pitch without awning.
Great site for visiting Cambridge and this area
We stayed a week here in September 2024. We had a really warm welcome from the assistant wardens. The main wardens, when they returned, were friendly and helpful too. The site is in an old quarry and has many trees surrounding the separate pitching areas so getting a pitch with full sun is almost impossible. That said we were here to visit things. We had good telephone signal and there is Wi-Fi on the site, although we did not use it. Very easy to catch a bus into Cambridge, about every 10 minutes between 2 adjacent bus routes about 10 minutes walk away on path. Cherry Hinton itself had plenty of local shops and dining opportunities and a large TESCO is about 1 mile away, also accessible on bus. Easy to visit NT properties in the area but the A1 was problematic with closures due to incidents. The site as a whole was immaculately clean and I think full all the time we were there. This was not a problem as there are only about 50+ pitches and at this time of the year they were full of couples. Unfortunately there was a tiling problem with one of the gents showers so only 4 open and it meant there were queues in a morning at peak times. I am not sure how long it had been closed but I don't think the Club had any plans to re tile it soon. I would definitely revisit this site again and thank you to the staff for their hospitality
Beware footballs could hid your camper
Pitch was at the back of a school that hire out their facilities bright light, lots of noise and worse heavy balls coming over the top of trees that could land on you camper causing damage. Also hole in the perimeter allowing kids to get in to retrieve the balls!! Also Elsan hose leeks all over the place. Toilet layout very strange not at all happy or felt secure as a single lady on site.
Should have booked hard standing
This a very good site in many ways. It is easily accessed, no windy roads. But, do follow club instructions and not follow Sat Nav. There are quite a few Addenbrooke signs before you reach the traffic lights to finally reach the site. Following SatNav takes you right through Cherry Hinton and it is a bit tricky with a large outfit.
There was a warm and friendly welcome. The site is well maintained and attractive flower beds etc are lovely.
The site is near to the chalk pits and nature reserve which is interesting and the dog enjoyed a walk there. However, there aren't any walks as such from the site other than this. There is a park nearby but I didn't get to suss it out as my rescue dog is very frightened by traffic.
Wimpole Hall was excellent and we enjoyed our visit there.
We tried to get to the pub Fort St George but SatNav took to us to the back streets near to the pedestrian bridge and no parking there. So, we tried driving around the common but no apparent parking there. A bit of research may discover a parking place near to it though.
The Robin Hood pub nearby wasn't our cup of tea. It was ok and some may love it. Rather noisy and commercial.
My only negative experience of this site was our pitch. No 36 is at the lower end of the quarry. It was muddy. It did dry up but overnight rain rendered it muddy again. Being a stone quarry there isn't very good drainage. I feel the club should consider upgrading these grass pitches for me to consider them to be good value.
As I say, mostly a great site and well place for visiting Cambridge and all it has to offer. Just needs the grass pitches sorting out. Book a hard standing instead.

Prima om de stad Cambridge te bezoeken
Vriendelijke ontvangst in de receptie, er werd ons een plek toegewezen, we vonden deze prima. Er is ook een speciale plek voor tenten. Sanitairblok prima, altijd fijn, individuele was cabines.
Nice stop over on road trip
Nice clean friendly site. Only stayed one night but had a nice pitch in a cul-de-sac part of the site. Walked across to the chalk quarry which was fascinating and recaptured by nature. Nice spot for dog walking.
Mixed feelings... please don't allocate pitches!
A pretty site (well, the sun was shining for a change), with attractive nooks and crannies set in an old quarry. But beware, you could end up quite a long way from the toilet block especially if you are allocated a pitch, which I was. The farthest possible away. I don't know if pitches are always allocated or if it was because the site was full - but it's something I hate and I go to CamC sites specifically for the ability to choose my pitch. I passed 3 empty pitches which were still empty in the evening. I was able to move to one but with dire warnings about the (obviously departed) campers returning. They didn't. So good, and it was a nice pitch near the facilities.
No sign of thick muddy puddles etc!
Facilities (smallish) no better or worse than most sites, and perfectly clean.
