Beware Rocks!

First of all I'd like to say that the staff at this site are always extremely friendly and helpful. The site is at the bottom of an old quarry and so the site is mainly a concrete road with stone pitches. There is a lack of 'greenery' for my liking, it has a car park feel to it to me - but that is my taste and lots of people will like the site's look. All the facilities are immaculately clean. Now to the rocks! There are some small areas of grass between pitches and at the sides of some of the road but small boulder-like rocks have been placed purposely to stop cars driving onto the grass. Unfortunately they are very close to the road and it can make it awkward on some pitches to try to reverse your caravan in. I found this out to my peril as I scraped my car below the sill area which will cost me £300 to fix. I don't really think that these stones are necessary for the amount of grass they are protecting and most of the grass would be safe anyway. So beware the rocks!

Great site

We had a great short stay at Buxton. It was brilliant for the dog with good walks in the adjacent country park. It was our first stay in the Peaks and we will definitely be back and stay at Buxton again. The site and facilities were good and clean, even in Autumn. Wi fi was good if expensive and TV reception was OK despite being told it wasn't . We will be back.

Brilliant, except WiFi

Up to the normal high standard of CC sites so it is unexceptionally exceptional. Lots of walks and dog walks nearby (but sheep in some areas). A comfortable walk to the town centre provided hills aren't a problem. 15 minutes from the Monsal trail (by road). My only gripe is to pay £2.50 for WiFi and find it was unusable - it somply doesn't have the capacity when one wants to use it.

Colourfull autumn

The location, within fairly easy walking distance from the centre of Buxton, is excellent. The walk follows footpaths through the surronding country side until you reach the town outskirts and join the roadside pavements. More extensive walks can be made direct from the site. The autumn tints in this area were a delight. Clean facilities as always but we did note the water pressure in the showers was lower that is ideal. Maybe that will be attended to in the refurbishment that is planned.

Mid week break

Warm welcome on arrival from very pleasant assistant warden. Peacefull site location with good walks to Buxton and surrounding area from the site. Good site for dogs with lots of walks just outside site gate. Toilet facilities very clean but showing their age (we saw planning notice for their refurbishment on notice board).  We will definately go again.

Delightful site

Good base for visiting the Peak District, lots of places to visit within a short distance. Pleasant walk into Buxton, the walk back uphill wasn't as bad as we thought it would be! Lovely site. Only downside was the poor mobile phone reception, but that wasn't really a problem

Last Minute Weekend Getaway

Last minute decision to go away but glad we did. This site was clean and tidy, nicely set out and well situated for a leisurely half hour walk to Pooles Cavern and Buxton. Both great places to visit. Had strolled to The Duke one evening for a meal which was well worth the visit. The only downside we found from our visit was the road from the site to the main road into town (which is around 10-15 minutes walk) doesnt have any lights. We would suggest the site install some sort of lighting system along the road for walkers who are strolling back late in the evening.

Buxton is beautiful

Stayed for a weekend visiting friends nearby and its a lovely site - long and narrow but set in an old quarry off the road via a cattle grid. Sheep "decorate" the way in and out! Site beautifully cleana nd tiy and the most friendly lady warden I have met. She accomodated our requests and suggested a  very noce place to have Sunday lunch. All usual CC standards - toilets, washing showers etc.  Fabulous weekend.

Great setting

Yet another beautiful caravan club site I don't know how you do it for such cheap prices. All the staff a pleasure to speak to and site very clean. Good area to stay for all. Plenty of places to visit for all ages and interests. Had a great time.
