Burford......Absolutely!!

My first visit to Burford and pleasantly surprised at the number of bike ride possibilities there were from site by road or one of the many bridleways nearby the site. Like one of the other reviewers I did get the "I've parked on the other side of the site so I should be able to take the shortest route to the facilities even if I walk all over someone else's pitch brigade". There are grass boundaries provided between pitches to walk on but because I had a Campervan and no awning I had several people who seemed to think it was okay to walk right across my pitch within a few feet of my van without a by your leave. Perhaps a few reminders at check in for the more Ignorant or maybe issue cattle prods as well as barrier keys?! The facilities were kept immaculately and the wardens were very friendly and warm. Lots to see and do within reasonable driving distances and some truly beautiful nearby locations in addition to Burford itself which is a very pretty town and actually offers free if slightly limited parking (yes you heard that right FREE) to be able to access the town which does have a rather steep hill you might want to avoid if your legs are a bit wobbly when walking like mine. Would I go again?........already booked and back there in a few days

A lovely well kept and friendly site

Had a fantastic 4 night stay at this site, well kept, clean and spacious on the grass pitches. The wardens were so welcoming, helpful, friendly and hard working...a credit to the club. Recommend the wildlife park over the road and used the discount tickets at reception. We spent over fours hours at the park, lots of shade, toilets and restaurant although busy was well run and the hot food delicous. Be aware Brize Norton just up the road so expect a few overhead fly pasts, did not bother us and provided some entertainment watching their flying skills. We will visit again, our thanks for such a lovely stay.

Our Favourite Site

We have visited this site many times, always our go to site. This year we have made ourselves visit many other sites, all excellent but on returning back to Burford we both agree this remains our favourite. Starting with a lovely warm welcome at reception to generous sized pitches and spotless facilities, it was so good to be back. The wildlife park opposite is a great day out for both adults and children and the club is superb for cycling from, quiet country lanes and beautiful villages all with excellent watering holes. Love it!

A tale of two sites !!!

We were booked in to Cirencester Park from 9th to 16th July which was our 4th time of staying at this site. However, if you expect a warm welcome - forget it!! A staff member was extremely rude and when we spoke to the warden/assistant warden she said he would be very upset to hear this. Nothing about how upset my wife and I were. We asked to have a refund for the rest of our time as we didn't wish to stay any longer. That evening we located an alternative site at Burford and what a difference!!! The ladies on reception greeted us with genuine warmth The male wardens couldn't have been nicer and more helpful even in blistering heat trying to help me unhitch my car which had jammed to the caravan. When it couldn't be mended by them they arranged for an engineer to come the next day. For the remainder of our stay until Thursday they were brilliant - we could not recommend them enough - and that's what a holiday is all about - it's not just the facilities ( which were by the way excellent) - it's about the people. Cirencester is sadly lacking in this regard ( but we did meet a nice member of the team there) and we won't be going back. Burford - we can't wait to stay with you again next year. Many thanks!!

Weeds

This could be a lovely site but the pitches could do with some maintenance such as a bit of weeding, we had two foot weeds growing on the pitch. Also if your not lucky enough to have a pitch around the edge then prepared for inconsiderate people using your pitch as a short cut, on the up side the wardens are some of the most friendly we have ever met and the shower facilities are immaculate.

Brilliant Burford

Another enjoyable short (3days) stay at Burford with its many outstanding places to visit. We find the site always clean and well maintained the shower block etc again clean and accessible to all members irrespective of their mobility. As my wife falls into the category of being less mobile we requested a pitch reasonably close to the shower block and we were delighted with the location of the pitch. Unfortunately this delight was short lived due to the inconsiderate members who used ‘our’ pitch, and the adjacent one as their own personal short cut to the toilet block. Despite subtle and not so subtle hints it continued throughout our stay even to point where I was reversing the car onto the caravan and another caravanner walked between the car and caravan even though the car was moving! I understand that we only ‘rent’ the pitches for the duration of our stay but I have always believed that when walking around a club site you stuck to the pathways and did not walk across other peoples pitches. Am I in a minority in this belief? or just someone who is out of touch and wanting to hold on to good manners and show consideration for others? When we originally joined, the Caravan Club displayed signs around the sites requesting people not to cross other pitches. Although these signs are not displayed any more surely common sense and consideration for your fellow members should prevail and allow all to enjoy the peace and tranquillity that our hobby provides.

A fabulous site.

We stayed at Burford for 7 nights. This was our second visit. Everything was as we remembered. Only one golden retriever this time but little Harry was new to us and he stood wagging his tail when we arrived at reception. The staff are very kind, helpful and caring, they work very hard to keep the site as it should be. I must add they succeed. We visited the Cotswold Wildlife Park and used the site's reduced ticket price when booking in the reception. The CWP is well worth a visit. We really enjoyed our day there. Witney is a pretty village close by with a good selection of pubs and cafes. Nice shops and a very attractive main street. Cogges Farm is a must for Downton Abby fans, it was the setting for Willow Farm in the series. We did enjoy our visit there. Chastleton House and Garden (NT) is interesting as the house has not been renovated but is as it was when the Trust took it over. The gardens are large with some very old trees in the gardens. We also visited Moreton-in-Marsh and Oxford. I feel sure we will be visiting Burford again,

Great Time At Burford!

We stayed at Burford Caravan Club Site Sun 19th June - Sat 25th June 2022. We stayed here in 2013 too. The site is as we remembered it, a big clean fantastic site. Easy towing access in and out. Toilets clean, staff friendly and helpful. We had a trip to Windsor Castle booked which we did from here which was fantastic. The rest of the week we explored Bourton on the Water including the Motor Museum and The Model Village. We went to Witney, Chipping Norton, Moreton on the Marsh. On our final day we went to the Cotswold Wildlife Safari Park & Gardens which we bought from the Caravan Club Site shop on the day - discounted tickets for members. The Cotswold Wildlife Safari Park & Gardens was brilliant as was our whole week. We had fantastic warm sunny weather and when it did lightly rain near the end of the week we were either in our car driving or in bed asleep! Thank you to the staff at Burford for being so helpful, friendly and welcoming. Thank you to the Caravan Club site for making our week so enjoyable and comfortable. :)

Perfect Wardens

Arrived on site to be met by the most friendly assistant warden instructed to find pitch and return to office to pay. Our whole stay was enhanced by the sites wardens who took the time to talk to us and engaged above and beyond good service. (Gold Medal) The site was spotless and in an ideal location near the wild life park.

Beautiful Burford

Initially booked for 3 nights on the way to the south west ended up staying for 8 due to complete fridge failure on arrival and having to wait for engineer to come out to us. The wardens Anne, Martyn, Ricky and Catherine were exceptional in their help and support, every time we appeared in the office, which was frequently! We were met with a smile and further offers of help. The site itself is fabulous, almost park like, very spacious and peaceful...no grass cutting on a daily basis..bliss. Lovely to see considerate dog owners on this site too, thank you. Facilities very clean. Various food vans on site throughout the week, fish and chips were fantastic. Site in a great spot to visit numerous pretty Cotswold villages and the safari park is across the road from the site too. Will definitely visit again but will take bikes as lots of little lanes to explore. Thanks again to the wardens.
