Lovely site!

First time to this site and area and we made the right choice! Great for the family-play area was ideal for our girls and entertained them for hours, whilst we had some rare peace and quiet time! Wildlife Park opposite was brilliant and a real bonus you can take the dog, plus you get reduced priced tickets if you buy from the wardens. The site is kept lovely and clean by the hard working wardens, but some shower cubicles are looking a little tired (rust from grab handles). The wardens go out of their way to help-even hunted around and gave us some of their own rope for free, to help us attach a new sleep pod in our awning, which made our girls very happy. Oh one thing to help other dog owners-you can't take them to Puzzlewood in Forest of Dean, but their adverts in leaflets don't mention it and you think being a wood they would be allowed! We made the 40+ mile trip to find this out-ended up at Cannop Ponds which is a lovely walk. Had an amazing break.

A really beautiful site

This was our second visit to Burford. Obviously being August it was busy which is to be expected. Plenty of families around enjoying themselves but not making a nuisance of themselves like we have seen on other sites. The wardens were lovely people - very friendly and helpful. I congratulated them on all the beautiful flowers they had around reception - really brightened the place up. They also grew some lovely herbs which anyone could help themselves to - nice gesture. The toilets and showers were kept clean but I do agree with the reviewer who complained about other members not clearing up after themselves. It is just inconsiderate to others. The Cotswold Wildlife Park was brilliant. We took our great niece who was staying with us over there and the whole place was packed with animals who were extremely well looked after with plenty of space. The discounts offered by the club were  an added bonus too. The playground on site was vey good - tucked out of sight if you didn't want it but plenty of space for the children to play there. All in all an excellent site

Burford club site

This site really is a gem, well worth a return visit. We found the Wardens very helpful. Car parking in Carterton is free, we parked and took the bus into Oxford which saved the trouble of trying to park. There was no noise from the wildlife park while we were there.

FELLOW USERS

The site itself is in a great position, although the neighbouring wildlife park inmates could be noisy! The facilities were very good but oh fellow users you really could do better. On this site every time, without fail, we four adults went to use the showers we had to clean them before we could use them, and of course after we used them too! One thing I hate is cleaning up other folks hair from basins and showers. Another pet hate is users of the toilets not leaving them in a usable state. Come on users you are letting the club down with slovenly ways.

A lovely site in an excellent location

This was our first visit to Burford and the site in now firmly in our top 5 Caravan Club sites and we will be returning. The site is very well maintained and the wardens work tirelessly to keep it so from the day to day cleaning to the management of the grounds. While they always seemed to be doing something they also managed to remain ‘anonymous’ until you needed them and then there they were. The wardens were the least fussy of just about any that I have come across and this lead to a very relaxing, laid-back holiday experience. We were somewhat disappointed with Burford itself. While quite pretty there are many others in the area much prettier. The shops are clearly aimed at the coach parties (most in the area seem to be) that come to the area with prices high for everything from souvenirs to lunch. For day to day shopping there is a Coop but the 3 supermarkets in Carterton which is only a few miles away are a better option. Witney was a bit of a hidden gem. While not as pretty as many of the other nearby villages it had a good range of shops from High Street names to local businesses split into two distinct areas, the old High Street / Market Square and a more modern but tastefully planned shopping centre. The market wasn’t up to much but with free parking for up to 9 hours in the town centre multi-storey it’s worth a visit. We had lots of lovely walks in and around the nearby towns and villages, a trip to the Roman Villa (we went on a Roman themed day which was excellent), The Corinium Museum in Cirencester (excellent value at about £5 per adult) and a nice day in Burton-on-the-Water (but avoid the model village, rip off at over £3 per adult and then they have the cheek to charge another £1 per person for the model museum inside). The Old Mill at Lower Slaughter is pretty but not worth a visit in itself, one small shop, an overpriced museum and a very small tea room; if you want to visit consider including in your day to Burton-on-the-Water and don’t bother with the museum (one small room). Leaving the best attraction until last a visit to the Cotswolds Wildlife Park across the road from the site is a must. With its beautiful gardens, variety of animals, open view enclosures and caring staff it is an excellent day out. The food and drink options are also very reasonable (although we took a picnic and used the covered area provided on an overcast and showery day) and the entry fee very good value for money even before the discount one can get if you take advantage of the offer on the club site.

Excellent but need to pay attention to details

We have been to Burford a number of times and enjoyed it every time, including this visit. The site, the location, the wardens, the atmosphere are consistently excellent. BUT things are starting to need to be attended to - we found a number of small things that add up to a need for a bit of attention. We found leaking taps, running toilets, worn chemical toilet emptying point, and other minor points that individually are not significant but unfortunately they start to add up. It is a busy site and the wardens are great and work very hard but an end of season spruce up would be a good idea. We will be back to enjoy ourselves again but lets keep the caravan club standards.

Lovely site

This is a very attractive site with lots of beautifully manicured grass and spacious pitches. The wardens are very helpful and all is clean and well tended. It is next to the Cotswold Wildlife Park which you can literally walk across the road to and it is well worth a visit. We would definitely recommend this site and look forward to a return visit.

Great Site

We stayed here for a week at the beginning of August 2016, great site, clean, well maintained, shower block always clean and tidy, the park was the best we've been to (even though there are no 'grown up' swings as my kids pointed out), friendly, helpful welcoming staff. Fantastic time had by all, would happily visit again.
