Been visiting this site for years now and unfortunately we find it to be far below the standard it used to be. The hardstandings are overgrown with grass and weeds. During the last couple of weeks of the season all the grass pitches were closed but the site was 'full', surely more money could have been made for the Club had more pitches been made available. I observed one poor lady in the shower block struggling to shower her child and having to leave the shower door open to do so - she had been told the family room was closed for redecorating, we had been on site for days and there was no sign of redecorating going on, neither was there on subsequent days. The disabled room was not up to standard at all, with ceiling panels missing and the drain for the shower was dangerous in that there was little to no grout around the drain itself, leaving sharp edges on which disabled people could have cut themselves and the shower head was leaking and had been stuck together with some kind of clear tape, this is only a few minutes job to replace either the whole thing or just the shower head. In general the toilet blocks were cold with not always a clean look to them but a strong smell of bleach after the 'cleaning time'. We have visited other sites much further north later in the year and when the outdoor temperatures have been much lower but their toilet blocks were always warm. The whole site shows a general lack of maintenance from peeling paint on entrance and exit barriers to weedy hardstandings and overgrown grass. This site is situated in a wonderful location, there is some noise from the nearby Cotswold Wildlife Park and RAF Brize Norton but neither of these really spoil the site. However the lack of care now given to the site by the current and some previous wardens leaves a lot to be desired. Remarks have been left in the comments book - which on occasion have somehow 'disappeared' also comments left with the wardens but the only response we got was 'We are only here for this season so it isn't really up to us.' I think it is up to them, we all pay for these sites and in the past we have been given a certain standard, which is sadly now lacking at Burford. The only reason we return to it is because we have family very close to it.
We stayed at Burford in our camper van (2 adults, 2 kids under 8) in early November, just before the site closed for the season. The kids had a great time gathering windfall apples from the enormous apple tree, and playing in the lovely wooden playground. The staff were welcoming, and facilities were clean and warm. We'd definitely stay here again if visiting the Cotswolds.

Very helpful and cheerful wardens. Site well maintained and toilet block clean. I would endorse all the positive reviews.
Only 4 stars given for facilities due to the fact of service points were limited in certain areas of the site.
Just returned from our first visit to this lovely site but hope it won't be our last. The wardens were the friendliest we had ever had the lady warden greeted us with a wave and smile every time we went in and out of the site. The toilets and lovely hot showers were always clean no matter what time of day or night we used them. The site is in a very good position for visiting all the Cotswolds and the site is only 2 miles from the lovely shops in Burford. Thursday night is steak night, Friday is fish and chips and Saturday is pizza so all tastes are catered for. The peace is only interrupted every so often by the big planes coming and going from Brize Norton but we found them fascinating, we also had hot air balloons and a red kite could always be seen somewhere flying over. The WiFi was extra but very reliable unlike other sites we have used. The showers were always clean with unlimited hot water. This is a lovely site and worth a visit.
Once again we returned to this site to meet up with friends and thoroughly enjoyed our stay and visiting the surrounding area.
We were on Pitch 59 and were disappointed that none of the bollards in this area were lit after dark and as it was dark by about 7pm this was a problem as the whole area was pitch black. We, like a number of others, travel with a dog which needs to go out after dark, luckily we do carry torches and of course used our awning light but this left taking our dog out after dark somewhat of a problem as no way could one see in the dog walking area!!
The site was well placed for visiting surrounding areas, site was kept very clean .the cleaning times for the toilet block were well timed being in the afternoon when most people would be out visiting. The wardens do a good job and were very friendly.
My only concern (this applies to all kid friendly sites) is Kids riding scooters to fast day and Night.,plus some drivers don't understand the 5mph speed limit.
Stayed at Burford for last weekend in September. The weather was glorious and as we arrived on a Thursday when it was quiet we were able to drive round and choose our own pitch. Check in was quick and easy, nice friendly greeting. Shower block is spotless and lovely hot showers, and joy of joy no button to keep pressing for water, showers had a tap and hot water was instant. Never had to wait for a shower or loo and site did get busier at the weekend. Some aircraft noise on the Friday eve, large planes flying low into Brize Norton air base which is close but didn’t bother us much, and we amazed looking up at the planes. Nothing else heard during the weekend. Great location for touring the Cotswolds, we did all the main villages and few smaller ones. It’s simply beautiful countryside. One thing to mention, a mobile van visits on the Thursday eve that does steak and frites. Save your money, the steak was cut into tiny slivers and was chewy and grisly and we both wasted most of it. £15ph for that! Apart from that was all pretty perfect.
Easy to find following the directions given on the website. Hadn’t used this site before but had stayed at Bladon Chains a short distance away. This site is much better as far as we’re concerned, much more peaceful and very little road noise compared to Bladon Chains. We got pitched on grass as the ground looked nice and firm and got set up quickly and ready to relax for a few days away, This site is a great base for exploring. The park and ride for Oxford is around 20-30 minutes drive away and well worth the money. We drove around the pretty villages and countryside and really enjoyed ourselves. We were there during one of the storms and decided to extend our stay by one night to avoid towing home in high winds. We popped along to reception and this was sorted out for us with no problem. Although we don’t have children we noticed that there was a great looking play area and the wildlife park is literally right across the road (discounted tickets from reception) and you do hear some of the animals through the day but we rather enjoyed that. The wardens were all very friendly and they had regular trips around the site to empty the bins and clear up the falling leaves. The shower block was always spotless when we used it and although we probably couldn’t have been further away from it if we’d tried we quite enjoyed the walk, it was after all our choice to pitch up at the far end of the site.
All in all we enjoyed our stay and will return if we’re planning on coming this way again.
Burford is a great site as a base for this part of the Cotswolds. The site is a nice size and the wardens are very helpful and friendly. On the flip side, I thing the site is a little tired. The pitches have suffered from the dry weather but should recover by 2019. The sole toilet block is the standard fare but the showers are narrower than the ones I normally come across on CMC sites. Also, I thing an extra service point wouldn't go amiss. It's a fair hike to them if you park at the bottom.
