Regular Customer

We love this site and return many times a year. Although you can get a discount at reception for visiting the Cotswold Wildlife Park (just over the road from the entrance), we have taken out a Season Ticket. BTW they allow dogs, which has proved very successful for them eg a keeper told me income is up by over 35%. Why don't more Zoos follow its a winner? The site is well managed and up to the normal high standards of a flagship C&MH site - no complaints and you will not be disappointed. My only request is please consider opening all year round - I'm sure you would get the footfall to justify this - after all, the Wildlife Park is open all year plus Burford is only 2 miles up the road and has Motorhome parking (if you know where to look) and draws a lot of people over the Xmas period.

Great site - friendly helpful staff, excellent clean facilities

We were novice caravanners in our first week with a van and staff were helpful and friendly. Facilities spotless and very good - modern and spacious. We used both the visiting pizza and fish and chip vans and both were really good, and good value too.

Disappointing visit

Very disappointed as we drove onto the site as grass was very long and hard standings badly needed weeding. Rain could not be used as excuse as we live very local to site and we had not experienced abnormal rainfall in previous weeks. Another downside was that the toilet annexe was kept closed for the whole week as the warden had decided that the site was not busy enough to open it, (me thinks so that they did not have to clean it) resulting in that at least 3 morning the women had to queue for showers. This has never happened in the 10 years that we have been using the site. Also the dog bin had been removed from outside the toilet block which left dog owners disposing of dog poo in general dustbins. There was a noticeable lack of warden activity on site while we were there but hopefully next season will see a new set of wardens who care as most of them have done in the past.

Fantastic Wardens and helpers.

This is a fantastic site. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Facilities are clean and tidy.Pitches are large with free TV hook up for each serviced pitch. Special concessions have been arranged with the Cotswold Wildlife Park (just across the road from the site) . This is well worth a visit. Outside hot food vans for Pizza, fish and chips and steak visit the site during the week all of whom are very welcome. The staff are very helpful. The air valve on my Inflatable Awning decided to leak so I contacted the site before arrival to enquire if I could use the address to have a new valve delivered to them on my behalf. They were kept me well informed but sadly the parcel never arrived. Think they were as disappointed as me. All in all a great site. Would recommend to anyone. We will return.

Take a torch,

This is the darkest site I have ever been to, they have lights but their to mean to turn them on, take a torch, and look out for the fastest grass mower on the planet very dangerous

One of the Best

Third visit to this site and it sets a benchmark for other sites to follow. Lovely friendly wardens who worked tirelessly to keep the place spotless. Good facilities and despite it being the August Bank holiday never had to to queue for toilets or showers. We stayed on a lovely spacious service pitch surrounded by grass and trees. Several vendors supplying takeaways, fish and chips, Pizza's and Steak and Friesland. Plenty to do in the area including some glorious Cotswolds pubs.

Excellent Site - Small Poles Welcome

Having read the previous review for this site (which you should do before reading this one) we arrived at Burford with some trepidation. You see, at 5’3” and from a small village in Poland , I was worried that my wife would not be accepted. We needn’t have worried. We were met by Penny (as mentioned in the previous review) and could not have been made more welcome. I can categorically state that Penny has nothing against Poles, small or otherwise! (or indeed any other nationalities from what I could tell). She was polite, helpful and everything you would hope for when checking into a new site. The site was clean and well tended. We couldn’t have really asked for more. Whilst there we visited the Cotswold Wildlife Park directly across the road from the site (this was something we hadn’t planned to do). I have to say how impressed we were. The gardens are spectacular and the animals live in lovely enclosures which allow them to be viewed easily and can be accessed by the public (where appropriate of course). The Lemur walk was so good we did it twice! It’s often confusing when there are very differing reviews but I was always taught to ‘judge as you find’ and our experience was a positive and enjoyable one - thank you Burford team!

Rude staff

Before arrival on our stay I had rang and asked if I could have a small pole delivered which would be used for our sun canopy (missing a pole) One of the 2 penny’s on the site advised me No on no circumstances was anything to be sent here and no one would sign for it and continues to huff and puff Over the phone at me ..and question the size of the box Not a nice start before our arrival ! Just very off with me over the phone unlike caravan club sites usually are Cirencester May I add the staff rare wonderful no problems there at all ! When I arrived I said about the parcel not being able to be sent I was disappointed with the approach as was only a small item I straight away had an apology from penny telling me she was wrong to speak to me the way she did and sorry for being “off “ Anyway I had the parcel delivered off my own back and instructions to call me when arrive i would walk down and sign for it myself .. I think this site also looks slightly scruffy round the edges compared to others , these wardens seriously need changing . Unimpressed ... back to Cirencester it is !

Comment from the Club:

Thank you very much for your review of the Burford Site. The Club is assured that site staff continuously strive to provide a good level of customer service, and therefore we are sorry to hear that the service you experienced didn't meet your expectations.

The Club is licensed as a touring Club and not for residential purposes, therefore, we would not be able to receive regular deliveries/post on a long term basis for members staying/or not staying on site.  We of course have no objection for site users being sent Birthday Cards, one off parcel deliveries etc. whilst on site,(as in this case) as long as the Site Staff are informed of this. However, if a parcel is being delivered that requires a signature, staff may not be available to accept delivery for this and cannot be held responsible, should there be any damage to the said item. We hope this has addressed your concerns.

We are going back for the fourth time in three years

Fabulous site. We are returning for the fourth time inside three years next week. It's the site we most look forward to visiting. I don't think we've ever had anything to complain about. Just a very, very good site. I just wish all club sites could be like this one. Staff are great. The pitches are nice and open. The facilities are good. Access to the site is easy. The wildlife park is a bonus, and it's a lovely place to visit for a day. Burford can get busy during the Summer, but it's just a little too far to walk to from the site, so parking can be an issue if you go when the sun is out.

Burford Pleasant site and wonderful location

We’ve stayed at this site a number of times, and again had a first rate visit. The site is well maintained, with pleasant and helpful wardens. Well situated for the Wildlife park, and discounted tickets are available from the site shop. We do have a car so getting about is no issue. Burford itself is a lovely place, and Witney which is only a 15 minute drive is a super place to shop and eat. Parking is free, which is always a bonus. We visited the Cotswolds woollen weavers, which is only five minutes away and is an interesting mix of museum and shop, selling some well made woollen clothing, and retro toys and goods. They have a small tearoom which sells a small variety of snack and cakes. Burford garden centre is near by, and sell a great range of goods. It’s is a little pricey if you fancy a meal of just coffee and cake. Our only niggle is the amount of space being taken up by some caravaners. We encountered a number of pitches where it was car , caravan, awning, large windbreak intruding well into the “firebreak areas”. One had even set up a badminton court making it difficult to get into the children’s play area. At busy times children can be noisy but didn’t really cause us any problems. We’ve all been children ourselves. I’ve only marked the location with 4 stars as you do need a car to get about. Burford is c10 miles away.
