a gem of a site

This really is a little gem of site. Why? Well, perhaps it’s the location, close to all sorts of things, including historic houses by the oodle and historic cities such as Worcester and Hereford. Perhaps it’s the convenience of local towns such as Malvern and Bromyard. Perhaps it’s the walking options which are plentiful, including the Malvern Hills and Bromyard Downs themselves. Perhaps it’s the fact that towing to the site is so simple, from main roads or from the M5 at Worcester. But perhaps it’s because when you turn in you find you’re entering a different world- an oasis of peace and calm. “Stop the world- I want to get off”!!! It really is a little gem of a site. There’s no play area so it may not be so suitable for young children. There’s no toilet block either – but there is a herb garden you can use for fresh herbs, minutes from your pitch. At times there can be a little road noise but it quietens down at night and, to be honest, after a few minutes I soon tuned out the road sounds and focused instead on the plentiful supply of birdsong. The wardens, who are tremendously kind, knowledgeable and helpful, have planted and put out many pots of flowers and soon the site will be a riot of colour. There are 2 pitching areas so each part has more the feel of a CL – no multiple rows of caravans- but the pitch size does tend to reflect what was the norm. 20 years ago- hardly a problem. If you just want a pleasant place to sit in a deckchair and relax then is also the site for you. In short, if you want an “all singing/all dancing” site with toilet block, laundry facilities and piped music this isn’t the place for you. If you’re not bothered about all that malarkey (or if you actively DON’T want it) then this probably is just the place. It’s certainly a lovely site to stay on, with heaps going for it.

BROMYARD DOWNS.

This was one of our very favourite sites but having just spent a week there as Motorhomers and dog owners we found that the new local Bus company-DRM Buses refuse to take any dogs-Thanks to some fellow campers who gave us a lift into Worcester. -So we will not be coming anymore-cannot get into Worcester,Hereford or Bromyard. This is a quiet friendly site-No toilet blocks obviously-Plenty of walks all around. The location would be ideal except for road noise from the A44. Thanks also to PK Mobile Caravan Services who helped us and 2 other couples with early season teething troubles.

Bromyard Downs

Always look forward to visiting this site. No toilet block means a cheaper site and as have own facilities this is not a problem. Friendly wardens who have done a good job with spring flowers on site. Good walks, either on the heath or across road to Brockhampton Estate (National Trust) Have only given 1 star for families as there is no playground due to the layout and size of the site. Ideal for couples.

Welltravelled

The pitches and roads on the lower part of the site are a disgrace.ok the weather was wet but there had been no maintenance what so ever on the pitches were mostly mud and shouldn't be described as hard standing. The site is in a beautiful location  and needs the pitches restoning. Also needs drainage in the road.

Charming site

A beautiful site, well laid out, clean and well maintained. Helpful warden(s). No toilet block not a problem as it is well documented before you book. A little traffic noise at times, but no worse than any other site that I've used. Plenty of wildlife and plenty of birds of all types. Overall, a fantastic site and I will be back next year for more. No internet makes it an even more peaceful break! :)

Walks and wildlife

A lovely small site with clean facilities, well looked after, with friendly, knowledgeable and helpful wardens. Surrounded by trees; woken most mornings by a woodpecker! Lots of birds, squirrels and rabbits. Walks close by most of which we didn't have time to discover so will be back. Easy access to NT Brockhampton Estate which is a real gem with a variety of walks. Bus stop right outside site to get to cathedral cities: Hereford and Worcester; also, the nearest small town, Bromyard -well worth a visit with a variety of individual shops. We walked there along a well-marked path across the Downs. The only downside is close proximity to the A44 which can be quite noisy but we got used to it during our 4 night stay. Not really a problem as out most of the day and less traffic at night. A good place to stay.

Small tranquil beauty!

Major points for me: Access to site - perfect, with compromise being next to main A44 run. Space on site - tight but adequate (twin, with no mover, first timer). No clinical lines of vans. Wardens ready to help- and did help to avoid car on grass. No problem at all. We needed levelling - Twins are tricky, all down to my lack of experience, but took a while, however taking a spirit level helps :-/ Great access to Brockhampton national trust walk it, we also went for drive to croft castle national trust too 20m away. Great cover from wind on lower site Slightly close to road for traffic noise, didn't bother us, but was mentioned by family They could hear some trucks passing. Clean basic facilities regularly cleaned, no issue with no toilet or shower as this is what we expected. Will be going back as its local offers great value on Freedom scheme! Some basic consumables available in office, buscuits etc. Can't ask for much more from a basic site!! Great experience with CC first time out touring!  Thank you Bromyard Downs. (Also thank you to people who helped on other pitches!) very friendly bunch!

Mucky

Stayed here for 2 nights non awning pitch. Very mucky to walk on. Grey cement type surface on the road. It had been raining so grass and dog walk muddy. Caravan inside got really dirty. Roads to top of site Tarmac and clean but not many hard standings. A lot of road noise so close to road as it is a busy road.
