Return Visit

By my calculation this was our 5th visit to Broadway and it doesn't disappoint. Over the years the greenery has grown up which gives the site a mature feel. This time we were pitched just down from reception so there was a little noise from the nearby road but nothing to spoil the stay. As we are using our own facilities so I cannot comment on the toilet block, although I did note the higher block was closed but don't know why. The site has one of the more modern open grill motorhome points which is welcome. Mobile food vendors are on site several days a week and reception can provide details. It is a reasonably easy walk into Broadway which was pretty busy during our visit. The major change from our previous visit was that the rebuilding of Broadway Station is complete and steam trains are running.

Perfect place to relax

My family and I have just returned from a seven night stay at the Broadway club site and what a wonderful site it is. Staff were extremely friendly and helpful and made sure the grounds and facilities were well cared for. We had a sunny pitch with a large hedge-lined grass area behind it. This gave a lovely secluded place to sit, relax and listen to the beautiful sound of the passing steam engines. We liked the fact that the main village was only a 15/20 minute walk from the site and enjoyed strolling around the charming, unique selection of shops. The Cotswolds is such a beautiful part of the country and this site provides the perfect base to explore. We look forward to returning again soon.

Very impressed

This was our first visit to Broadway, and we would be very happy to return. It’s an easy site to find and access. It sits on two levels, with flat pitches, regularly separated by hedges for extra privacy. We would have preferred the upper level for a view of the steam railway, but of course there were none available at this busy time of year. The advantage of the bottom level is that you do not have a steep flight of stairs to negotiate to reach the shower block. Although, it didn’t apply to our pitch some are parallel to the main road into Broadway, so there is a fair bit of road noise during the day. The site is surrounded by mature trees, giving it a secluded feel. Facilities were the usual standard of cleanliness, and the site is very well maintained. Food vans attended on many evenings, and we would recommend Pizza Alfresco. The location is excellent. Broadway village is a twenty minute walk, from which you have access to the Cotswold Way and other paths for walking, which is our main activity. The Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Steam Railway runs right past the site, for a bit of nostalgic train spotting. The original goods shed is on the site, and the station is just across from the site entrance. The journey down to Cheltenham is picturesque. The site also gives easy access to other Cotswold villages. There is also a bus service from the site entrance to places like Evesham. In short, we really enjoyed our stay, and would wish to return. The only reason for the four star rating for peace and quiet is the same as it is for most sites these days- there seem to be a lot more dogs now, and their barking does become tiresome.

Great site

We found Broadway to be well run, the staff were cheerful, friendly and helpful. There were plenty of hand sanitisers on site to keep people as safe as possible. The site was clean and tidy and the grounds are well maintained. We wanted a site with a playground as we were taking our grandson for his first caravan holiday, which he loved! We would certainly return to this site - plenty of walks and plenty of places of interest within driving distance.

Really nice site.

I cannot speak too highly of the staff at this lovely site. They were friendly, cheerful, helpful and efficient. The whole site was really neat and tidy. The Auto-Sleepers factory and service centre is a short drive away, and my main reason for visiting Broadway was to have a hab check and get some guarantee work done. I was so glad that circumstances took me there - it's a really nice site in a lovely location. In this time of COVID-19 I've decided to use the shower and toilet in my van, so cannot speak about the site toilets and ablutions from first-hand experience but fellow campers told me that they were very clean... It was a standard hard-standing pitch for one night and a serviced hard-standing pitch for the second and third nights of the stay. Both were good, but slightly sloped, and levelling blocks were needed. Broadway is a very pretty tourist village and just a ten or fifteen minute stroll from the site. Shops are twee and expensive, but there is an excellent Co-op very well stocked with a surprising range of groceries and fresh foods: Broadway is a posh little place and the Co-op has more and posher goods than the Co-op in my much more prosaic West Yorkshire village. I'd forgotten the USB-C smartphone charging cord, and one was not to be had for either love or money in Broadway, but by chance was available from the petrol station opposite the site entrance. The Cotswold countryside is stunning, and there are plenty of walks for those so inclined. I found some excellent footpaths radiating from Broadway, all well signposted. If you like to walk, definitely pack your boots... On the first day I was surprised and delighted to hear the beat of a steam locomotive and realised that a steam railway ran alongside the site. It's the splendid GWSR, and the entrance to the Broadway terminus station is just opposite the site entrance. (In fact the site stands on ex-railway land and one of the site buildings was once the goods shed.) Riding the train was a really good half day out, and very well worth the £25 ticket cost. The Broadway station cafe is also very highly recommended for excellent filter coffee and buns... It's possible to book online in advance or to buy tickets on the day. This was a really enjoyable stay which I hope will be repeated.

The friendliest wardens we've yet met

Great location, just outside Broadway village. A short stroll from the GWSR steam railway. The friendliest wardens we've yet met - despite us visiting in a heatwave. The site is well kept, clean. Large pitches. We'll be back.

One of our favourite sites

We have been to Broadway site a few times now and I can honestly say it’s one of my favourite sites on the network. All the wardens on this site were really friendly and approachable and it was nice to be greeted with a smile when we arrived which isn’t always the case at a. Lot of sites. It’s a short stroll into the village of Broadway where you will find some nice friendly pubs if drinking is your thing. The Swan and Crown and Trumpet are nice for food. We ate at the swan on this occasion and the food was very good so we wouldn’t hesitate to go in there again. Russell’s chippy is also worth a visit as the fish n chips are very good, they aren’t the cheapest but I guess it’s a captured audience so to speak. The only complaint really and this applies to a lot of the CMH sites is the toilet set up. This site has the cleaning of the toilet blocks performed in an afternoon which I have to say works very well and eliminates the rush to get showered in the morning before 10am etc so that would certainly be nice to see on more sites. The problem we had was the set up for toilet use in the morning. Due to Covid there is a band system in place like most sites but in the men’s two of the main toilets were closed due to social distancing which meant quite a queue for everyone to do what comes naturally. This site has two unisex toilets which were open when the main blocks were being cleaned in the afternoon. However when people really needed them the most (in the morning) to my amazement they were locked which meant for me and a lot of others guests having to hold ourselves while in the queue knowing that for some strange reason two toilets were closed which isn’t really very customer focused is it!!. I have no idea if it’s the wardens or the club that makes the decision regarding what time toilets are cleaned and which ones should be open or closed but on this occasion it felt like they were for some reason personally trying to make it difficult for the guests. I do think the club sometimes needs to remember they are supposed to be operating on behalf of the members and certainly during these strange times when toilets are at a minimum open up any others that they possibly could. Oh well off to Hawes this weekend where ‘apparently’ the toilets are closed from 9:45-12:00 with no others available talk about making it difficult for people.

John and Val's visit

This is another CMC site gem. Sitting just outside the lovely Cotswold town of Broadway (in walking distance), and next to the Glos and Warwick preserved steam train line, this is an idyllic site for exploring the Cotswolds. The site clean and tidy, and the wardens make sure the covid rules and adhered too. We were only able to book a few days, but we will be going back
