I enjoyed a relaxing three nights here last weekend.
Flat pitches, well kept grounds and facilities.
Particular appreciation is extended to the wardens, who were friendly, good humoured and helpful.
Well for the 2nd year running we had to utilise the Caravan for our main holiday. As we not visited Wales before then off we set , Weather turned as we set off, journey from NE to Brecon was simple and straight forward, Directions to site got us straight there. Pitched up, Awning Up, decided to stretch legs so went for lovely walk from site, along Canal into Brecon, yes you need to cross a main road but that same road is what allows for good access to site. Found Wardens very helpful in all time we there, people respected the band restrictions for toilet block, 1 or 2 little errors but am sure it was by accident than on purpose. Lovely drives, villages and walks very close by. Read the reviews about road noise, this obviously must be to do with where you pitch, we heard nothing and am a very light sleeper. Overall for my first welsh visit then would defo return.
Unfortunately the road noise is very loud and disturbs your peace - we ended up on a service pitch as no others available and these back onto the road, no TV antenna either on service pitch and drain / tap not in the most helpful of places.
Wardens are the usual stern / abrupt selves and talk to you like you are stupid - they then to proceed to hare round the site at speeds in excess of 5mph on their buggies.
Kids and cycles everywhere and not following one way system.
facilities clean.
Good location for canal walk / cycle into brecon.
Super helpful and friendly camp managers, they obviously care about making sure their visitors are well looked after. Excellent facilities, only a few minutes from Brecon town centre and easy access to glorious countryside.
WE HAVE JUST SPENT 5 NIGHTS AT THE BRECON BEACONS SITE.
THE SITE AND FACILITIES ARE SO SO CLEAN AND TIDY , A CREDIT TO THE CLUB.
ONLY ONE THOUGHT, THE DOG WALK WOULD BE BETTER IF IT WAS MADE TO BE A ONE WAY SYSTEM, WHEN YOU EXIT THE DOG WALK IT CAN BE A BIT INTIMIDATING WHEN YOU HAVE A SMALL DOG AND NEED TO ENTER AND A LARGE DOG NEEDS TO EXIT, IF IT WERE MADE A ONE WAY SYSTEM, THIS WOULD NOT HAPPEN, AND DOGS WOULD NOT COME FACE TO FACE WITH EACH OTHER, ALSO WHY PEOPLE DO NOT PICK UP AND CLEAN THEIR DOG POO, I DO NOT KNOW, THIS IS A BRILLIANT DOG WALK ITS A SHAME SOME CLUB MEMBERS DO NOT APPRECIATE IT !!!!!!
OTHER THAN THAT, YOU WILL HAVE A BRILLIANT TIME, WALK ALONG THE CANAL INTO BRECON, AND THEN THE OTHERWAY UP TO THE LOCK. BUY YOURSELF AN ICE CREAM AT THE LOCK BASIN IT IS FABULOUS AND MASSIVE.
DAN YR OGOF CAVES ARE WELL WORTH A VISIT.
We spent a few days here at the beginning of July and really enjoyed it. Yes, there is traffic noise but we didn't find it too intrusive and the nearby road makes access in and out very easy. Look on the bright side.
Facilities were excellent and having two shower blocks means at least one is always open. The pitches are large and well spaced. Our hosts were always on best smiley form.
The pleasant town of Brecon is a short canalside walk away and the same cycle trail along the canal, if followed the other way, is a delightful trip through idyllic countryside. Overall, a great base from which to explore the locality.
Despite the 2 A roads that run past the site we found it to be reasonably quiet. It is a lovely area we managed to climb Pen-Y-Fan and walk into Brecon along the canal. This site is nice and well maintained, the site staff are very nice and helpful and keep smiling even though they are under pressure with the extra work caused by the covid
Everything about this site is great bar the traffic noise, lorries thundering past at all hours, cars racing off from the bearby roundabout and 2 very fast busy roads either side of the site. I guess the best pitches are in the middle of the site, we booked serviced pitch which were pn the outside of the field.
Found this site wonderful, staff very pleasant and helpful, there is road noise but wouldn’t say extreme had two solid night sleep . Found facilities spotless very COVID secure near the canal path to walk into town 20 mins or 30 depending on how fast you walk . The wrist bands is a good idea but don’t think people understand how it works silly I know as I came out two men walked in but didn’t put wristbands on board , but not staff fault .As was busy we stayed on pitch 97 by shower block but didn’t effect our stay .Maybe in future club should look into when booking you can book a pitch at same time .
This is by far one of the nicest sites that we have been too. The staff were so friendly and welcoming and very accomodating.
The facilities were spotless and the site itself is very clean.
It is set in a lovely quiet area despite it being next to a main road. We slept really well and had no issues with the road.
The site is animal friendly so great if you have any animals.
I would definately highly recommend this site
