Well this site has everything that we look for. Peace and quiet. Great walking from site and lovely clean facilities but the best of all are the wardens. Yvonne and Laurence are one of the best wardens we have found on our travels. Nothing is too much trouble and because a little way from shops a very well stocked store with milk bread bacon eggs toiletries and sweeties. Everything you could want. Visited the ruins of Bolton abbey and also into skipton which is fabby as you can park in Morrisons car park free for 3 hours. Cannot recommend this site highly enough but just watch the restricted bridge by the entrance. It really is tight
First visit to a club site
This was our first visit to a club site after purchasing the caravan summer 2021 and 30 years of camping.
Beautiful site in a woodland setting 200 metres above the River Wharfe.
Spotlessly clean and newly decorated shower / toilet block with the best shower in 30 years of camping.
On arrival there appears to be a lot of rules, etc. But after just one night you realise the rules are there for a good reason ensuring a very peaceful and relaxing stay.
The site is a credit to the lady and gent running it.
We will return.
A really excellent site
We have just finished off a fortnights tour of the Lakes and Dales with five nights at the Bolton Abbey estate site. We tend to think a good rule of thumb as to what you can expect from a site is the initial welcome you receive from the wardens and in this respect we could not fault Yvonne and Laurence. We were greeted by name, advised of which pitch numbers were vacant and informed about everything the estate offered. The service block was always spotless and during our stay they seemed to work non-stop, nothing was too much trouble, and they always had time for a chat and to advise on places to visit, they are a real credit to the club. Wharfedale and the surrounding areas are a delight. The estate is so well kept and offers a variety of walks for all abilities and some paths have been specifically designed for wheelchair/motobility access. We crossed moorland and followed the river in both directions. A walk to the Abbey is must, as is a visit to the omni-present ice cream van in the grounds, delicious vanilla. There is a bus stop outside the site but buses are few and far between, check the timetable. As others have said the phone signal is pretty limited, but then it's not particularly good anywhere along the valley so it might be worth advising all your social media followers that you are going to rig for silent running for a few days. Site wi-fi is good enough to stream films though the best entertainment was definately hand feeding the ducks. Great stay.
Lovely site for walkers
We stayed here for a week in March and we’re lucky to have fantastic weather. The wardens and the site were excellent, the site was clean, tidy and quiet and the wardens helpful. We really enjoyed the walking from site - so much so that we didn’t move the van and just used the bus and our boots! Nice cafes in Bolton Abbey Village and the Red Lion at Burnsall was great.
A great site
What a beautiful site, wardens Laurence & Yvonne are helpful and friendly. They keep the site immaculate. So many walks from the site, so ideal if you don’t want to use your car or motor home. We did notice there is a bus stop just outside the site, not sure what days they run. We had booked for 5 nights but stayed for 8 as we found it very relaxing. We will definitely return to this site.
Beautiful site, perfect location
Our first visit to this site, we were more than pleased when we were greeted by the friendly wardens and shown which pitches were available. The site is kept spotless, including the shower / toilet facilities and we could not fault our stay. Previous comments about phone signals are irrelevant as far as we are concerned - there is a warning on the website so should not be a surprise and surely anyone staying in this vicinity is more interested in walking and taking in the relaxed feeling of the site.
The situation is wonderful with the whole of Bolton Abbey Estate within easy walking reach - and what beautiful walks - the riverside and priory ruins are delightful with even a cafe stop on the way!
As far as using the car, the whole area is wonderful, Grassington has amazing cake / ice cream / sweet treats everywhere as well as of course lovely pubs and restaurants. Skipton is lovely for a wander around, especially on market days and only a fifteen minute drive away.
We had a few perfect days here to recuperate from a busy time renovating our home and were sad to leave, we will definitely return.

Lovely last Minute Visit
Decided to have a short four night break away so didn’t want to travel too far, even though site only 30 miles from home we have never stopped here before, as we are lucky enough to be near enough to visit this area for a day trip out. Firstly if you are not keen on trees or too much shade maybe this site not for you. It really is a lovely site in a stunning location. The walks down to the river, around the estate, Abbey, etc are great, especially when the sun shines! Great wardens and the tidy site and spotless facilities are a credit to them. The site shops sells essentials although running down now with being end of season. Managed to get EE phone signal and 4G where we were pitched down on the cul de sac, lots say they have had no signal etc so maybe depends on network or pitch. The CAMC directions need to be followed also check in time at 1pm, not much waiting space. If you park on any of the car parks on the Estate you have to pay and it cost us £12.50 today, valid for the day on any car parks, think there are three on the Estate. Great walks direct from site though. Settle, Grassington and Skipton great places to have a look at. Pretty sure we will return soon.
Hidden Gem
First time staying at Bolton Abbey and intend to return. Such a peaceful site.
The site managers Laurence and Yvonne are a lovely, friendly couple. On arrival we were greeted by Yvonne by name, a first for us , a really nice personal touch.
The site itself is quite small and in parts shaded due to the trees, the sunny pitches are on the top level . The TV signal is very poor, thankfully we had an external cable with us, phone and internet signals are almost non existent too, however the site has a pay phone. The on- site facilities were kept spotless and there is a very well stocked shop. No play area for children however, possibly better suited for couples.
The River Wharfe is minutes from the site , so many walks can be done from here with no need to take the car.
We were booked to move on to another site but loved our stay so much that we cancelled and spent the entire holiday at Bolton Abbey.
Thankyou for making our stay such a pleasure Yvonne & Laurence
Peaceful site in excellent location
Beautifully peaceful site in an excellent location. Located by the Strid Wood Tea Room and Car Park, you can access the estate and woods directly from site. Lots to do and see in the area.
Loved the location for our children to visit Bolton Abbey, the Welly Walk and stepping stones, however the site was almost so peaceful I felt it was more suited to couples.
Fantastic welcome and support from the Wardens
Really helpful, kind and welcoming warden got our stay last week off to the best start. Beautiful setting, lovely pitch, perfect for enjoying the birds, squirrels and rabbits playing. Facilities clean and site well maintained. Cannot wait to return for another visit. Thank you.
