Amazing walking and beautiful scenery.

Lovely site. Would like to return in warmer weather. Very useful drying room for outdoor clothing after a soaking on the moors! I was surprised to read the "Disappointing" review below. The facilities were immaculate and considering the mud and wet outside, unbelievably so. And I am fussy!

First Timers!!

We recently purchased our first camper and having stayed at The Devonshire Arms we discovered this site on a walk, and made it our first outing. Having carefully negotiated the arch on the approach, we found the site. Booking in was quick and simple. The site was perfect for our first outing.  We set up on a very well located pitch (close to the toilet block). The facilities are as they say in the write up. The staff (think they were stand in due to holiday)  were very helpful and kind at all times. Each morning they cleared the leaves and tided the service points. The toilet block was excellent, it was warm and very clean which made showering a pleasure. The only downside was as our camper is new it only picks up digital tv, and the site is still analogue which is a little odd. Having said that lots of dvd's and reading which was a pleasant change. There are some beautiful walks and lots of places to discover on and around the stunning Yorkshire Dales. We stayed for five nights, which was a great introduction to this way of life. Overall a great first outing and the site was perfect. We will be certainly going back again soon. First timers

Beautiful Bolton Abbey

Excellent reception, the camp was neat, clean, tidy, quiet, beautifully positioned and well located. Who could ask for more.

Disappointing

As a recent recruit to CC this is our first review of a club site but we have used many other sites over the years. Bolton Abbey site was far from excellent. Arriving in extremely wet and windy weather and rather tired on 8th November we were not greeted with a welcome other than "you're blocking my entrance - you can't leave it there - lets get you paid up so you can move it". This process and conversation carried on but the above sample says most of what is needed! As to the cleanliness of the facilities, this left much to be desired. Although they were supposedly closed for 3/4 of an hour each day for each sex facility for cleaning they were not clean (one and a half hours daily). The Gents had 1 blocked and another dirty toilet for most of our 6 day stay. Leaves were not swept up for most of this time (inside of the building) and the spider with his web was still safely in situ above the urinals on the day we left on 13th October. Bins in the female facility were not emptied and tissues and leaves on the floor were not cleaned up on a daily basis. Generally there was a lack of cleanliness and facilities were unappealing and smelly in nature. It comes to something when it is more pleasant to use toilets for tourists in Strid Wood because they are cleaner and smell fresher. What a great pity when the location, countryside and surrounding villages and towns are perfect for dogs and walkers alike.

Quick Break

This was our first visit, during the horrendous wet weekend which saw flooding throughout the North. The site is nestled away just 2 minutes from the river. The nearest phone or internet connection is a mile down the road which is perfect when you are getting away from it all. Although the TV was analogue it was a better picture than digital. The site is not too far from both Skipton and Harrogate both lovely places to visit. We ventured to the river on the Sunday morning to find it well and truly over the banks however the paths are so well laid that walking along the banks was no problem. The site wardens are really helpful and friendly and the site is well kept. We will certainly be returning, hopefully with better weather.

wet weekend

Stayed 2 nights on weekend 13th Nov with the wife and our 2 girls.  Arrived quite late due to usual Friday night traffic chaos, but was met by a friendly lady warden who ran the site.  Great site with easy access into skipton and some good woodland walks on the doorstep. Absolutely no phone signal, although this is explained on the club website so we didn't expect one (just confirming that this is a fact) Zero TV signal which is again explained, however take a long coaxial lead and plug into the TV booster and there are lots of TV channels available if you tune your TV in analogue mode.  This turned out to be a better option than many other places we have stayed. Toilets and shower areas kept clean and warm. No play area for the kids but didnt spend too many daylight hours on site so did it not bother the kids.  Will definitely return to this site soon!!

Superb site in a beautiful location

We have just come back from  weekend at this site and I can honestly say it is in the most beautiful location I have been to. We were given a warm and friendly welcome by the wardens and could choose our pitch as the site wasn't busy. The shower and toilet facilities were kept clean and tidy. there are multiple waste and water points which were well kept even with all the autumn leaves. Pitches are a decent size and well spaced out. Due to the amber weather warning for heavy rain we didn't venture far from the site and will definitely be returning for a longer stay. You are surrounded by the Bolton Abbey estate and there are well sign posted walks for you to enjoy. We walked along to the Barden Bridge and down by The strid all on proper paths. At the entrance to the site is a lovely tea room which sells gifts etc.  This site is definitely worth a visit surrounded by beautiful Yorkshire countryside with lots of things to do.

Very Enjoyable Site

Thoroughly enjoyed my time on the site. Wardens were helpful and welcoming. Facilities were very good and kept immaculate. Autumn colours were awe inspiring, although the falling leaves, caused a lot of work for Mr Warden. I will definitely return.
