Peace and Quiet

One of our favourite sites for getting away for a short break to chill out. The facilities are good and the lack of a mobile signal can be an advantage. Lovely walks both up river and down river so no need to use the car at all once on site.

A well run site

The site is in a beautiful area of the Yorkshire Dales. The wardens are friendly and helpful. The main disadvantage is no mobile signal at all, which in an emergency is a worry. There was an unfortunate tragedy while we were there which was dealt with by the warden, but a mobile signal might have made a difference to the final outcome. Apart from that, it was well worth a visit.

Birds of Paradise

What a beautiful site! Peace and tranquillity. The site is divided into two "fields" which makes it feel much smaller than it actually is and gives it a more personal feel. No childrens play area but does it need it? there is Strid Wood adjoining the site with Bolton Priory just over 2 miles away with vast expanses of open grassland for kids to burn off their energy. We always take a bird feeder away with us and at this site we recorded 17 different bird species just on site! with a further 8 in the surrounding area. Great entertainment just outside our window and great entertainment for our neighbours too as many of them came and took pictures od the birds (and squirrels) antics. We love the Yorkshire dales and this site is high on our radar. We visited in July this year but looking forward to visiting at different times of the year to catch the changing seasons.

Lovely ... except for the music

This is a lovely site, but our visit was ruined by the people across the way playing music loudly enough that we could still hear it inside the camper van when we went inside to get away from it. No one came round and told them to turn it off so I guess they allow noise. We wanted to sit out and enjoy the sun, but with the dreadful racket they were playing there was no chance of that. OK it wasn't loud, but their choice in music was awful!

lovely and peacefull

stayed here begining of july. Its a lovely peacefull site, good dog walks just of site and a small one on site. lovely scenery and not far from skipton, grassington and patley bridge. didnt get chance to go on the walks around bolton abbey so we must return again. Be advised you need a 25 mtre ehu as ehu points are spread out. If you want to use your tv you will need a tv booster. There is no phone signals on site but there is a phone on site if you need to use one otherwise you need to go off site (about 2 miles before you can get a signal) loved it here but it is a very busy site especially at weekends. will definatley return.

A peaceful site

We stayed for 3 nights and had mixed weather but that didn't  stop us enjoying the beautiful walks . We have a dog and it is perfect for walking straight out of the site on to the wonderful strid. The site is very quiet and a small  one with a small toilet and shower block which is in need of and update but was very clean , there is no play area for children and I feel they would be bored if on site all day but if they enjoy walking and playing in the woods it would be ideal for them . Although there are no restaurants nearby within walking distance there is a cafe a 2 minute stroll from the caravan site . All in all a lovely little site and we will go back again.

Good site for walkers

A good clean site, not that close to Bolton Abbey, but good for walkers. OK for caravaners and camper-van owners but for larger motor homes roads are tight. The TV system needs upgrading if you find it a necessity, only analogue signals are available from site distribution not digital TV available in this location. No children's facilities. But a very peaceful and quiet site, some good wildlife watching and photography opportunities.

This was just a 2 night stay for us, quiet and peaceful site, wardens were helpful, but we were disappointed with the lack of places to eat, the nearest place was not a casual stroll but a car ride away, (or motorhome as the case may be). Beautiful countryside to explore if you are a walker, if you are not a very confident cyclist these roads are not for you, very narrow and at times motorists put their foot down. The site itself is very pretty and everyone just went about their business. Not sure if we would visit again.

A beautiful peaceful site with some lovely walks around and a bus stop conveniently placed just at the entrance to the site for visiting some quaint villages. The site is small with limited sunny places which are usually always taken.  We don't have children but I wasn't aware of a play area around for them to keep them occupied. We will revisit as not completed all the walks that's on offer.
