We stayed here 4 nights over Easter and despite the wet, windy and cold weather, we had a lovely time. The site is right next to the river and there are good paths on both sides going for miles in both directions. One direction takes you to Bolton Abbey and the other into beautiful countryside with stunning views. We must have covered 25 miles walking on these paths over the 4 days. The site is also well located for visiting Burnsall, Pateley Bridge, Grassington etc. The facilities on site were kept clean and tidy. Will definitely stay here again.
Lovely site
We re-visited this site for a short visit on 27 March shortly after it opened and again were not disappointed. The site was beautifully kept and the shower facilities etc. immaculate. the Wardens extremely kind and helpful. There was a slight glitch with the tv booster facilities which the Wardens worked hard to resolve as quickly as possible. Sad to hear one or two moaning about this, surely it's possible to live without tv for 24 hours!
Excellent walks which we and our border collies enjoyed. Skipton has a wide range of shops and facilities and Grassington is a pretty little village to visit. Brimham rocks (NT) also well worth a visit.
Re families as grandparents of young children maybe not the most suitable site for them - no playground but it would be shame to even think about adding one! There are plenty of available sites with these facilities. Also the fast-flowing river adjacent to the site is something to be aware of. But with older children plenty to see and do.
All in all a lovely relaxing break with plenty to suit all tastes. We will certainly return.

Peace and quiet at an amazing site
Thank you to Janet and Brian the wardens for keeping the site so clean and tidy and being so friendly and helpful
This really is a great site for walking and is very dog friendly, we enjoyed our stay immensely
Fantastic walks from the site and the surrounding area is so picturesque
Site is full of wildlife to view from caravan very enjoyable
Great for walkers
Blessed with some very nice sunny weather that helped make this short two night stay into a good one would have stayed longer but as we only book with a few days to go could not get more than a two night booking. Had to use the levelling ramps which is ok but not perfect as it can make the step a bit high. Walking from the site along the river to the abbey was fantastic with views of dippers, wagtails, goosander, greater spotted woodpecker, nuthatch plus the more normal birds made our walk special. A large scone at the café at the Abbey helped as well LOL.
Idyllic
A lovely site surrounded by fantastic countryside. The wardens are friendly and helpful; the site is clean and well maintained. There are plenty of walks from the site and the dog loved it. It is probably not the best of sites for families who are not keen on the great outdoors, or who are dependent on internet and mobiles for their main entertainment. A great place to get away from it all. We will certainly be returning in the future.
Peace and Quiet
A well kept quiet site, tucked into the Strip Wood. Site Staff very helpful and cheerful and hard working.
Slight change from the images as the site division hedges have been removed so the site is more open than described, but still quiet and peaceful.
Good walking areas along Strid Wood.
Mobile coverage is not great but that isn't the club's fault.
good area for walking
Good area for walking and getting some peace and quiet.Would not have gone to this site if we had kids with us as it was not there thing walking but now we are on our own excellent.Bit concerned about towing 7.5 m caravan through arch but taken slow and through centre no problem.did not even have to fold towing mirrors in,so when you read about arch don't let it put you off

First Time at Bolton Abbey - Amazing!
Wow!!!! The drive from Harrogate is stunning - The rolling hills and dry stone wall are a feast for the eyes.
The approach road is a little hairy - especially the narrow archway! But once you arrive it is heaven.
Wardens as ever were super helpful despite them only being there for 2 weeks themselves. We had an issue when I lowered the jockey wheel - I snapped the bolt that clamps the jockey wheel in place! Although I needed a bolt extractor - The warden offered a drill etc. We managed to get the caravan ono the pitch and lower the legs! Not ideal but better than driving home.
The local area is amazing. We walked to Burnsall which is about 5 miles away along the river. The scenery en route will tale your breath away. The Red Lion Pub there was well worth a visit!
This morning we walked to the Abbey - Again amazing scenery and the 'Strid' was a sight to see!
Campsite has all the facilities you expect - With every one friendly and chatty as ever - The coupe next to us were particularly nice.
Cant wait to go back!
Season Opening Day
We were the 3rd in line 20 mins after opening on St Patrick's Day, and the site was filling up fast. Stayed for a week and the only downside was the great British weather, I cannot fault this site, beautiful setting, fantastic for walking, great hosts and nothing was too much to help. See you again.
Shame about network reception but Wifi worked well.
Beautiful setting!
Superb site with good clean facilities and direct access to Bolton Abbey estate (saving car park cost of £10!).New wardens lovely. The only thing which could have improved our weekend was better weather and not leaving the gin at home! Still had a lovely walk to the cafe despite rain showers. So good we've already booked again for June.Highly recommended.19.3.17
