Pretty, peaceful site

Stayed for 4 nights mid June 2021. Location was easy to find and plenty of pull in room off main road. Check-in was simple and efficient. Site is tiered and there are plenty of pretty areas, planting and other interesting displays to give the site an 'individual' feel. Also loved the information boards/posts around the site sharing the history as a polish refugee camp. Wrist bands in place for the communal toilets/showers - still amazed at how people cannot fathom how to operate such a simple system. All pitches are good size, although most need levelling ramps to some degree unless you are right at the front of the site next to the main road. Road noise was not really a nuisance and the evenings/nights were very quiet. The dog walk is through the tree glade and acceptable, although it would have been nice to let the dog off lead but the signed said no. The Three Horseshoes Country Inn is a short walk outside of the site along the main road. You can also request the bus to stop right outside at the main gate to take you into Leek - be aware that they bus timetables are very sporadic and seem to do their own thing, regardless of the timetable. Despite a return ticket, the return bus was over 2 hours away from the timetabled slot, so we jumped in a taxi (Leek Line) which was £7. H. Meakin Butcher in Leek provided some delicious bacon and steaks - recommended! A walk to Tittesworth Reservoir is recommended - just turn down the road by the Inn and keep walking until you reach a footpath. About 1.5 miles but beautiful spot. We watched the canoes, kayaks and paddle boarders and then headed to the visitor centre for a spot of lunch. We look forward to a return visit for further exploring of the area.

Wonderful stay

Just spent a week at this spotless and very tidy caravan site from 7th June. Some lovely little touches around the site make it very welcoming. Pitches are well spaced and spread around in separate bays and rows allowing for plenty of privacy. Good band system for COVID regulations in shower/toilet blocks, although still some people forgetting to use masks while others are keen to make the effort. Wardens friendly and helpful. Excellent dog walking area and a handy little doggy shower! Mobile Pizza shed visits on Thursday and Saturday from 4pm and definitely worth ordering. Loads to do around the area, Tittesworth Reservoir a pleasant walk from caravan site and if you’re feeling up to it an extra 5 miles to get round it but plenty of other shorter colourful woodland walks to enjoy. Leek 3 miles away with plenty of shops and a fish and chip shop. Quarry Bank Mill, National Trust site near Wilmslow a 50 minute drive away but well worth a day out, beautiful gardens, riverside walk and Styal Village. Mam Tor, Buxton and Bakewell within 30 minutes. We would definitely return to this caravan site. To make it even nicer, we actually had sunshine for a whole week!

An excellent site with wonderful wardens

On our arrival on our first visit there was only one warden on site due to really challenging personal circumstances. Sal got us booked in with a really nice smile. Our second visit was with the assistant wardens and they were just as friendly and helpful. As a result we have booked a THIRD visit Thouroghly recommend this site

Lovely Stay at Blackshaw Moor

Lovely site on different levels. Wardens very nice and cheerful and engaged with our 3 year old giving her a treasure map and colouring in to do, which she was delighted with. Play area on top level but site not too loud in the evening, lovely and peaceful. A great base for families or couples alike to explore the peak district. Lots of things to do within 30 minutes to keep all ages happy. Fantastic stay so thanks so much CMH club and especially the wardens at Blackshaw Moor!

Nice park

Good site, very clean and hard working wardens.close to good walking and other attractions. During Covid times I still can’t see why some people can’t follow simple rules at the toilet and showers, not the sites fault but could lead to the facility closing

We’ll be coming back!

Wonderful, amazing, fantastic site! One of the best sites we’ve been on yet!!! Picturesque views all around. If you love nature you’d love it here with all the beautiful country birds and the owls tweeting at night time. The wardens are very very friendly and helpful. We will definitely coming back to this site again!

Ideal for motor homes if you like walking

Great location ideal for walking to and around Tittesworth reservoir it’s a 7.5km circular walk around with a visitor centre for food and drink, I walked to upper Holme before returning to the site via A53 which has a path alongside, it will take you all the way to leek from the site if you fancy the hilly walk, because of lockdown the local pub was only open Friday Saturday and Sunday, the buses were limited too so check before you go. The upper pitches are well away from the main road so much quieter, I will be back to at least check out out the pub (the 3 horseshoes) and hopefully catch a bus to the local towns.

Motorhome Freindly

First time staying at this site with our 6 metre Motorhome. Site was immaculate and all the staff were exceptionally friendly. We stayed for 10 days and had no problems getting out and about in our van, researched parking before departing site and had no problems, although bigger Units may have a little more difficulty in Leek & Buxton. Tittisworth Reservoir just a couple of minutes drive, lots of parking and loads of different walks and possible to walk into Leek.

Lovely site now getting the tlc it deserves

We are regular visitors to this lovely site, but had been saddened by the lack of care over the last couple of years. But the new site managers are making a real effort to turn things around. Little touches that make all the difference - like the table set with tea pot and cups that welcomes you! OK it’s not a quiet site, but the location near to the fabulous countryside with great walks, cycling and good local shopping makes up for the road noise in our opinion.
