Fantastic location- very peaceful. Loads of wildlife to see - deer and stags in next field and llamas too! Owls at night. Beautiful ponies a donkeys. Lovely walks into Brockenhurst. New Forest free walking app has clear directions for routes with marked paths. Great choice of pubs and cafes in Brockenhurst (about 40min walk across heathland or via woods or via roads.
Great for motorhomers who don’t want to drive anywhere.
Great for dogs. (ours was on lead due to excitement around ponies!)
Caught 10min train from Brockenhurst to Lymington and found route to nature reserve around sea walls after walking through quay area. Amazing seabirds. Dog friendly pub in Lymington.
Very clean site and spacious. Quite busy even in November!
Will definitely return.
Just great
Really terrific wardens. Had a couple of problems, dealt with in a professional, friendly and helpful manner, which makes all the difference.
This site is our favourite. Perfect location for walking and cycling. Plenty to do in the area, such as visiting the coast & getting the train to Winchester Xmas market. Site is in very good nick. We’ll be back.
Return visit
A site set in the heart of the forest ,but within walking distance of Brockenhurst , there are speed bumps on the access road but proposes no problems if driven at the correct speed , lots of walking and cycling to do in the area
A Top Out of Season Site
We like this site out of season when the grass pitches, neighbouring Aldridge Hill site and Ober Corner car park are out of use. We don't drive off-pitch and find there is plenty to do for at least 4 days (5 nights) with excellent local walking and cycling. Good footwear is required as it can be wet under foot. We enjoy walking into Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst for a coffee or the shops. We haven't used the public transport but there are busses and trains from Brockenhurst to Lymington which is a lovely town. It can also be reached by bike. There are rail links elsewhere. It is a wonderfully quiet site out of season with interesting wildlife and attractive woodland. For those who arrive early there are excellent local car parks to wait, including Beechern Wood carpark which is on the way in.
Top Forest site
Stayed here for the October half term break and had a brilliant stay. Managed to see Highland cattle, Horses, Donkeys, Pigs and also saw the Deer rut one of the evenings. Great site with great facilities and brilliant staff.
Don’t be put off by the vehicle width signs when you turn of the main road, it’s not a problem as the road is easily wide enough for caravans and motorhomes.
Well worth a visit.

Fantastic Site - our favourite
I can't rate this site highly enough; we have stayed several times. The access road is long and on a forest road, but we did not have a problem entering or leaving with our caravan, towed by a campervan. The site a located right in the forest with fabulous cycling and walking. There is an easy half hour walk across the common into Brockenhurst. The site is busy as it is so popular, but pitches are well spaced, and we have never had to wait to use the showers. The wardens are really friendly and were so helpful when we had a problem with our caravan jockey wheel. We have already booked again for spring 2023 and are very happy to recommend Black Knowl.
Difficult narrow roads with low trees and dangerous verges, did not want to risk damage - Cancelled
Difficult narrow roads with low trees and dangerous verges for passing, We did not want to risk damage to our vehicles -
Went to have a look before moving sites .. Cancelled a week before and lost £65 !
Fantastic Site
You couldn't ask for a better location. Lovely site. Wardens are fantastic, very helpful and friendly. Ready to go back and we've only just left!
A fabulous site
This was our first visit to Black Knowl and it exceeded our expectations. The site is well maintained and the facilities block is spotlessly clean. The site staff are friendly and helpful regarding local information and walks as well as providing plenty of leaflets in the information room. There is also a small shop at reception and a variety of maps of the area (we recommend the cycle map which shows the numbers of the marker posts). We've already booked to return next year as there is so much walking from the site.

Fabulous!
We have just spent our first holiday at this amazing site. The staff are friendly, the shower blocks spotless, the location faultless. We have already booked for next year! It is particularly good for people who enjoy walking and cycling and is ideal for those with dogs.
