First trip in the motorhome since lockdown lifted

We were keen to get away as soon as lock down started to be lifted. We booked Black Knowll well in advance. The instructions given to us ahead of arrival were very precise and reassuring - great thanks to Helen. When we arrived we were met by the warden, who gave us extra information and urged us to read it, which again showed how well thought out their approach was considering social distancing, cleanliness and limiting risk. The majority of the guests followed the rules, but sad to see still a few elderly people that obviously didn't read the information or don't think it applies to them - they still insisted on taking short cuts to the shower block, walking across other people's pitches which we'd politely been asked not to do :( We love Black Knowll, I think nearly everyone there this time had their dog, we enjoyed walking & exploring and visited the Forest Park Hotel for the first time, which again, have set in great revised plans to ensure all their guests are safe. Can't wait to go back.

A lovely site with a very friendly and helpful warden

A lovely site in a great location. Excellent facilities too. There had been quite a lot of rain prior to our visit and we got caught out whilst trying to turn our campervan around on a grassed area that was much wetter than we thought. We got stuck! Fortunately the friendly warden was on hand to help out and got us moving again along with some help from a fellow camper too.

Great site, welcoming and fantastic facilities

We stayed over Christmas in our campervan. Great facilities onsite, with welcoming friendly wardens. You can cycle, walk or run straight out onto the forest so great when camping with dogs. We will stay again.

Wonderful Site for Dogs

We had a lovely break here, and even though it was a rainy weekend we enjoyed some great walks with our dog. Our pitch was good and the site was very peaceful This was our second visit and will not be our last

Simply Superb

Access to this site is not difficult at all, just ensure you follow club directions on your approach through Brockenhurst. Wardens at time of visit very friendly and helpful. Site is well laid out, and despite what others say felt spacious. The hardstanding pitches were generous in size, well maintained and for the most part level. The facilities block is new, was always spotlessly clean and there was always plentiful hot water. The site offers walking direct into the New Forest, and varied walks are available. We got a strong signal for TV through our Status and good reception on EE for web browsing. Tesco express in Brockenhurst for shopping, but all the other suspects available a bit further afield.

Fabulous Site

When we stayed on this site it was fairly quiet (unlike other reviewer's experiences) but this was out of school holidays and out of the main season (first week in October). The site itself is well laid out (as with most other CMC sites) and the facilities are, or appeared to be, brand new. Spotless and warm with good water pressure and loads of hot water! The wardens (and apologies because I forgot to note their names) were fabulous. They rang us en-route because we were delayed due to a serious road accident on the M3 and provided us with their mobile number so we weren't left in the late arrivals area overnight. Also very helpful with local info and, as we were attending a wedding very local to the site and were leaving the van unattended for one night, made sure it was secure for us. They were also able to provide a reasonably priced hose extension when ours wouldn't reach the tap. Just be aware of the very high, steep, and generally awkward road humps on the approach roads which despite crawling over still grounded our jockey wheel (I know this isn't the clubs fault as they are managed by the New Forest administration but they are too high) We will be back!!

Lovely Site

We stayed here for 3 nights in September. It is a lovely site in the New Forest, lots of cycle routes from outside the site. The fish and chip van on a Wednesday is a bonus and they were very tasty. Facilities very clean, lovely big showers. Although the site was full, we found it to be very peaceful.

Very Expensive, lovely location.

Black Knowl is a well kept site in a lovely location but it is far too expensive ( as other members have commented.) Great area for cycling and walking and for a day trip to the Isle of Wight. Lymington is worth a visit and so is the coastal path from the town. There are some rare birds that nest on the coast. The wardens are welcoming and very helpful, the flowers outside reception are stunning. The site is clean and tidy and the facilities are clean. Good luck to the all the wardens as they move on next year, you will be missed! We will return but C&M please make it less expensive so all members can enjoy the beautiful New Forest.

Full Site so very crowded

We were earlier than usual visiting Black Knowl this year, as the site was full it was very crowded. The site is completely open with no hedging around any pitches therefore seems overcrowded, a bit like a car park. Not school holidays but the oldies (that's us too) were out making the most of the children being back at school therefore a very crowded full site. There were a number of grass pitches that had to be closed due to the bad weather, I think it rained the whole week we were there. The wardens were very friendly and kept the new toilet block spotless. There are now more hardstanding available, but we need more seeing the state of the grass. Also the hardstandings need weeding, possibly just spraying with weedkiller would help. The approach road is very narrow with vicious speed humps for those towing, care is needed. The village of Brockenhurst can provide all that's needed during your stay. Small Tesco and Sainsbury's although we heard the latter is closing down. The cake shop is fantastic but you need to be there early, before 11.00, for a bacon & brie baguette which would have been great for lunch, if only! Lots of walks from the site, but need wellies, ponies, horses, donkeys and even cows this year just outside the gate. Plenty of days out too just check out the information office. Will be back again next year.
