Forest Hideaway

Stayed here for our third visit and yet again were amazed at how lovely this site and in particular this area is. As always the staff are friendly, helpful and knowledgeable despite the lack of patience from some members when booking in. We must give a mention and special thanks to Morris who managed to save our holiday by retrieving one of my wife's wedding earrings that fell into the shower soak away. If you didn't know it you are a super hero according to her. Black Knowl is a super site, borne out by how busy it always is yet is still turned out and run immaculately. Despite Covid-19 trying to spoil our outings CAMC have adapted and provide a safe environment in which we can still enjoy and relax on holiday. The pitches are well maintained and are not on top of one another, it's clean, tidy and the toilet facilities more that adequate given that they have to be restricted. Walk a stones throw from the site and you're in the heart of the New Forrest with all it has to offer and nearby are the towns of Brockenhurst and Lyndhurst both reachable on walks through the Forrest the second being a little longer. All in all a perfect site in a perfect location run by a fabulous team. Thank you T & G

Welcome Break

Bit late writing this review as we had a week there from 16/09 in glorious weather. We absolutely love this site, wardens doing a brilliant job on cleanliness and tidying site. The site is in an excellent location for walking, cycling, touring locally or just lazing about. I did hear a few grumbles about not having enough showers open but you can’t please all the people all the time. I felt sorry for the staff on on the last day we where there when they had a leak in the roof of the shower block but these things happen and no need to stress. We had a great week so Thankyou site team.

Excellent site

We have been coming to this site twice a year staying for 3 weeks a time it is our most favourite site, excellent wardens since 2002. We normally book the last 2 weeks in June and the first week in July, due to the COVID19 we booked from the 5th July for 2 weeks, for us this time of year it was a bit too busy, however, we have just returned from our September Black Knowl which was much quieter

A little gem of a site

We have just had a lovely quiet relaxing week at Black Knowl. It is situated right in the forest with walks immediately outside of the site. Horses and cattle roaming right up to the site entrance. The facilities were spotless and the Covid restrictions worked really well, never had to wait to use the toilet block. Check in was smooth and well managed. We never really had much interaction with the wardens after arriving but they always seemed cheerful when around the site. The only slight moan is people do tend to cut across the grass pitches which can be a bit annoying. That said we would definitely recommend this site and look forward to returning.

Very crowded!

Stayed for a long w/end just after schools had returned and, unsurprisingly, the site was virtually full. It was our first visit to Black Knowl and we felt safe with good Covid measures in place, and the site was clean and tidy. Wardens were busy and visible and clearly worked hard to maintain the site. However, it is not a big site and when full it felt extremely crowded which, of course, meant that noise from neighboring pitches was hard to ignore (particularly if they played music inside their awnings!). There was no privacy, say from hedge planting or trees, to break up the car park feel and that was not to our liking. Without a privacy room or windbreak we felt rather 'on show' anytime we stepped outside.

Very disappointed

Booked pitch late after cancellation asked for hard standing and told there was one. Arrived mid afternoon Friday booked in and was explained where to pitch on hard standing pitch. Drove around site to find all hard standing had been taken. Went back to office where I was then told for the first time it is on a first come basis. As my wife is not in the best of health we needEd hard standing to avoid damp and had we been told this when booking we would not have booked. This being our first time to this site will not be looking to book again. Having just driving from Surrey after my wife had come out of hospital in the morning we then had to drive home again. Site did refund site fees but it has cost us fuel just to tow our caravan for over 4 hours for nothing

One of the best

We have just spent the bank holiday weekend here, only the second trip out since restrictions have been lifted and our very first club site so still very apprehensive. We really didn't need to be, excellent organisation and precautions with regards to the covid situation. Although we didn't use them, the facilities were kept spotless with regular cleaning and the amount of people using them was limited at all times. The wardens deserve a really big thank you, all were so friendly and ready to help at any time. Happy to pass the time of day even though they are always on the go! The site is right in the New Forest, ponies just at the entrance and lovely walks and cycle paths. Only a mile walk through the forest to a really nice local pub. Really felt relaxed on a stunning site in a beautiful location not that far from home. Just wished we had booked longer! Have already booked for next year, can't wait!

Great set of wardens and support staff

Had a great 17 days on site and experienced all weathers....however lots to do come rain or shine. The wardens and back up staff were exceptional and went out of their way to assist the customer. Last time we visited the experience was not quite the same. The site is great for the children keeping them outdoors most of the time away from the media devices. If there is one small issue, parents should monitor their children as playing around other persons outfits is really a no no in this climate. Irrespective; have booked again for next year hoping the same CC crew is in situ.

Great Location

First time at Black Knowl and we loved it for the location. Lots of walks and cycle routes around the New Forest are available directly from the site and you can walk over the fields into Brockenhurst. The site was very clean. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
