we think it is a very good site, people were very friendly when I called from a nother site if the have a pich for us just one night. Good site, toilets were clean. Perfect if you are going by ferry or train.
Good Site with good Staff
I have stayed here for the convenience it offers for the Tunnel,However,I would be happy so stay longer if my itinary allowed, large site with good sized pitches and staffed by friendly no nonsense people that probably operate one of the busiest sites on the network.

Overnight for Dover Ferry
Ideal stop for the ferry, easy to book by phone and straight forward booking in on arrival. Staff were quietly efficient and friendly. Didn't use any on site facilities but the pub down the road was able to supply a meal and a pint.
An important site but!
I have stopped at Black Horse Farm many times over the last 20 or more years. I have seen it get more and more busy as it's such a convenient location for the cross channel ferries and the Channel Tunnel. I think the staff must have a busy job given the number of arrivals and departures especially during the Summer months.
I have often considered how it operates compared to sites abroad . I value it highly but I would like to see it operating more flexibly. For example why not free up the wardens by employing cleaners. Don't close the facilities when people are leaving site. I would be willing to pay more for a more flexible service here. Keep the site open longer in the Summer months. I thought this year's requirement of having to ring the site from France to obtain a barrier code created work for the wardens and assumed I was able to ring from France on the day of my return. I was called when driving even though my daughter had confirmed I would ring. The pitch allocated was not ideal for a twin axle but that's another matter which is not connected to my desire to have this site available . I understand the security issue when people arrive late but I am not convinced the current solution is working well. I wondered if a new barrier system could be looked into. Technology exists (I have seen it on German sites) which allows campers to have their own codes . I think my comment about Summer hours applies across the site network. The club has become less accessible especially for families caravaning on weekends since the Working Time Regulations were introduced. Why can't we have longer opening hours as in all Eurpoean countries?

First time caravaners
As first time caravaners we could not have asked for a more friendly welcome than we received at Blackhorse Farm. The help and advice we were given by the team at Blackhorse Farm was excellent. The site itself is immaculatly maintained with clipped hedges and neatly mowed lawns. Our two children (aged 10 and 7) were made to feel equally welcome.
The main purpose of our visit was to get to grips with our new (to us) caravan. Having only purchased it a few days before hand. Again the staff provided expert help and advice which helped make our stay far more comfortable and relaxed.
Having upgraded from a tent to a caravan, we are used to campsites and it is my personal opinion that Blackhorse Farm is one of the tidiest and well looked after sites we have visited and will definitely be returning.
A good base for visiting the South coast.
Fairly easy to get to. Efficient welcome. Would have preferred a choice of grass pitch. Overall ,very good. Obviously, huge turn over due to vicinity of ferry crossing.
Well organised site
I've used this site for many years and seen some changes but now people are commenting on the late arrival been changed but to be fair they have had unwanted visitors so our safety is their main concern and to be fair to the previous comments it does explain in the "important notes" on the web that all people expecting to arrive after eight should contact the site and I was told to update my contact numbers so they could get hold of me which I did and it's always been the case in the book that if in the UK eight pm is the latest you can arrive and if you are coming into the UK please note your barrier card is no longer left so unless you contact the site or they are able to contact you while your abroad to give you the code there's not much they can do. These wardens do. A great job on the busiest site I know to,with 80/100 arrivals every day . Well done you all. Very well run site and clean and well kept thank you

Could have been a disaster !
We stay at this site every year for a one stop over from a return trip to France. The site is beautiful, spotlessly clean and has lovely hot free running water in the showers. However! When we arrived this year we went to find our usual named envelope with the pitch number and barrier code pinned in the after hours cabinet only to find no envelope. Starting to feel worried that I had booked the wrong date I checked my confirmation email from the club and all seamed ok. As we sat trying to find an out of hours telephone number the warden appeared and said they had been trying to contact us for ages via phone and email to tell us they no longer leave details in the envelopes as they have had some un welcome visitors, who got hold of the barrier codes and let themselves in, so they now inform you of the barrier code prior to your arrival. When we eventually arrived home the following day we found 1 message on our answer machine that had been left a week before (no emails). The previous year the ferry had been delayed and we didn't arrive at the site until gone midnight, if this had happened on this occasion we would have had no where to stay as I'm sure the wardens would not have stayed up waiting for us. I would have thought it was obvious that having booked an overnight ferry pitch that we would not be at home the week before to take a telephone call from them, and as the club have all our details we could have easily been contacted while we were away either via emails or on our mobiles. I book club sites as it takes any uncertainties about bookings, we could have ended up with a very long late night journey ahead of us. Very disappointed at the lack of communication. :(
Disappointing stay
Site office busy on arrival on 7th Aug for overnight stay. Went to look at map on wall over a table spread with papers. Was rudely pushed aside by warden who told us papers were private. Explained I was only looking at map. No apology for rudeness! On return journey 28th August we had had a problem with a front tyre which meant a wheel change. My husband asked warden where he could find a garage with air to check pressure. He replied " It's on your paperwork" and turned away. By 9 o'clock all pitches around us were empty, so why was the only arrival at 10.45 sent to our pitch before we were ready to leave? Worst CC club experience ever!
