1st visit to Berwick - you will not be disappointed

First time visitor to Berwick and we hade a great 4 nights stay here. site is located on a hill overlooking the sea with lovely views, site was rather compact but had a great pitch one down from the railway wall, which you hardly notice as the trains are super quiet. Excellent wardens who kept facilities spotless and were very helpful about the local area. Everything locally is in walking distance from the site. Take a walk into Spittal and discover the local bakery where we stopped off daily for their goodies before heading off for walks and shopping. Nice promenade in Spittal and a short walk back over the low bridge into Berwick. Ramparts are not to be missed and we found a lovely coffee shop in the visitors centre run by some nice ladies who served nice latte and cakes at really good prices. We also walked to the castle along the river and up to the gardens near the train centre, bit of a steep hill but manageable. Nice array of smaller shops and if you need to a quick train journey into Eninburgh. Supermarkets are in close proximity to the site about 10 minute walk and we had lunch in M&S a few times, a longer walk past the railway station will take you to Morrisons and you can catch the bus back into town near the site. We will return and spend a bit more time on the coastal paths next time.

Magnificent Berwick on Tweed.... The Fortress Town

Just returned from two days at this..... our favorite North East site . The unusual layout and stepped layout give many pitches a great view out over the Tweed Estuary and although some mention the East Coast main line... its quiet from 11pm ish to about 6 30 am . Trains are at low speed coming into or leaving Berwick so no bother really . The site and wardens are top class and with 100 pitches and a difficult entrance they do a great job to look after members, Nice little pub called The Albion just 200 yards away which welcomes caravaners and a great walk along the beach towards Spittal and the sea front leading onto lovely cliff walks heading south , Main reason we just love Berwick site is walking round the ( very underrated !! ) magnificent Fortress Town of Berwick. An easy 20 minute walk from site. Down to The Albion then along the river past the RNLI to the Old Bridge. Then cross the Bridge which leads on the right to the River side walk and takes you past gun placements history boards and the LS Lowry trail .Further round you get a fantastic view of the Garrison and ramparts which, in credit to Berwick Council is just preserved and free to walk round . You can feel the history in the air. The walk comes round to the High Street in town where you can shop plus pubs regular market and places to eat . Only down side is the number of closed shops in main area. Shame really when this lovely little place and should be a thriving tourist magnet ( maybe too many supermarkets built nearby) I really dont understand why Berwick upon Tweed is not a World Heritage Site ?? . We suggest you dont miss coming here to see what is clearly one of Northumberlands "jewels in the crown" . Great Camp site, great walks, history on tap ,peaceful at night . Fantastic wardens . Only problem is its difficult to find a pitch so book early !!

2nd visit and just as good as the first!!

We first stayed at seaview last year as the COVID precautions were starting to be out in place so we’re keen to see how our experiences would differ this time. On arrival (just before 1) we were welcomed on site, with masks still required at reception and an easy COVID friendly checkin completed along with some suggestions for pitches that would suit our larger outfit. Stunning views from the upper pitches, and very easy defined with the hard-standing. Good walks into Berwick, with lots of choices for eating and drinking. We also used an excellent local doggy daycare facility to allow us to visit Alnwick Castle and gardens this time as they do not allow animals and the weather was too warm to consider leaving our dog in the car. Facilities were spotless and wardens helpful and friendly.

Don’t be put off about trains

We were a bit concerned about reviews mentioning trains! It is next to main line but we didn’t hear anything at night and during day it was just a whoosh! Not that we were in much, lovely site with fantastic views over estuary and towards bridges.beautiful beaches minutes away, and easy walk into Berwick, loved the Lowry trail, and the walk around the walls. Lovely clean amenities and lovely wardens. Would definitely return

Fantastic Site and Staff

It was our first time visiting this site and it wont be the last. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. The site was extremely well looked after and the toilet blocks etc very clean. Berwick itself is certainly a place to explore and the beach isnt far away. Lovely views from most pitches. Yes there is a trainline behind the big stone wall at the back of the site but you get used to them and we didnt hear them through the night.

Wonderful site

Have been twice this year lovely site with great sea view. The wardens this season have been the best and the most friendly that have been at Berwick. A special mention to Edgar who went out of his way to chat to everyone and ensure everyone was happy. Thanks to the whole team

Not sure!

This was the 4th site out of 6 on our trip this August. It was the furthest north we travelled until we turned to head back to Derbyshire and was the site we were most looking forward to. Unfortunately we were a little disappointed. To give a balanced view....the pro's......great location with nice views. Easy walk to the beach and village. As dog owners this was great as was the playing field next to the site entrance. Short drive to supermarkets easy with our motorhome. Female warden was super and we had a lovely welcome. Con's for us.....our van is 7.34m long and we were directed to pitches that may be suitable....we couldn't fit on all pitches comfortably. When you check in you are advised on how you can pitch to make the most of the views depending on your outfit. This was a major drawback for us....we parked in the traditional way reversing in which was fine. However the caravan next door did the opposite and so our habitation doors opened directly opposite. Now this would be fine with more spaced out pitches but there was very little space in between, so by the time their awning was out we couldn't have wound ours out without almost touching theirs. The pitches feel crammed in as the site is narrow. I think this pitching to account for the view is fine if there was ample room but there isn't. I do think this needs looking at as we felt hemmed in....They used our little patch of grass and our van wheels) to allow their dog it's comfort break. Whilst obviously this isn't the sites fault it gives an indication of how little room there was. Also be aware that trains run very close to the top end of the site...with freight at night. We were ready to move after 3 nights....a shame!

Great location

Being a motorhomer if we’re stopping a few nights it’s nice to stop on a site that’s in walking distance to place’s. This site fits the bill perfectly twenty minutes walk to Berwick thats a great historic town and ten minutes walk to Spittle beach and it’s promenade. Some people complain about the main train line going past the back of the site but I don’t find it a problem because these trains are electric and don’t make a lot of noise. It’s just a shame it’s not open all year.

It's a lovely place to visit

The site is small but very well located. Only a 10 minute walk from Berwick, shops even closer. The site itself is lovely with a marvellous view over the bay. The pitches are well separated and most of them are reasonably level. There's lots to do if you like walking or cycling (a cycle to Lindisfarne is a must) and lots to see in Berwick itself. Highly recommended.
