Fantastic Site

What a lovely site. Great welcome and fantastic views over looking the bay and town of Berwick. The site is very, very clean with the toilet block in my opinion being 5 Stars and wifi being very good, but at a charge. The site is central to the historic Berwick upon Tweed. Also very close to Holy Island and Bamburgh Castle along the coast and 30 minutes on the train from Berwick to Edinburgh , so made our week very entertaining. To say the least. We have re-booked to stay there again in July.

Wow! What a view!

We stayed here on the opening weekend of this season. The welcome from the wardens was very warm and welcoming and there were plenty of spaces to choose from. We chose a pitch at the front overlooking the view over to Berwick and the sea. All the facilities were excellent - clean and warm. I'm not sure that this is the best site for children - no playing area BUT there is the beach only 5-10 minutes' walk away. The mainline trains run regularly past the back of the site but they really aren't loud at all and we whad forgotten about them by the second day. We walked 10 minutes along towards Berwick to have a cooked breakfast at the Riverside cafe and then another 10 minutes over one of the bridges to Berwick itself. A lovely site that we plan to revisit often.

A lovely site with stunning views

Wow what a lovely site ! situated 20 minutes walk from the town it'self in an elevated position with cracking views over the estuary and out to sea, the site has immaculate toilet & shower facilities and friendly wardens, its only a 10 minute walk and your on the golden sands of Spittal beach with a pub en-route ! the main east coast railway line runs adjacent to the site but there was very little noise, I enjoyed watching the trains. Will definitely use this site again !

Excellent winter seasonal

We have been on site from September to January, on a seasonal pitch and it's been amazing. The views of the sea and ever changing beach are stunning. It's a short walk to the beach and Spittal promenade. Berwick town has an old fashioned feeling, the old town walls and fortifications are well worth a visit. We will be returning. The wardens Steven & Mark are fantastic, very friendly and they put on a brilliant New Year's Eve get together, wish all wardens were up to their standards.

If arriving on a Sunday

If you arrive on a Sunday as we did without provisions, be aware all the super markets close at 4pm. Brilliant site and location.

Excellent Winter visit to historical town

This is an excellent site close to a truly historical town. The site views are stunning and you can walk into town in 20 minutes along the river paved path. The town has plenty to see with a vivid history. We walked along the town walls which had wonderful views out to sea and into the town overlooking the church and garrison. An easy walk then into town for coffee. The town has a number of restaurants and pubs to choose from and a taxi back was £5 nice if its cold!  The site is well gritted if required and the facilities are excellent and warm. The plots are large and the train noise is actually minimal. You can choose a plot away form the noise but watch then your wifi reception. We heard no trains after 10 30 am and before 630am and were at the back of the site closer to the line.  There is a walk along the seafront in Spittal which is really lovely and close to the site and some pubs nearer the site down the hill. The wardens were very helpful and we will be back again but we were told by locals it's very busy in summer as you might expect however out of season it's and excellent visit.

Only negative is the railway

We had a lovely relaxing stay the only problem was the railway.  Being woken in between 5.45 and 6.00 by the trains was not enjoyable.  The site is lovely the wardens are professional, helpful and very pleasant couldn't have been nicer unless the trains disappeared.

Pleasant stay as always

Been to this site many times and have never been dissapointed. Friendly helpful wardens, facilities good and clean as you would expect on a CC site. There is plenty of things to do from the site, we like to walk/cycle down to the Spittal or across to the breakwater and lighthouse. Lindisfarne is always a must visit even when its cold. Seahouses is another pleasant drive out, good fish and chips there too. The site is in need of some of the bushes and trees getting a trim, some of the pitches now no longer have a view of the bay, one of the main reasons why we like this site even in bad weather we can sit and watch the sea. So please CC lets have the site tidied up so it looks like the photos further up this page.
