Our Favourite Site

We always love staying here. The view is to die for and the location is great for us. There are trains but they don't bother us. The site is compact but we are just so pleased that it is here. We have met many lovely caravanners during our trips here and never tire of it. There are no play areas and for us that is a big plus. Berwick is a very real town full of friendly people. Spital beach is very close and great for dog walking. The pier is close by (25 min walk) and the Town walls are really worth walking. All in all this is a great location. The Wardens go by the book and after all isn't that why we are all members of the club.

Liked by many but not for us

We recently stayed here for 7 nights. The facilities on the site were generally good and on par with most other sites. However we personally found the compact nature of this busy site and the rather drab nature of Spittal, the estuary and the outskirts of Berwick had a negative impact on our enjoyment of the holiday. It was also not helped by the railway noise, whilst not excessive you were constantly aware that sleep was only really possible between 11:00pm and around 6:30am when the trains stopped running (we were right next to the line at the top of the site). We personally would not use this site again but I accept it has a lot going for it and is liked by many others.

Thank you

We have returned from a six night stay at this site. Arrived after 6pm on a date when the site was full so really appreciated the wardens making sure there was a suitable sized pitch for our caravan, which is almost 8m long. We had lovely views from our pitch and found the trains did not bother us at all. The service points were the cleanest I have seen at a club site, and plenty of them. Found plenty to do in the area and will definitely be returning. It is a good stopover on the way north but don't make the mistake of only staying one night. For those who don't want to do too much cooking or eating out there is an M&S foodhall close to the sight, closer than Asda. Didn't mind the arrival and departure 'rules' as have found a lot of sites have them and look on it like checking in and out of a hotel. Thank you wardens for creating an atmosphere which helped make our holiday so good.

Just returned from 7 night stay. Staff very nice and site is in a perfect peaceful location. The site is a bit more crowded and tight than other sites we have stayed, I would also say that the site isn't as well kept as other caravan club sites, there is an area at the back wall that isn't cut, the bushes in front of us were badly needing trimmed and restricted our view. This said, it would not stop us from returning. The biggest complaint we have is the 1pm arrival, we have never heard of this on other sites and we felt it caused so much obstruction as there isn't enough room for more than one vehicle at entrance to the site. You have to leave the sight before 12 if you are already pitched and can't enter until after 1pm. I don't think this is an ideal way to run the site at peak season and not very fair on members already pitched when you have to watch what time you can go out and come back in the day! Makes no sense to close from 11am until 1pm. We Will return as we do like the location and staff.

NOT IDEAL FOR LARGE MOTORHOMES

We were so lucky to get a front row pitch this week with amazing views over the sea, and Harbour. Our Motorhome is 7.4m and just about squeezed onto the pitch without overhanging the access road at the rear. Any larger than this we think would cause a problem. The emptying points were a little awkward to get at, as the only accessible one for us was towards a dead end, with no room to turn around, so we had to back down. This was no problem however, but it did cause a bit of congestion at times. The site itself is very narrow and in parts, a little crowded. The toilet blocks and wardens are up to the usual high standard, the access road to the reception area only has room for one vehicle at a time. The arrival time is 1.00 pm but as ever, you get the early arrivals who are let onto the site well before that time, sometimes causing congestion through this small gateway. It is a site perfect for caravanners who have use of their cars, as there is so much to see and do in the area, so close to the Northumberlsnd coast. Not so easy for motorhomers however. There is a bus stop outside the site which takes you into Berwick, where you can get buses further afield. Berwick is walkable - about twenty minutes. The site is perfect for a one night stopover on the way further North, but any Motorhome over 7.5m would struggle to fit on a pitch.

Wonderful site

Have just returned from 8 nights on this site and would like to say what a wonderful site it was. Our first stay here but as always the facilities were excellent. Despite not being fortunate to have a sea view we found the site very quiet throughout the day. Yes, there are frequent trains but the noise is no where near as bad as many previous reviews state. The site is very well placed for Berwick and all its history and with the beach so close excellent for dogs. If there was one point to improve on its the entrance as being so narrow access at certain times can be difficult especially at change over time at 1 pm. If only members would adhere to the time it would solve this problem, as on several days they were arriving closer to 12 noon. Loved our stay and hope to return soon.

Berwick Seaview a well kept secret

Having read reviews about the site I was pleasantly surprised by it !! All those moaning Minnie's about the train noise need to think again , no real disturbance caused by the trains and we were pitched close to the line adjacent to the top tier wall, the site was quiet , very friendly , lovely clean toilet blocks , superb seaviews from 90 per cent of the site , 5 mins from a quiet safe beach Which was great for our Golden Retrievers who loved it , although no dog walk on site there are plenty of places to run them bordering the site. Staff very helpful and unobtrusive, Berwick is a lovely tranquil place and its inhabitants warm and friendly , the site is very easy to find being 5 minutes from A1. If you want a quiet break in the borders you have to visit the site which is not far from Bamborough , Holy Island In closing once visited you will want to return

Pleasantly surprised

Having read some of the reviews which commented adversely on the facilities and train noise, I was very pleasantly surprised. The trains which are frequent during the day are relatively quiet and we're no problem, possibly because our attention was attracted by the wonderful view over the sea and Tweed estuary. The toilet facilities are as you would expect from a Club site and although the number of showers etc. are not great, I never had to wait for access, and cleanliness was excellent. It is worth heeding the advice posted on site about access in and out of the site between noon and 1.00 pm as despite earliest arrival time for new units being set at 1.00.pm, a queue is often formed from noon and can block the entrance. If visiting the area again I would be very happy to stay at Seaview.

Differing views

There seem to be many on the subject of the train noise. I can only think this is down to a personal level of noise pollution tolerance. We have stayed on this site a number of times, most recently 15th to 20th May, and as usual although we were well aware of the train noise we did not find it intrusive. The plus points of the fabulous views from the site, the easy walk into Berwick (or by using bus stop at site entrance) and access to dog friendly beach far outweigh this debatable downside. The ratio of showers to pitches seem fairly typical/adequate for a club site and were kept spotlessly clean. I would just say do not let poor reviews based primarily on train noise put you off but maybe try a couple of nights to decide for yourself and you may end up 'regulars' as we are.
