Normanhurst occupies the site of a garden to a long demolished country house and you can tell from the lovely shrubs and trees that surround and divide the site. Very peaceful with a couple of pubs within walking distance and Battle itself about 4 miles distant. We loved our time here.
Pretty area
Pretty site in an attractive area. We ended up with a huge pitch to ourselves as adjacent pitches were unoccupied as one was seasonal and the other an emergency pitch.
We arrived in the rain and one of the wardens was extremely helpful when we were trying to find a vacant pitch. He even helped my husband with his reversing, not his strong point.
Battle is a pretty town with some nice independent shops.
The site is in the Normanhurst estate, which although very nice, does not allow dogs off the lead. That’s the only downside with this site. There is no dedicated dog area where they can have a run around.
Nice walk along a country lane to Catsfield village which has a shop/post office and a pub.
The Squirrel pub is one mile away and does excellent food. The battered courgette flowers were fab.
We had a very pleasant stay and would not hesitate to book again if were in the area.
Normanhurst in Summer 2020. The Sussex Two.
This was our first venture out since lockdown eased. Having stayed at this site numerous times, we were slightly uncertain as to what changes we might see or notice. We were both pleasantly surprised by how little impact there was by the implemented safety measures now in place. The reception required face masks and distancing but is not overwhelming in any way. There was a great choice of pitch as we arrived on a Sunday. We set ourselves up on the pitch and stayed nicely settled for the next 5 days. The staff as always were kept busy, tidying, cleaning, mowing and helping out. The toilet and shower block operate a wrist band system which works well. The only very slight queueing was at the usual 'hotspot' morning and evening times but never more than a few minutes if at all. We had great weather and walked to the local pub for a bite to eat and to the local shop for some treats. A great 2.5 mile round trip countryside walk. Not for those less fit or unsteady as some of the walk is over rougher ground. A fantastic few days away and look forward to a return trip at some point soon. Would highly recommend.
Our favourite site
We came here first about 30 years ago, after a few years without a caravan we bought one last year and this was the first site we came back to. Twice last year, once this year ( so far ). We will be back, we love it here. Great for dogs, and people of all ages. Good play area for kids. Good places to walk. Plenty of nearby places to visit.

Beautiful site, great for dogs and kids
8m motorhome, 2 adults, 2 kids, 2 dogs. We stayed here for 2 nights in July 2020.
Staff very friendly and helpful. Pitches vary between flat hard standing and sloping grass.
Quite a large site with 2 shower/toilets blocks. Only used the upper block but was up to usual club standards.
Good play area for kids including playground ( closed at the moment ) and an enclosed, ball game area. Pitches near here get a lot of passing traffic as it's also the start of the dog walk. Excellent for dogs and there is a pub within walking distance.
Around 20 minutes drive to Hastings but also in range are other places worth visiting including Rye, Pevensey and Eastbourne.
One of the best club sites we've visited so far.
Wonderful site set in former landscaped gardens.
This site is within the grounds of a former country estate, with magnificent trees and shrubs still evident and the layout on different terraces gives character and lots of secluded private areas. Stunning setting and well located for walks along the 1066 trail, into Battle to the east, or west also. Battle Brewery is nearby for stocking up with local craft ales. Would definitely stay here again.
Lovely site
Our 2nd visit to this site. Everything is clean and tidy and very well spaced out. Can’t fault this site at all! Our first trip out after lockdown, so we were a little bit worried about how it would be organised. It was extremely well arranged, but sadly not all campers were abiding by the new arrangements! Not the site’s fault at all !
For a large site very peaceful and would definitely go there again! Thank you!
Great site, will definitely come again. Lots of space.
Lovely spacious plots in a great location. So nice to not be crammed in! We came in August and it was busy but the site was lovely, it was clean and tidy plus friendly wardens. We'll definitely be back!
A Sussex Gem
One of our favourite sites, we usually come here several times a year for short breaks.
Tucked in the Sussex countryside in the grounds of a long gone stately home, from the rhododendrons in bloom to the autumn leaves it's a lovely site.
Battle, with Al it's history is only a few miles away by car or you can walk from the site via Catsfield.
We will be back in 2020.
A Favourite
Returned to the site as it's been a favourite on ours, what's not to like. Lovely surroundings, interesting variety of trees now a multitude of autumn colours, facilities are first class and always well kept. The site has many pockets on several levels where you don't feel part of a larger site, mostly South facing, pleasant walks from site, numerous good pubs a within a short distant and plenty of places of interest within a short drive.
Closes in November unfortunately, but look forward to Spring next year to returning.
