This is a superb site, kept well maintained by very helpful and friendly wardens. It's fairly compact, but by no means cramped, with good pitch separation. Pitches seemed nice and level - ours certainly was. The toilet block was not large, but was kept clean and well presented at all times. The site is next to a busy road, with regular traffic, so some noise is inevitable, but it didn't bother us. Most members will be aware of the various attractions available within easy reach of the site, so I won't list them in detail, but we especially enjoyed S.S. Great Britain and Clifton Village was an interesting surprise. I recommend this site very highly.
We spent 4 nights here in March. It is not the easiest site to find, being hidden away on the Wharfside but it is definitely worth seeking out! The wardens gave a warm and friendly welcome on arrival. The site was busy but still retained a quiet atmosphere with a small amount of road noise. The pitches are of a reasonable size although the popularity of the site means that the choice is usually limited. The amenities were few in number but spotless. There is a gate at the bottom of the site which gives direct access to the Wharf ( a key to the gate is issued upon arrival). The SS Great Britain is a short walk away as are water taxis giving access to the City. There is a bus stop just outside the site entrance too. We discovered a lovely local park within a short walk which proved perfect for the dog! There is a lovely pub on the Wharf just along from the site with outside seating which offers food and drink. We really enjoyed watching the University rowing teams practising on the river in the sunshine. This site is a real gem and we hope to be able to return before is closes in 2 years. It will be a massive loss to the network.
Baltic Wharf is a surprise, a small site in a city that is both quiet and also convenient for the centre. We rediscovered "Brunel's Buttery" on the walk into the centre (it's between the SS-Great Britain and the M-Shed). Bristol is a place with a lot to see and this site makes it easy: recommended.
Had a great stay at Baltic Wharf been trying for a long time to stay here right on the footpath eon the waters edge, very nice everything we expected and more.
Will try to come again, handy to walk, bus or ferry into Bristol City centre.
We really enjoyed our visit to the Baltic Wharf Site. The wardens were very friendly and helpful. The site is perfectly located for trips into Bristol along The Wharf. It will be a great shame if the Club loses this site as there are very few sites within a city. A very well kept site.
Having The Cottage Inn next door was perfect, as were the ferries into Bristol City centre.
Been wanting to stay at Baltic Wharf for some time. Managed to get some free days this month. The position alongside the dock is great. There are pubs and cafes all the way into the city centre, or take the river taxi. Try the Cottage 200 yds.
The site is fine, a bit too much hardstanding for my taste and the facilities are just sufficient for the number of guests.
The wardens are very efficient and helpful.
It would be a great shame to loose this site.
We would like to be able to return this year.
When it comes to location, you really can't beat Baltic Wharf if you want a city break. Walk out of the door and you are on the harbourside - a prime location in one of Bristol's popular tourist areas. It's an easy walk into Bristol city centre and the site is also within easy walking distance of Clifton and the suspension bridge.
The site may not be the prettiest to look at but the staff are very friendly and helpful and we hope to return again soon.
We managed to get a weekend at this hard to book site and arrived on Friday 17th March. The weather was very blustery so ear plugs were needed for the noise of the adjacent yacht club halyards, otherwise a very peaceful site. The location is absolutely perfect on the promenade along the floating harbour. If you are able to climb a rather steep hill then the walk to the Clifton Suspension Bridge, with it's visitor centre is easily managed. Clifton Village is also rather nice to visit with plenty of eateries etc. The furthest shopping centre is only about a brisk 40 minute walk away with everything in between. The floating harbour side has many free attractions and there was boat racing in the dock over that weekend. There is an abundance of pubs and restaurants all within easy reach and an open top touring bus passes the site gates as well as the water busses stopping outside. The site facilities are a bit under par in my view compared to most Club sites we have visited, understandably no cash investment due to the tenancy but this is not reflected in the site fees. Spotlessly clean as you would expect. A full site, which is the norm, meant there was some queuing for showers and toilets at times. Very helpful wardens.
Great location - easy 25-30 minute walk into Bristol centre. Bus stop just outside the site too.
More than that though - it's a very well run site: clean, friendly and with all essential facilities.
We'll be doing our best to return as soon as we can.
We have wanted to try this site for a while, we couldn't have picked a worse weekend weather wise, however, it was still a very good weekend.
The site is clean and tidy, secure and the wardens friendly. The toilet block are not the best, however when there is always a threat to close the site, why invest too much. They are perfectly adequate.
The location is great, walk either way and you come to bars, shops, sights etc.
There seems to be plenty of Pubs that allow dogs, the closest and perhaps the best, is the Pump House, nice drinks, atmosphere and good food.
We shall definitely be back.
