We stayed at Baltic Wharf over the Christmas period.
It is a fantastic site very close to the centre of Bristol (walking distance).
Facilities are good with excellent friendly staff.
Fingers crossed it is not closed by the council as it will be a great loss to the club.
Use while lasts
Taken together with childhood visits with caravanning parents I've been coming to this site for over 30 years. One of the funny things about caravanning is people watching and several of the miserly (if creative) reviews on here about moats and toilets show why. The site is great for what it is - a city centre location that's easy to tow into and which benefits from The Cottage and Orchard pubs and which also has stunning views across the water to Clifton, including the illuminated suspension bridge at night.
It's not a site for those who want to see beautifully manicured lawns or flowers but it is a well run and functional site. They do have a thing about leaving at 11, and the front gate needs to be unlocked if you arrive back after about 2000hrs. This means stopping on one of the lanes of the road so use your hazards..
Frankly if you're venturing into Bristol and able bodied then leave the car alone, get the ferry across the water, or down into the centre. Or just walk past the amazing collection of museums, cafes and restaurants.
After all, it's a caravan site. Not, say, Trump Towers!
Great location but tired facilities
An excellent location to visit Bristol and sample all the local restaurants, pubs and attractions on foot. The back gate gives you immediate access to the riverside and is an excellent walk around Bristol city centre finishing off with the choice of two pubs providing excellent refreshments and food.
The site is compact with only a few pitches for awning and the most frustrating thing about this is that most if not all of these pitches are not being used to put up your awning. The toilets are showing their age and the gents toilets have extremely poor flushing capabilities. Despite the warning that it can take unto 2 minutes to fill the toilet flushing system it only takes on average about 15 seconds to flush empty resulting in blocked toilets and not a pretty half flushed contents staring back up at you; they need to resolve this issue, quickly.
Their are good links outside the main entrance for getting public transport and there is also good walking along the the river.
The practise of preventing arrival before 12 noon is standard club rules and I was disturbed to see a warning notice stating that the gates would be locked after 11am and opened at 12 noon as an incentive for members to leave before 11am. I thought when booking a pitch it was for 24 hours and not 23 hours. That said, I did not see the gates being locked and there were many occasions when new arrivals were arriving well before 12 noon; confusing what?
I also noticed signs stating that the site was NOT to be used as a dog walk and members had to clean up after their dogs. I have no issues with dog fouling and like most members are extremely annoyed when this occurs and as a responsible dog owner I always clean up after my dog. It seems as though there is a campaign being waged against dog owners, perhaps if this attitude was aimed at members who speed around sites, go against no entry sings, walk through your pitch instead of walking around the site on paths and roads and a most of other unacceptable actions.
Despite the negative comments, this is definitely one of the jewels in the crown and if it is lost to the Club will be poorly missed and detract from the options available to visit.
Disappointed
We had heard so many good things about this site that we were really looking forward to our visit.
Upon arrival we just looked at each other in total disbelief of what was in front of us, the site looked run down, scruffy and little better than a car park. The pitches could barely be seen owing to the amount of leaves that were covering them, there were huge puddles everywhere and it was difficult to get to the rear gate without getting our feet wet.
Access to the water point opposite pitch 9 was protected by a 2 foot wide moat and this was kept nicely topped up by the leaking hose on the tap of the waste water.
On every site that I have visited there have been waste/recycling bins placed conveniently around the site, not so at Baltic Wharf, we had to take our waste to the reception area. Not my favourite pastime in the late November rain.
On the plus side this site is in a lovely location and there is lots to do. Unfortunately it seems to be a CMCC policy that where sites are in a prime, popular location it is not necessary to make any effort to maintain them or carry out anything but the basics. Amongst my gripes are leaking hoses, toilets that didn’t flush, cubicles with coat hooks missing and not enough staff to run the place effectively.
Excellent site in super location
Lovely site with good facilities which are immaculately maintained by helpful staff. My only criticism is the number of notices regarding dogs. Most sites have a couple of notices but here they appear everywhere. I can’t believe dog owners who use this site are more irresponsible than elsewhere so to demonise the vast majority of owners is unfair and unnecessary.

Even good weather is provided free of charge!
We have just got back from a short stay at Baltic Wharf. The site is highly recommended as a brilliant base for visiting the Wharf, Bristol city centre and Clifton. All are a short walk away, but with cycling, water taxis etc there are no problems accessing the city. If you want to visit Bristol then book with confidence!
Great location, very good site
We stayed at this site for the first time in November. It was excellent and did not disappoint. The location is brilliant. Bristol city centre is only a short distance away and can be reached by walking, water ferry or taxi (Uber was great). The pub next door is good - it serves food which was excellent quality and reasonably priced. This site is small and more compact than most but this is only to be expected due to the location. The staff were helpful and friendly plus the facilities were spotlessly clean. We have booked for next year and would recommend. There is plenty to do in the city: theatre, eating places, shopping at Cabot Circus, history/ architecture at Clifton and the bridge, walking at Ashton and woods below Clifton.
Brilliant Bristol
We have been waiting to visit this site since we joined the Club. Finally, two days before we were “off on a trip somewhere” this month, we looked on the booking site and - joy of joys - a vacancy for two nights. We grabbed it! When we were actually on site we managed to obtain an extra night and we had a great time. Yes, okay, the site is a bit like a car park with little landscaping around the pitches but this time of year we wanted hard standing (and walking to the very clean and well kept shower block). All that can be ignored with the easy access to the city, the helpful site manager and, by following the Club’s directions, easy access to actually get on to the site (although the very tight, sharp left turn into the gateway should be emphasised more).
It is everything that the positive reviews say about it. Easy access to the city by water, bus or walking. Bristol is a vibrant, historically interesting city that a mere three nights couldn’t begin to do justice to. While we were there we were lucky enough to have quiet and well-behaved neighbours just like us and the traffic noise outside the site walls didn’t bother us at all. Definitely a return visit desired.
Excellent location in a buzzing city
We have been meaning to try this site for some time and finally managed to book on during my half term holiday. We were so glad we made the effort - its a fabulous location with the city and other attractions within easy walking distance or ferry ride which is great. Bristol itself has lots to offer, from the old city, harbourside and wharf areas to the Clifton suspension bridge, observatory, country park, the zoo and a modern shopping centre. Many of the bars are dog friendly and there are lots of places to eat and drink. People were friendly and welcoming wherever we went and the atmosphere is great. Its worthwhile taking the time to find out about the area (over the river a short distance away is a local shopping area with an Aldi and several bars and gift shops) and if you're a footy fan Bristol City's ground is within easy walking distance. There is also a lovely park also a short walk away. I do think the information centre should contain some of this information rather than just the standard attractions leaflets as there is so much to do which is interesting and free. Walk round the city and there are 'Banksy's' to see and the industrial and engineering heritage and Brunel's legacy round the wharf is fascinating too. Overall a fantastic location - hopefully if the lease is not renewed the club will find somewhere equally as convenient to replace it.

Ideal for Bristol sightseeing
Only managed to get 3 nights stay in October after kept searching for availability - previously been to Bristol but pre-Motorhome. WE booked a pitch for awning but really there wasn't enough room and I would not bother again - just book a standard pitch.
Weather was very wet - but thats not the CAMC fault - was surprised how well the rain drained away though after an all night downpour.
Facilities were clean and found the wardens very chatty & friendly.
We were there to explore Bristol - which given the weather we managed to get up to the Suspension Bridge and down through the country park and watched the deer. On our driest day cycled old railway through Bristol to Bath & back (36 miles approx) although finding the start of it was an issue. Would just state that the information room had neither details of this cycle route or anything about the Country Park - some visitors could miss this.
