Balbirnie - Mid week stay for three days.

Arrived early afternoon and was greeted by their up beat team who were very helpful. The pitch was excellent and the site facilities were exceptional both for myself in the ablutions and the services for the motorhome. Around about there were plenty of sights to see and places to walk. Very picturesque and interesting. Cant' wait to visit again.

lovely site in a great location, but......

We enjoyed our stay here and the site is very tidy with little areas to pitch in making it feel much smaller than it actually is, the location is great being right beside the centre of markinch which is a nice wee town. there is a nice pub within a small level walk with a beautiful beer garden too The only downside of our visit is the cleaning schedule for the toilets and washing facilities There is a large toilet block with very clean and well kept facilities with kids toilet and bath at one end elevation, seperate male and female toilets and showers on the main elevation and a washing station for dishes and a disabled toilet on the other elevation The big frustration for us was closing ALL the facilities for cleaning between 10.30 and noon, which is when you are to leave the pitch Leaving this large site with absolutely no toilet facilities for 90 mins at this time of day is just ridiculous, especially when they have the facility to split it into two or three sections leaving at least minimal toilet facilities available This practice really needs to be looked at, as this is exactly when the visitors to the site need the facilities most. The toilet block is then closed again entirely , again with absolutely no access between1600 and 1700, which is inconvenient but not as critical as the morning closure when people are looking to head off for the day or leaving for new location i cant stress enough it is absolutely avoidable and couldnt be at a worse time for the site users, please change this procedure

We will return.

First time at this site and pleased we went, cant fault anything , nice and quiet with good facilities, staff very friendly and helpful . Lovely walks in the park and woods with our doggies , didn't bother us that some pitches are overlooked by houses, we will return soon.

Excellent

Previous review’s comments regarding “council estate” should not give concern. At one edge of the parkland there are a few houses and that’s it. We were pitched up backing onto the houses and had some lovely conversations each morning with a resident doing his gardening and enjoyed watching the antics of his cat. The parkland is beautiful, local food store is excellent and good bus and train services nearby.

Site.

Stay here last year but left after two days. The pictures don’t show the council estate behind over looking you. The pitch we were put on right by a main road and traffic lights flickering all night in the Motorhome. Worst site we ever been to.

Fantastic Site and great staff

As motorhome beginners, we had never stayed at a club site before. We were given a great welcome and now know which way round to park and hook up. The site is fantastic, warm shower and toilet block that is really spotless, large dish washing area and minutes from the village which has 2 good shops and a big park. Our dog loved romping through the woods which are at the gates, he had a fantastic time! The wardens are stars, really friendly and able to give great advice to complete novices. We ate at the Balbirnie House Hotel twice, dogs are welcome in the lounge and they set up a table in the drawing room for us on the Saturday as they had a large wedding reception.

Another first

We have just spent a great week at Balbirnie. If, like us, you park up and then make the most of your bus pass, this is the site for you. The bus stops situated at the park gates give you access to the whole of Fife and much further. We had a great week exploring during the day and chilling, on site, at night. The facilities are spotless and the wardens work very hard especially clearing leaves which, at this time, must be thanklessThe charming town of Markinch is a short walk away and is well served by two general stores and the railway station. The adjacent Balbirnie Park gives access to some beautiful, all seasons, walks. Unlike me, do remember that the site barrier is lifted by pressing the button on the remote control they give you when you arrive, oh how we laughed!:)

Fife Favourite

This was our first visit to Balbirnie for several years and we were not disappointed. The staff here were very welcoming and helpful. The facilities are kept to a very high standard of cleanliness. There are very good safe areas for walking dogs within the nearby Balbirnie Park. The Balbirnie House Hotel is also situated here where the meals are very good. There is also an excellent golf course situated within the park.

A wonderful site and a most helpful warden

I was only able to stay for one night and arrived quite late. The warden was charming and most helpful and also recommended some fine places, around 5 minutes from the campsite, where I could get some food. The site was clean, tidy and it is clearly well-managed. I would have liked to have stayed for longer but had to move on but I will return to this site. Also great fun watching the squirrels scamper around the site. Overall, I would say the best thing about the site was the warden who was most delightful.

Scottish tour

Good location next to park with great walks and also close to Glenrothes for any nescessaries. There are some grass pitches which i think are in the best place on site but they would be better if they were hard standing as when i visited they were all closed . The warden did say that these pitches had been waterlogged all season which must mean that the club is losing revenue. Some of the hard standing pitches are overlooked very close by houses its like being in the back garden its a shame because with a little screaning the site would be excellent.
