Peace & Quiet

First time at this sight. Would recommend, and will return, but not in the summer months as we think it might be noisy with all the houses close by,although we were away from them and it is October. A great base for Perth,Edinburgh & Dundee a half hours drive away approx. Staff friendly as usual. High standards as usual. One down, not enough lighting up in open area (the 44's). And I kinda did miss not having wifi.

A good place to stretch your legs

This site is very close to our home and so my wife and I thought we'd give a it a go as a quick weekend getaway. We were not disappointed. The site it within the grounds of Balbirnie house and the very friendly wardens advised that there was 400 acres of woodland and fields for us to explore with our dog. Which we did. The site itself is kept to the standard that you expect from caravan club sites and can't be faulted. You are just a few minutes walk from the centre of Markinch, that has a co-op, mace store, two hotels, three bars and a Chinese takeaway. All you need for a weekend away. You are also just a couple of minutes drive from Glenrothes where all the main supermarkets are. Plus, its the Kingdom of Fife! Golf, castles and beaches galore!!. I would recommend this site to anyone with a dog or young family, as I stated above the 400 acres of woodland walks are great(plus the Balbirnie House Hotel is there if you fancy treating yourself to some superb food) The paths are not too taxing if you have difficulty walking or need a stick or wheelchair to get around. All in all a great little site. Even the tv reception is good and you don't need a signal booster. Both wardens that we met were very friendly and were constantly out checking the site and keeping it tidy. Good job.

Balbirnie beginning and end

Well we started this year at Balbirnie and are finishing here as well (with a few visits in between). We keep coming back because Sam and Andy are nicest, friendly wardens we have met. They work tirelessly at this site but always have time for a chat. The site looks wonderful with vast improvements over this year - a great credit to them both. So glad to hear that they will be back here next year - looking forward to seeing them next year. The grounds at Balbirnie Park look beautiful with the autumn colour at the moment - our border collies love the walks through the woods and parkland and my husband loves the golf course there as well. The Chinese takeaway in Markinch is worth a visit. All in all a great end to our caravanning summer - next comes the winter caravanning - such a pity Balbirnie closes otherwise we would be there all winter.

Beautiful Balbirnie

This was our 2nd stay at Balbirnie and this is one of my favourite sites, it is a very shaded site enclosed by trees, you can get the sunshine but just for part of the day as blocked by trees, depending on which pitch you are sited on, so take this into consideration if your a sunworshipper.   It is located next to Balbirnie Park itself great for walking & dogs, a 2 min walk gets you into Markinch Village where you can purchase the necessities,  a short ride to Glenrothes takes you to the larger stores for your big shop.  St. Andrews is worth a visit for the beach alone our dogs were comatosed after our day out there,  Anstruther is a lovely little place and of course dont miss out on the fish & chips,  a visit to Elie is also worth thinking about park in the beach side park, and a walk along the coast line is lovely there are old ruins to see and the rocky coast line is Black and looks volcanic,   there are plenty of Parklands in this area also worth a visit,  Leven is also a nice place to see whilst in the area,  the Kingdom of Fife is a lovely area to visit, with or without children as i am sure there is something here for everyone. We will most certainly be back,  Sam & Andy are 2 of the nicest wardens we have had the pleasure in meeting, just great down to earth people, hard working, a conscientious workers care a great deal about the caravanners requirements.

Great location

Just back from our second visit this year to Balbirnie. This site is very local to us (only 30 mins away), but once parked up, you could be miles away from anywhere. We previously stayed in August and had hoped to be able to use the same pitch but it was already taken. Turned out to be a good thing. The pitch we chose this time around was superb. Nestled among trees with sunshine late morning/early afternoon made our stay and even bigger pleasure than before! The wardens on the site are very helpful and friendly and are always working away keeping the place neat and tidy. TV reception was excellent and so was mobile signal on our selected pitch (4G for the duration!). Balbirnie Park, adjacent to the site is fantastic for us and our 3 dogs. Lots of nice walks. Despite being vermin, I was still fascinated by the squirrels, working away storing food for the winter. That and a deer running over the park one morning made the stay that little bit more special. Ah yes, and the distinctive call of an owl on the first evening. Some may find these things annoying - not me. Despite only being a short drive away from home for us, we will absolutely visit again.

Our First Trip To Balbirnie Park

We have just returned from our first visit to Balbirnie Park Caravan Club Site which consisted of four nights. The park is set in a small country park just outside the village of Markinch in Fife. The location is superb as it gives you easy access for most places in the Fife area and not too far from Edinburgh too. The village of Markinch itself has some shops which includes a Co-op, a Chinese takeaway and some pub's. There is also a train station in Markinch with services as far north as Aberdeen and as south as Edinburgh. We used the train for a day out and some lunch in Kirkcaldy. St Andrews is about a half hour drive from the park. Be sure to call into Anstruther on the way for some of the famous fish and chip's. Glenrothes is about two miles from the park where you will find an Asda, Aldis, B&M, Morrisons, McDonalds with other food takeaways and shop's also.    The park itself is very well kept and whilst we where there was very quiet and relaxing. The toilets of course like all Caravan Club Sites where spotless and warm. In fact all the facilities where spotless and the wardens are always busy. The small country park adjacent to the site is good for walking and cycling. We had a really nice time here and will return again for sure.

Just dropped in

We were on our way home from a tour of the Orkneys and Highlands and needed a quite spot to rest ourselves and our motorhome. We found this site in the club book and set the sat Nav with the post code. Coming from the north this doesn't work with Tom Tom, it seems the iriginal lane has now been built over by a new housing estate. Not daunted we followed the instructions and found the site quite easily. This is a very quite and secluded site set amoung trees. The staff were most helpful, explaining that there are shops only a 5 minute walk away. The facilities were absolutely top class, very clean and comprehensive, the whole site was a pleasure to stop in, in other circumstances we would have stayed longer. Well done the staff!!

Top Class Site

We enjoyed a break here earlier this month. The wardens work very hard to keep their site immaculate. The large number of trees can keep the sun away but at least we saw some sun. Contrary to the site details, we got excellent TV reception but only intermittent mobile phone reception.

Can not wait to go back

A beautiful well maintained caravan club site, a fantastic base to start your travels, peaceful nights to enjoy your sleep, and shower and toilet blocks that are so clean you could eat off the floor. its run by people who know exactly what we like as caravaners. We tend to travel no more that 40 miles aday when visiting places around where we stay, making Balbernie Park perfect for Edinburgh, Dundee, Pitlochry, Dunkeld and Queensferry and a must for everyone the awarding winning Fish & Chip shop at Anstruther, watch out, they can que along time for their tea, but well worth the wait. The site is fantastic if you have a dog, we took molly and there are some great walks all around Balbernie House, lots of greens and woodland, plenty of bins provided to clear up any mess made, as we all should. So to end, Balbernie Park Caravan Club Site is the perfect place to stay and enjoy your travels around Scotland. last tip, Free parking at the train station, trains to Edinburgh approx every 30 mins, £11.30 return, off peak..  Regards Tony and Alison
