Well kept busy site

Stopped here en route to Ireland ferry. Friendly warden very helpful. Pleasant riverside walk to Ayr centre. Good washing facilities. Did the job and would return again for a couple of nights.

OK, not great. Dogs a problem here.

Site is quite cramped compared to others we have used in Scotland. Expensive too for early July, but this was partly due to Scottish school holidays starting. Wardens keep site very clean and tidy with nice floral displays at reception. Disappointing that wifi is only Bronze rated as this is in Ayr and near Glasgow, so should be better. Main complaint is dogs being allowed to walk off leads and, even when on leads, to foul and urinate on site in contravention of Club rules.Wardens were sympathetic, and said that signs reminding dog owners of Club rules had been removed following complaints by dog owners!!! Oh yes, and the Club leaflet on rules for dogs on site was not handed out to dog owners on arrival because it was not in the new Caravan and Motorhome Club livery! What about those of us who do not own dogs and do not like living in a dog toilet? I will not be going back any time soon for this reason alone.

Remains one of our favourite sites

Enjoyed our stay here as usual. Ideal site for access to riverside walks and easy access to the town and beach. Great site for dog owners. Always well maintained with lovely floral display at the entrance. Wardens always very helpful and friendly. Only thing that marred our stay was another camper helping themselves to our water filling hose and adaptors that my husband accidentally left beside the drinking water tap. Shame on you for not handing it in to the office!

ok for a stopover

we stayed on our way up to the highlands in May, won't be staying again, site clean and tidy, very busy on the 2 nights we stopped, wouldn't like to have been staying longer, good if you like busy sites near to a city, we prefer 5 sites so this was too busy for us. good amenities and wardens helpful. . good dog walk by the river when we found it, would have been useful to have information on how to get to the walk from the site..

sheltered and peaceful, had a wonderful weekend

We have just returned from a wonderful weekend at Ayr Craigie Gardens. The site was easily accessible even though it is located virtually in the city of Ayr. the club site located next to the university was surprisingly quiet the sheltered location makes the most of the weather, during our visit it was quite windy around the area but not on the site, the wardens are very friendly and helpful, the toilets and showers clean warm and tidy, the amenities of the city are within an easy 10 minute walk there are supermarkets close by 5 minutes by car, good restaurants, shops and a railway station. a lovely walk along side the river and even Ayr Race course within easy walking distance. would certainly recommend the site and will return.

Good site

Stayed here for 2 nights in April and the weather was fab for the time of year. We found the site easily enough but I can understand how some might have trouble as it just doesn't look like a road that is going anywhere. Wardens were most helpful and explained walks, how to get into town (within walking distance), etc. The site is kept immaculate as you would expect and is a nice quiet site close to the racecourse, railway station and the town. Being new to caravanning we struggled a bit trying to get a tv signal and eventually gave up, it does mention in the brochure they give you that the signal is not good so be warned if you like your tv you might be disappointed the chap over from us even had a satellite dish and couldn't get any reception but I think it also depends on where you are on the site. The only other thing I would mention is that there is only one toilet block/shower area and sometimes in the morning there was a queue for the showers. Otherwise a pleasant stay and a good clean site.

Good stay

Used as a stopover for two nights on way back home from the Highlands. Wardens very helpful and friendly, facilities immaculate and access to the site was as well. Nice area to explore.

Late leavers

We have a touring caravan and have visited this site many times. It is lovely and peaceful with all the good points made in other reviews. Unfortunately, this site, like many other Club sites, is let down by those people who leave after 12 noon. When we arrived on 16th April there were only 8 pitches free BUT 4 units had still to check out. One of these left at 3.45pm! This is not an isolated case. We have seen it happen often on this and other Club sites. I know this is the "friendly club" but these people are testing that friendship to the limit!

Great Site

Great site which I believe is under threat of being taken off the clubs sites due to the fact that South Ayrshire Council will only give the club short term leases hence the reason no upgrading has taken place I have been using this site before and after the club took it over from the council and this season I think I met the most over zealous Warden receiving a visit from the Warden at eight thirty P.M. to tell me that my television was too loud was a bit much 10.00 P.M. and I might have been very apologetic This has been creeping in for a few years now Wardens that think the site is there own personal property so a good stay spoiled somewhat otherwise worth a visit
