Enjoyable weekend

A small, well kept site.Wardens very pleasant. Lovely village with convenience store, bakery and butchers. Good walks from site. Half an hour to Park and Ride into Cambridge. Only downside is small toilet block (two showers, three privacy cubicles and three loos) which meant some queuing at times.

A wonderful peaceful and tranquil site with excellent Wardens

Ashridge Farm is one of our favourite sites. We've stayed there a number of times both for extended stays and as an overnight stopover on our way to the south coast. The site is within easy reach of the A1 and the nearby towns of Baldock and Royston. It is a beautifully kept small site with impeccable facilities which are a credit to the Wardens, George & Lesley. They are a lovely, kind helpful couple and it will be sad to see them leave in November and we wish them well for the future. Ashridge Farms loss will be ?s gain. There are plenty of walks around the area and the village of Ashwell has the usual shops and amenities and a couple of pubs with good food. We are loathe to recommend this site only because we want to ensure we can get on in the future.

Tranquil

Loved the location as you could easily walk into the village for provisions, coffee etc and meals at the local pubs. We fully agree with the review titled 'Peaceful'.

Peaceful

We have just spent a lovely week here. As mentioned facilities are spotless at all times as is the site. It is wonderfully quiet and perfect for recharging the batteries. There is no dog walk on site but numerous around and about, you only have to turn out the gate for a leisurely stroll through fields ( with a track to walk on). A 10/15 minute walk gets you to the centre of the village, small but 2 lovely pubs we tended to eat in the Rose and Crown, the food was delicious, home cooked and very reasonably priced. There is also the usual village store, post office and scrumptious bakery selling all sorts of goodies which we noticed many of the locals using ( always a good sign). We went on a couple of bus trips, the stop again is about a 10 minute walk (Depending how long it takes with pooch sniffing??). The bus is not that frequent but certainly adequate the driver (same one each time) knew every one getting aboard and was very friendly, he told us where to get the bus home, the times and even dropped us at the end of the road to save the short walk back. We did not have the family with us but there did not seem to be much there for youngsters though plenty of walking and possibly bike riding in the area. For a place to chill with enough around if needed we would recommend it.

site

Stopped  on this site to and from kent as we live in Scarborough.  Site very clean and tidy. Best toilets and showers weve been to.prefer cl sites for our main holiday but this did what we wanted it to do being close to the a1. Whilst we were there the village show was on and enjoyed it very much. Wardens were the best, very friendly  and helpful.

What a Surprise

We have never been to this area before and arrived with uncertainty - small site, large storage area what were we coming to and for 11 nights? Well it's a gem, nicely laid out, everyone was really friendly and the wardens outstanding. The walking from site is really good, Cambridge is not far away and well worth a visit and the village is very attractive with an outstanding butcher. We were blessed with very good weather and it was harvest time so plenty of activity locally. Bushel and Strike pub serves good food and good beer and is dog friendly. Definitely somewhere we will return to.

All you need

We arrived on Thursday lunchtime to a pleasant welcome from the warden. There were only a handful of pitches left and only 3 hard standing. The pitches were very spacious and deep, which was nice as we were under some low hanging trees and the extra depth allowed us to pull the van forward a bit. Toilets were clean and all the other facilities were exactly as every other CC site. The village is an easy walk and quite a fascinating little place with some good pubs. Site access was very easy with no pinch points for the faint hearted. The local land is flat so perfect for walking or cycling. The Shuttleworth collection is only a few miles away and well worth a visit as is Duxford air museum. A nice little quiet site with no apparent bad points. Also has a wonderful sized storage area that we were envious of as we live too far to make use of it.

Quiet corner

We love this site and actually keep our caravan in the storage there. It suits us as we have family nearby and we call our caravan our mobile 'granny annexe'. It just gives us peace and quiet. The wardens are lovely and very helpful. They even let us borrow their own long brush to give the van a quick wash over and are always helpful if we have a problem. We've only had this caravan a short while and as everyone knows you do forget how do set some things up. The facilities are super clean and the site is clean and tidy, there's also a great pub in the village that lets us take the dog in and the food is very good. As well as some little shops and a bakery. An absolute gem'

A Gem of a site

We stayed just one night here on the way home from the Isle of Wight back to Norfolk. What a lovely little site with friendly staff and members! Very quiet and I've given it a 4 for 'good for families' as it's not up at the top compared to other 'family sites' that have playgrounds etc. Not that it bothered us as there is plenty of walking and cycling directly out of the site and it's a lovely area with loads of attractions nearby. We had dinner at the Rose and Crown pub in the village and it was absolutely superb - I had the best rib-eye steak I've had in a long time! The site is kept clean and tidy and interesting to see waste friendly ideas such as 'grease guzzlers' in the dish-washing area. We will be returning here for a longer stay!

Lovely peaceful site

This is lovely peaceful site. It is the second time that we have stayed here and we were made most welcome. It is spotlessly clean with good facilities and its location is perfect for exploring the many villages nearby. It is really handy for getting to Cambridge too. We will be back!
