We have returned to this site several times over the years. It is always very clean and tidy. The facilities block is nice and warm even in the coldest of weather. It is in a really good location for getting into London and the surrounding areas either by train or by bus. We used our bus passes and had free travel, takes a bit longer than the train but we weren't in a hurry. Will be back.
The Abbey Wood site is an excellent place to pitch to put London in easy reach. We had a number days out in the city, Greenwich and Dartford - which were all within easy reach via the frequent train service. Bit of a hill from the train station up to the camp site, if that matters to you. The site is very secure and quiet. The wardens friendly. Lots of quite tame squirrels. We had a decent quality meal at the local curry house (The Taj Mahal). We will be back.
we visited this site for 2 nights in late January, it was very clean and well kept, the facilities were warm and welcoming and the staff were helpful
we travelled into London by train each day, it was slightly further into London than I thought but we had no problems and the trains were regular even into the late evenings on the weekend
First time staying at a Caravan Club Site and chose this site because of closeness to railway station.
Site staff friendly and welcoming, even at 7.45 p.m. on a windy, wet Friday evening. Toilet block clean and presentable and very well heated (cosy even in January). Site appeared well maintained and the location of it so close to train station was brilliant.
Will stay here again when next in London.
Watch out for the foxes, cats and parakeets (yes, parakeets, google parakeets of Abbey Wood if you don't believe me!)
Marked down on peace and quiet solely because of some car alarms, sirens and aircraft noise - although entirely as expected for its location. Just don't compare that with a countryside site.
This site is a little oasis in Abbey Wood, London, ideal location for train right into the centre of town (about 40 minutes); very green and pleasant site with clean facilities. Helpful, friendly staff.
We have been to Abbey Wood once before, but it is obvious that, for visits to the capital or south-east of the capital, it is by far the best place to stay in the entire London area. The facilities are perfect, the shower block was immaculately clean, and the general air of a rural backwater makes it feel miles from the dirt of the city. Even in January, when the wind and rain made a lot of noise at night, the site looks attractive and special. The only gripes we had were the buses, which were fine going to a location (we visited the O2 Arena), but coming back it was a nightmare; buses too full to stop, and hopelessly infrequent. I suggest you use the excellent train service and tube or DLR for your trips into London, which are frequent and usually quite reliable. We will definitely come again.
Time off is very important to us and the fact that this site is only 2 hours away is brilliant. We have stayed at this site many times now and have enjoyed all of them. Its a pity you can't utilise the late arrivals area during the day you leave so you could spend one more day in London. Be off the pitch early and out of the late arrivals by 1800/1900 even if this cost £10 for the half day. Just an idea. Thank you to the staff for a good week.
