Quiet site in London with easy access to public transport

We previously set up an account for the Dart crossing and payment was taken automatically. Site easy to get to from M25. Check-in swift and warm welcome. Site about 85% full , but very quiet. We pitched under an oak tree which was a big mistake at this time of year as acorns continued to crash on the caravan roof - we know for next time. Nice site especially as in urban area. Everything clean and well maintained. Good value at this time of year (Sept). Access to bus and train station within 5min or so walk - regular trains about 30 mins to Charing Cross. We used contactless (UK) bank cards which worked out well on TFL .Enjoyed some of the numerous attractions in London ( too many to list here). Would use again for Central London attractions.

A really handy site for London

Tried this site for the first time last week. It will not be the last. Great facilities, helpful staff, good pitch selection. Hard to believe it's a stones throw from the center of London. We caught an early train from Abbey wood directly into Charing Cross and in 26 minutes we were there. It's no more than 10 minutes to walk to the station with a good cafe on the way to a hearty breakfast if you're so inclined. I'm sure there are other things to do and places to see other than the big city so we'll certainly try it again soon.

Just to Clarify the Dart crossing charge in below reviews

I have visited this site many times & am due again in 2 weeks. The Dart crossing is not a C charge (Congestion zone charge) as stated in the below reviews from May 2017 which may be a little confusing for those that are not familiar with the charges. There is a Dart crossing charge 7 days a week, but not charged on an evening. This is not part of the LEZ area but the site is within the LEZ area so if you do not meet the criteria you would get a charge for entering the LEZ but the bridge is not part of the LEZ. The difference I think is a LEZ charge is around £100 a day I believe on week days where the Dart crossing is £2.50 and cheaper if you have an account. I just wanted to clarify this for visitors. Regards, Roy

May in Abbeywood

A really lovely site set within a mature woodland with quite magnificient trees, we even saw Parakeets, but didn't see the foxes who apparently steal shoes! Excellent, enthusiastic staff, the usual clean and excellent facilities with the added bonus for those of us lucky enough, or old enough to have free bus passes, easy trips to central London with a really convenient bus stop just around the corner. Crossrail will soon be operating from the station, a few minutes walk away, so good transport links - and all on your doorstep for a few pounds a night - what value! ps/The one, very slight, fly in the ointment is the noise from the airports, City and Heathrow during the day if you are on site., They do not operate at night.

Great for London Visits

Very good site if you want to visit London - the train station is conveniently nearby. The park is quite large and surprisingly peaceful, given that it is located in a busy urban area. The standard of the park is good, neat and well kept, the staff are very friendly and helpful. A large supermarket is about 15-20 minutes walk away, the site map may be a bit confusing but go up the stairs to the bridge above - it's nearby. Remember there is a C-zone on the Dartford bridge and a charge is applicable from 6am to 10pm. The roads approaching the site are typical London-type roads - narrow with many parked cars so take care. There is a super overnight area next to the gate with power hookup if you arrive late. The only downside of our visit was the walk to the shops and train station through a very scruffy area and past a pub with some unsavoury characters outside. Everything else was great.

First Visit

We stayed here for 4 days having returned from our tour of Europe. The wardens are all helpful and friendly, and it is a well maintained site. The toilet/shower blocks (2 of them) are standard Caravan Club. The washing machine and drier are very good. The site is close to Abbey Wood train station with regular trains into London. The site is very quiet and I would recommend it to all members.

Fantastic site

Loved staying on this site. Train station only a stone throw away. Sainsburys superstore also within walking distance. Staff were so welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Very peaceful site. Would definitely stay here again.

may bank Holiday Break

An excellent site for visiting London. The staff were friendly and informative, the site was clean and attractive and although within a built up area of London seemed very rural. trains from the local station were not running over the bank holiday so we took the number 180 bus (5mins walk) to Greenwich for a lovely day out and on the second day took a boat from Greenwich pier to central London. I will definitely be coming back here.
