Driving over Chestnut's

As the previous reviewer,we used the this site for an Emeli Sande do at the 02 arena, site very busy for October with very pleasant weather as well.Obviously London is the main attraction with the station so near, but we had a meal in Blackheath, and visited Greenwich. This is a site for getting out and about.Journey from A2 was ok just follow instructions and take it easy over the speed hump area on Mcleod Road. If this helps to visit the London 02 arena,Abbey Wood to Charlton (two stops on our train) then bus to 02 terminal. £26 for car parking if you drive.

Quite Site With Fast Easy Connection to London

Stayed here recently for one night after going to a gig at The 02 in North Greenwich. Five minute walk to station with frequent connections to Woolwich Arsenal (for the DLR) or Cannon Street for the city. There is also a bus stop near the station that also goes to Greenwich, although we did not use it. Usual Club site facilities were spotless. Easy access from the A2 with brown camping signs to follow as well. Traffic was quite light when we arrived around 1pm. We will be returning in December to stay after another 02 gig.

Poor modified showers and noisy due to leaf blowers

If it's not grass cutting its leaf blowing that disturbs the relative peace of club sites and this one, at the end of September was no exception. Add to the city airport planes taking off this was not a peaceful break. At least the airport closes at lunchtime on Saturday and there are no flights on Sunday (no such luck with the leaf blowing). All club toilet blocks are clean and this is no exception, however my big complaint is that having a disability I like to use the showers that are modified for the disabled (with the flexible hose). On the site the hose has been clamped to the wall and the flex cannot be freed - so there is no point and I am sure this is not a caravan and motor home club approved adaptation of the facility. The direction signposts lead you a merry chase round the houses and in future I will use sat nav but taking care on the final approach.

Quiet site in London with easy access to public transport

We previously set up an account for the Dart crossing and payment was taken automatically. Site easy to get to from M25. Check-in swift and warm welcome. Site about 85% full , but very quiet. We pitched under an oak tree which was a big mistake at this time of year as acorns continued to crash on the caravan roof - we know for next time. Nice site especially as in urban area. Everything clean and well maintained. Good value at this time of year (Sept). Access to bus and train station within 5min or so walk - regular trains about 30 mins to Charing Cross. We used contactless (UK) bank cards which worked out well on TFL .Enjoyed some of the numerous attractions in London ( too many to list here). Would use again for Central London attractions.

A really handy site for London

Tried this site for the first time last week. It will not be the last. Great facilities, helpful staff, good pitch selection. Hard to believe it's a stones throw from the center of London. We caught an early train from Abbey wood directly into Charing Cross and in 26 minutes we were there. It's no more than 10 minutes to walk to the station with a good cafe on the way to a hearty breakfast if you're so inclined. I'm sure there are other things to do and places to see other than the big city so we'll certainly try it again soon.

Just to Clarify the Dart crossing charge in below reviews

I have visited this site many times & am due again in 2 weeks. The Dart crossing is not a C charge (Congestion zone charge) as stated in the below reviews from May 2017 which may be a little confusing for those that are not familiar with the charges. There is a Dart crossing charge 7 days a week, but not charged on an evening. This is not part of the LEZ area but the site is within the LEZ area so if you do not meet the criteria you would get a charge for entering the LEZ but the bridge is not part of the LEZ. The difference I think is a LEZ charge is around £100 a day I believe on week days where the Dart crossing is £2.50 and cheaper if you have an account. I just wanted to clarify this for visitors. Regards, Roy

May in Abbeywood

A really lovely site set within a mature woodland with quite magnificient trees, we even saw Parakeets, but didn't see the foxes who apparently steal shoes! Excellent, enthusiastic staff, the usual clean and excellent facilities with the added bonus for those of us lucky enough, or old enough to have free bus passes, easy trips to central London with a really convenient bus stop just around the corner. Crossrail will soon be operating from the station, a few minutes walk away, so good transport links - and all on your doorstep for a few pounds a night - what value! ps/The one, very slight, fly in the ointment is the noise from the airports, City and Heathrow during the day if you are on site., They do not operate at night.
