Wildemere Farm was the first CL we ever stayed at during our Caravanning days. Two / three years on - we are now Motorhomers – we have returned.
The drive or tow to Wildemere Farm is easy and makes this CL accessible to all; we are a 9m-twin TAG motorhome and the entrance was no problem.
Do not be daunted if you Google map the approach down Wildemere La, there are plenty of passing points on the final approach; plus the gate entrance to CL is very wide.
Trees open fields border the CL and it has great feel of the Suffolk countryside. There is plenty of room to maneuver and pitch where you feel you’d like as the EHU is down the center of the CL area – we did not use the EHU, as we have an excellent solar system; and David kindly gives a £2 p/night discount.
There are grey water drains pottered over the sight, in conjunction with a larger grey water dump point fenced in the refuse area. A separate new CC Site style ESLAN is available via the gate to the next field.
The ground is reasonably level and the grass is cut to nice level. Coupled with the warm welcome from David, Tanya and I just looked at each other and said “why do we not come here more often” – considering it is a 40min drive for us we now will.
Having two chocolate Labradors, dog walks are key for us.
Just outside to the right of the entrance provides dog walkers with a path to a large open field area that the most energetic of hounds can be tired.
For the more relaxing approach, the CL provides a well stocked information hut and TV aerial points for you to enhance your TV signal.
If like us you have you own Sat system the tree-line does not effect you getting the required lock to Astra-2.
Peace and quiet equals’ relaxation and Wildemere Farm is the tonic to leave the woes of the week behind.
The town of Mildenhall – a short cycle or drive away - can provide a source for takeaways / pubs and shopping. Therefore, for those staying longer it’s easy to keep the fridge full of wine and beer.
A short stay, or a base to visit the delights of Norfolk, Suffolk or Cambridgeshire? I can’t think of a reason why you would not want to base yourself at Wildemere Farm which is great value for money at £10 p/night or £8 p/night for non-EHU.
See you soon David – Tanya & Mick.
Relaxing Weekend
Arrived and was met by David who was extremely helpful. The site is very clean, tidy and flat and well drained. The summer house has everything you could possible need.
Theford Forest is about 20 minutes and the cycle trails are good particularly 'the beast'. Will definitely be returning.
Absolute Delight
Stayed here for 3 nights in May and enjoyed every minute David the site owner made you very welcome and very interesting to talk to with a lot of knowledge of the local area the site is very well kept and the pitches all have their own water supply and waste drainage plus tv aerial connection and if you have not got the equipment to connect to the services it is available in the summer house at the far corner of the site. To sum up a lovely relaxing site that we will be going back to.

Fantastic
Met up with some friends here and had a great time. David great host and always ready for a friendly chat and a mine of info about the local area. No toilets or showers but essentially serviced pitches.
Easy access and within a couple of miles of a Sainsbury's and lots of cafe's, pubs, restaurant's etc
Thanks for having us David
Fantastic
Can only echo what others have said here. Stayed here for a week late September / early October. A fantastic site with fully serviced pitches. David the owner couldn't do enough for us on arrival and supplied and connected the plumbing for a continuous water supply. Being new to caravanning and never having had the luxury of a fully serviced pitch was quite a novelty. TV reception was excellent and the noise from the jets wasn't as bad as I was expecting (being ex RAF though wasn't really going to be an issue). Fantastic value for money and we'll definitely be returning this year.
Short but Sweet
I stayed for 2 nights at Wildmere farm at the end of January. Nice friendly welcome by David. told me where everything was and chatted about area and history over a cuppa. Wildmere has Water, EHU to all pitches but does not have toilets or showers but does have a comprehensive visitors room and for £10/night is a bargain. There are plenty of shops etc, within a couple of miles of the site. if you are into planes then the site is great being between the USAF bases at Mildenhall & Lakenheath. RSPB Lakenheath Fen is 15 minute drive away as is SWT Lackford Lakes, both of which are recommended
lovely weekend
Just returned from a lovely weekend at this site site was easy to find
lots of room to have our caravan which way we wanted we had sun all weekend all plots come with hook up drainage and water tap.
The owner did things we have not seen before and that was in the hut was water hoses tv extensions if you need dvds books to borrow and small selection of things to buy plus things for caravan if needed will come again oh and a very friendly owner the owners cat that spent the weekend with us on out canopy carpet outside the caravan
Spring visit
As others have said a grand site, especially having water and drain at each pitch. Plenty of wild life to keep one entertained, with the bird feeders and bird boxes around the site and the goats in the adjacent field. The information room is a real bonus and there are plenty of paths to exercise ones pets straight from the site. There is a Sainsbury's supermarket in Mildenhall and the 2 local petrol stations are comparable in price to any supermarket. There are lots of places of interest not far away including N/T's Wicken Fen and Ickworth. Thetford forest is close by for the walker and off-road cyclist. With friendly owners I'd recommend this site to any who want to visit this area.
Superb Site, Peaceful and Well Equipped.
A wonderful welcome, with the owner showing up to the pitch despite it being cold and dark.
Very friendly welcoming site owner. Spacious site in a beautiful area, off the beaten track.
The electricity and water were convenient and easy to access and the summer house was a real bonus, stocked full of books, games, DVD's souvenirs and more!
We only had a brief stopover but will definitely be back to this CL and highly recommend it to others.
Peaceful setting (except for at 8am when the jets left the nearby base!)
A lovely site with good access and plenty of room so you don't feel cramped by neighbouring units.
Lovely dog walking in the adjacent woods and very peaceful except for the flurry of jets that made their presence known for a short while at about 8am!
Very friendly owners and a site we will happily revisit next time we are in the area.
