Not one we will return to

Well what can we say! We must be at a different CL to the other reviews. Let’s start by saying that the only accurate picture is number 2. There is NO grass in front of the vans as shown in pics one and three. The whole, very small area for 5 vans is situated right next to a very busy and constantly noisy main road. The camping fields look nice and have a lovely view. The bit designated as a cl can’t see the views as weeds grow pretty much everywhere and it’s basically a weed infested car park next to a equally messy scrap area of old farm bits and pieces. Having just come from a superb cl in Dartmoor the difference is palpable. We sent our text to Nicky as requested, giving arrival times. No one there on arrival, just a sign asking you to please drive to house before going in to let owners know you are there. Did this but no one there (get that it’s a working farm) sowet bank ad set up anyway and sent another message telling her this. No response.went out and sent another text saying we were back and eventually walked as to house where someone took money. Also a charge of 2.50 per night per dog?? Not sure what the dogs get for this as there’s not even a decent grass area for them to sit on. Just messy weedy hardstanding that’s not practical or suitable. Vans very close together as well. Think the owners are focused on tents and shepherd hut and caravans seem an afterthought. They could do much to clean up this site and improve it.

Amazing facilities!

What an amazing site. We spent 2 nights here in May 2022 on the hardstanding area. The view was beautiful. It was a rainy few days whilst we were there, so we couldn't take advantage of the local walks or sitting outside; however this was more than made up for by the facilities offered, which are second to none. There is a washing up area with a number of sinks under a wooden canopy. Each pitch has electricity and access to its own water and grey waste point. Some of these are hardstanding on the upper level close to the road, but as this is a minor road it is quiet at night. The absolute bonus is the shower and toilet block. You would be hard pressed to match this in many hotels; spacious, more than enough for all to use, clean, cosy, warm and well maintained. One wall was a huge drying rack with copper piping and plenty of hooks. There was also a room with laundry facilities and a fridge freezer for visitors use. We felt utterly spoilt and reluctant to move on.

3rd visit to this site. Love it.

This was my third visit to the site. Each pitch is serviced and level hardstanding. Close to the road but quiet during the night. Well placed for the places of interest. Facilities are good with a laundry room if needed. I always use Facilities in my van so I haven't used the showers etc but they looked good. Also a dishwasher area now. 5* Hopefuly I will be back for a 4th visit.

Fantastic Site

This is a wonderful site; with a wonderful host. I don't want to repeat everything that other reviewers have posted, but I agree with every word. The toilets, showers and dishwashing areas are all brilliant - far in excess of what you'd normally find in a CL. Clothes washing facilities are good and inexpensive. The various other extras, such as the farm attractions, eggs and so on, are a lovely little feature. Buy some sausages too. The site is well laid out and quiet. Lovely views. There is some road noise during daylight hours, but hardly any noise at night. Being on the edge of Exmoor means the sky is super dark at night and the stars are a sight to be seen. Watching the international space station traverse the sky was an experience. Local attractions are numerous. There is much to do. Finally a word about the hosts. There was a small problem with our pitch being available on arrival. Nicky sorted it quickly with good humour and imagination. Balancing running a busy farm with looking after your camping customers must be difficult, but you wouldn't know it. If I ever go back to North Devon, I'll stay here again.

Excellent site with great facilities

Nicky and Andy are excellent hosts. They sent very helpful information prior to arrival regarding local facilities/walks and places of interest. Very relaxed and easy going. Despite having a busy farm to run nothing was too much trouble and they were always on hand to help with any queries. There is an excellent modern shower block with four walk in shower rooms with toilet and wash hand basin, which are very spacious. There are also an additional three separate toilets. In this block there is a laundry room with washing machine and separate tumble drier. A suggested charge and honesty box is provided. There is a large fridge/freezer with a filtered water/ice cube facility for a nice cool drink on a hot day! Fresh eggs can also be picked up from there, with a suggested charge and honesty box. There is a large, covered washing up area. The five hard-standing, fully serviced CL pitches are well spaced and have a beautiful view over the local reservoir. It was a real treat not having to fill the water hog and empty the waste water. We discovered a local pub (just a few hundred yards away) called the Old Railway Inn, which provided good quality, reasonably priced food. Booking advisable. As it is a working farm it can be a bit noisy at times, but that is because it is a working farm and this did not trouble us at all. The coast was not far away with great walks and Arlington Court, about four miles away, (National Trust) was a lovely day out too. Ideal base for exploring the North Devon area. All in all we enjoyed our stay at Westland Farm (apart from the unseasonal rain at times) and cannot wait to go back again. Would highly recommend. Thank you Nicky and Andy, we look forward to seeing you again soon.

One of the best!

Absolutely brilliant site. Brilliant base and close to all local attractions, seaside towns and villages. Beautiful views towards Wistlandpound Reservoir ( which is a couple mins away in the car and a lovely walk). All fully served, hardstanding pitches. Excellent shower block - 4 showers with toilets and 3 seperate toilets on there own. The toilet block has been done to a very high standard, very clean and the showers are hot. Best shower block we've seen! All very clean. Also includes large undercover pot wash area. All these facilities are shared. Nikki was lovely and so helpful. Will most certainly recommend. Many thanks again, Nikki

Amazing

We have just returned from four days away at this amazing place. What a fantastic place to stay, each pitch has is own water and waste outlet along with beautiful views of the lake and the farm. The facilities were up to date, warm, each shower/ toilet room had a hot towel rail and very hot showers. Bacon, sausages and eggs from the farm were for sale. With these times that we live in Nicky had made the site as safe as you can, hand sanitiser, cleaning products and anti bac where every in the block. Nicki is a busy person, we didn’t get to meet her until our second day, She was warm, welcoming and accommodating, she took time and managed to show us the livestock on the farm but also just chatted about life. If we needed/ wanted anything she was there to help. What you have to take in to account is that it’s a working farm, it has its own uniqueness, it was a restful few days, we took the bus to get about, normally we would have cycled everywhere but the weather wasn’t very kind. So we will be back and thank you for a lovely break.

Great Views - needs a bit of TLC

Great views from the site, 5 hardstanding pitches, each with their own water, waste and EHU. Be aware though that the water points are out of sync with the pitches, so you may find your tap in used by the neighbour when you arrive! Lots of toilets and showers available, which could be fantastic, but are not maintained/cleaned. Also on site eggs and meat and uses of a washer and dryer for a cost. Good location. Overall if some more time was put into the site this could be a brilliant site to visit again.

More for your money!

Pitches are great, hard standing with your own water and waste water pipe! Access to spacious, clean and warm showers! Washing machine and tumble dryer available for a donation! It’s a working farm so pigs, chickens etc. Available to see - you can even collect your own eggs. It is close to a road but we still found it quiet at night. It’s centrally based for all places of interest in the area - great for cycling from!
