Lovely site

We have just returned from a wonderful 8 night stay at this hidden gem of a site. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by the wonderful Mrs Evans who goes out of her way to ensure your stay is excellent from start to finish, even treating all of the campers to home baked scones (with home made jam) on one evening. A lovely tranquil site in a very picturesque location with lots to do in the surrounding area. Cannot recommend highly enough. Will definitely be returning to this site.

Hillside haven

What beautiful surroundings this CL is in, can’t fault the amenities. Toilet and shower spotless, washing machine satellite tv hookup, water next to pitches ideal for us with motorhome just put hose on tap without having to move. all these free of charge. 4G excellent wifi code supplied but I couldn’t get onto it. Some hardstandings slightl slope levelling blocks supplied if you don’t have any. Myfanwy and her family go beyond the bounds to make you feel welcome, she even bought around home baked scones for all the campers delicious. Not sure why other reviewers say they had to pay extra for a driveway awning? We had a huge one which we left in situ when going out never had any problems or extra charges. Area incredible for walking & cycling main access out is on main road which is ok for confident road riders. Lovely babbling brook behind pitches ideal for the dog to have a cool down when hot. communal picnic table with Chimenea logs supplied for a sit down evening social with your neighbours if you wish. Please note this is a working farm so expect some noises there are sheepdogs on the farm and if disturbed bark but soon settle down, we didn’t mind this a it gives us a sense of extra security at the site. Thank you Myfanwy and family for a lovely week, we hope to come back in the near future

Excellent CL

Stayed for 4 nights in a wonderful location. Easy access and plenty of space between pitches. Mrs Evans was very helpful and made us welcome. Sky box provided. Wonderful scenery and lots of walks from the site. This was our first visit here and will definitely go back. One of the best CL’s we have been to.

Another great visit to Ty Cerrig

We've visited Myfanwy and John on 3 occasions now and have always been greeted with a warm welcome. Myfanwy even provided surprise scones for everyone on our first night. A lovely treat after dinner! The site is well located between Barmouth and Bala, which provides a central location for visiting either the seaside or mountains. It a working farm, which always provides entertainment whilst relaxing in the views of the valley, and you have the added bonus of periodic fly pasts of the RAF jet fighters on their training missions during the daytime. The facilities are top notch.....satellite TV hookup and even a loan TV if needed. The shower and toilet block is up a set of stairs in a stand alone block, which are clean and fully serviced for convenience. Reading material and fresh eggs are also available. There is a picnic area and a chimenea for those late evenings under the stars. All this beside a babbling brook and at the foot of a hillside forest. Ideal for mountain bikers that like a challenge. The site was at near capacity when we arrived but our pitch was ready and available, with plenty of space for awning and outdoor dining. As far as we are concerned you couldn't find a nicer CL or a more welcoming couple.

A Fantastic CL Site

We stayed on this beautiful CL site for three nights, wish it was much longer. We will be back. When we arrived we were greeted by the lovely Myfanwy, who was so helpful in arranging a great plot which had its own water and electric hook up, we were spoilt. The showers and WC were about 30 metres away from the plots and they were extremely clean and in good condition. The site is on a working farm which is always a joy for us. We even had the pleasure of watching the sheep being sheared. The surroundings are very beautiful and peaceful, there is a bubbling stream right next to the plots, which is so relaxing and well worth a little paddle. The site is well positioned for accessing local areas, there is a local bus route on the road near to the site. Myfanwy’s husband John gave us information on walks around the local area and there is also an information hut. The welcome from the owners is fab and we were even served the best home made scones and jam as an evening treat. Thank you Myfanwy, they were lovely and we will definitely be back for more.

HOPELESSLY OVERBOOKED AND UNDERMANAGED

We arrived to find 5-units already pitched at the site. The site owner volunteered that she had been overbooking because of no-shows. We were directed to a pitch that was far too close to another unit only then to find that a seventh camper arrived and was placed similarly too close. During our short stay there was at one point 8-units on this small site. Electricity was split around using multi point adapters and the services that should have been available to each pitched were in fact shared. The final straw for us was the owner asking for an additional £10 per night for our driveaway freestanding awning for our campervan because it was not connected to our campervan at all times (when we were out!!!!!!!!). At this point we packed and left site. The issue of over booking has been mentioned in other reviews and we were rather surprised that the CAMC had not addressed this with the owner. We have taken it up separately with the club and will update our review if there are any further developments. We would recommend anyone considering this site to look at the clubs site at Gwern-y-Bwlch which is fairly local to Ty Cerrig and meets all of the standards that would be expected of a CAMC site. If you elect to stay at Ty Cerrig - good luck to you.

birthday treat

Great place to spend my birthday, Great welcome from Myfanwy and John. Peaceful site but still a working farm which enhanced the stay . Great walks over the mountains with unexpected finds such as waterfalls. The facilities are as expected from the information provided. The only thing that let it down were other campers not tidying up after themselves which unless you have a attendant 24/7 , Going in after every visit you can't expect spotless facilities, some self respect is required

Best welcome ever on a CL site

We loved staying here. The location was perfect, the scenery couldn’t be better. It’s a working farm which makes it very interesting. We enjoyed the lambs in the field next to the caravans and the bubbling brook. Our welcome was lovely and a lot of time was taken to ensure that we were happy. Due to COVID we were happy to use our own on board facilities but know that there was a clean toilet and shower available for our use. The site had electric hookup and convenient water and waste disposal. Mrs Evans provided equipment required to use free view if desired. We had friendly help in choosing activities and some lovely fresh eggs. Would definitely visit again.

Okay Coral at best

Ty-Cerrig is a pleasant and peaceful site and is reasonably priced. The owners are very pleasant and welcoming but the site facilities need some work. The one single toilet/shower room is very tired and grubby, and in my opinion, not really acceptable. The shower had little pressure, no shower curtain resulting in wet floors made it a low scoring point. That said, your not expecting the Ritz. In comparison to other sites, I would rate this (out of 5) as 3*, the reduction being due to the support facilities.

Friendly and beautiful area

The Evanses are friendly and welcoming. The site is in a beautiful Welsh valley. It is close to the nearby A road which is convenient for larger motorhomes not wishing to squeeze down narrow country lanes. You can't see the road because of vegetation. Lovely bubbling stream runs by the campsite. We had plenty of space as there were only 2 other vans when we were there in June. You can walk straight from the campsite and we did a 12 mile walk through lovely countryside to Dollgelau and were able to catch a bus back opposite the site (time it carefully though!). Also visited Portmeirion from there which I think was around 45 minutes. The only downside for us was a neighbouring house where the owner's dogs barked a lot. This is nothing to do with the Evanses who were nothing but helpful and friendly, but the noise was a disturbance to us. Otherwise a well kept site with a clean toilet and shower.
