My wife and I recently spent nearly four weeks in this idyllic location.
The owners, Myfanwy and John are the perfect hosts. Once we had put the legs down and got the kettle on we walked the 100 yards to their farm cottage and were greeted by two of the nicest site owners we have had the pleasure of meeting in over 40 years of caravanning. Over the next weeks we often bumped into them as we walked to take a shower and they always had the time to ask if everything was ok and if there was anything else we needed; there wasn't.
The site was impeccably maintained, the grass cut as soon as a caravan or motorhome moved on, the toilet and shower were cleaned every morning by Myfanwy and regularly inspected.
The three off 240v power supply, drinking water and grey water stations were well spaced allowing the caravans a generous privacy gap. The Elsan point was around 80 yards away from the pitching area The location was, as per the title of our review, idyllic. The grass site layout was wide enough so that we could drive down the approach road, pick our spot, pull forward so the front of the caravan faced the panoramic view, unhitch and drive out forward, perfect.
A large quantity of levelling and chocking blocks were available, yards from the pitches if needed.
The view from the front of the caravan was beautiful. A lush green meadow spread out in front of us which formed the perfect foreground to the welsh mountains which gave a natural backdrop on the other side of the wide valley.
Location was perfect for us, approximately half way between Dolgellau and Bala we had access to two beautiful complimentary Welsh towns. Eating out was a handy ten minutes to Dolgellau, weather you wanted a Pub Grub pie and a pint, a bag of chips in the old square, or a high quality restaurant meal this small town offered it.
Barmouth was a short drive away along the Mawdach estuary (One of the most beautiful estuary drives in the UK we think) with many lay byes to stop at, admire the view and get out the flask.
If you are interested in aircraft then this is your site. The Mac loop training valley is around 12 miles from the site, a short pleasant morning drive through the welsh valleys, take a flask, sandwiches and your camera. We saw F15's, Hawks, Ospreys, Texans, Hercules and many other aircraft in our several visits.
Machynlleth is a beautiful market town again a pleasant drive away offering a good selection of shops, pubs and cafes within a typically Welsh stone town.
We were scheduled to stay for three weeks but took an extra week on the spur of the moment ( we are retired) because we simply did not ant to leave.
Very highly recommended. We will definitely be returning to this absolutely idyllic location.
Highly recommended.

Amazing tranquil location with lovely host.
Ty Cerrig is beautiful and perfect for a quite getaway. Myfanwy and John are the most friendliest and kindness people you could ever wish to meet. Myfanwy was very warm and welcoming on arrival. John came down to help us pitch as we have a big twin axel van and he was a great help. The hardstanding pitches are ideal for larger units. As other reviews have said, due to the location the pitches are not tottaly level but with plenty of blocks available this caused us no problems at all (even being a 1700kg and 8.5 meter long unit). The hosts provide a freesat box and lead if you want to use your tv which is brilliant. There is water and electric for each pitch. The site is litturally beautiful, the rural location is just what we wanted. There is lovely views in all directions. The stream running along the pitches adds a lovely ambiance to the location. There is a picnic bench with chiminea and wood provided for fun evenings. The hosts have literally thought of everything to help you enjoy your stay. I can not fault this CL in anyway, it is just perfect and we have loved our 5 nights here. We will definitely be back again.
Excellent CL Site
Another great stay, exactly what we expect of a CL site. Beautiful scenery, quiet and peaceful with a babbling brook, our GSD was well impressed with the local walks, plus within easy reach of the seaside and mountains. Lovely farm setting. Myfanwy and family are very friendly helpful and welcoming, her scones and welsh cakes are legendary. EHU and water on each. A lovely escape from everyday life, much nicer for us than regimented larger sites. Looking forward to another visit soon with the changing seasons...

What a great stay at Ty Cerrig. Accomodated our large Motorhome with ease! A really friendly reception and beautiful location. We will definitely visit again when next in the area and look forward to talking to Myfanwy and family in Welsh as I now live in England and don't get the opportunity on a daily basis.
SOFT, SLOPING GROUND AND STILL OVERBOOKING
This site is NOT SUITABLE for a big motor home. We arrived in wet conditions and were closely followed by another motor home, number 6! Nobody in at the farm so we tried to pitch. The ground was very soft and wet, with a 2-way slope. No flat spots at all and the hard stands were occupied by small camper vans. We needed our tall ramps but they cut into the grass under our weight and we slid off sideways, with one ramp getting trapped underneath. What a nightmare! At this point the other motor home left, wisely. My husband was lying on the grass in pouring rain trying to jack up the van when the farmer's son drove past and ignored us. I had to go and ask him for help and he admitted that there'd been trouble previously with large motor homes. Eventually managed to move onto a hard stand when camper van left and we'd had some drier weather. Even the hard stands sloped noticeably. We were accused of being inexperienced by a far from friendly Mrs Evans. No apology offered. We've driven 55,000 miles over 9 years, visited numerous CLs and NEVER been expected to pitch on such awful ground. Should it really matter how much experience a visitor has had? A responsible CL owner will know the limitations of their ground and be there to advise a suitable place to pitch. To add insult to injury, the toilet was up a dozen or so stone steps (through a junk room), the satellite leads didn't work, nor the code given for the wifi. A disgraceful set-up which the Club really needs to investigate.

Two night stay
The site is located near the Bala-Dolgellau road with beautiful views of the surrounding hills and mountains in all directions. The pitches are fully serviced and connections available to access Freesat TV as the position makes reception otherwise difficult. Myfanwy is very friendly and welcoming and cannot do enough to make your stay comfortable. The farm lies amid a number of walks on the surrounding hills or towards Bala via the Mary Jones walk. We will be back!
First rate cl
Our second time of visiting and as per usual the site was spotless all week. Kept in tip top condition. The Evans family are some of the nicest people you will ever meet and will do their utmost to make your stay enjoyable. This is an ideal spot if you want to just unwind and relax. Very very little light pollution and road noise. Thanks Myfanwy for your brilliant hospitality.
Amazing
Never normally leave reviews, but such a lovely place it deserves one ! we stayed for 3 nights, Mrs Evans is such a lovely lady & an amazing host π nothing at all to fault, canβt wait to go back & we definitely will π
Fantastic and Friendly
We stayed here for 7 nights in end of July 2021 and had a brilliant time. Myfanwy and her family couldn't be more helpful or welcoming. We were welcomed on arrival and discussed various places to visit and things to do.
The site runs alongside the farm drive which sees little traffic. Some parts of the site are on a gently slope but there are ample leveling blocks available. There are water taps next to each EHUP. There is plenty of space for a car and awning on each pitch. The views across the valley are stunning. There is a little mountain stream that flows the other side road which is excellent entertainment for children (need to be supervised). There is a very clean toilet and shower unit in one of the farm stone buildings along with a fridge a freezer and farm eggs for sale. Myfanwy's family were incredibly generous throughout our stay letting our children explore the farm and surrounding fields. There are chickens and friendly pet sheep to keep children entertained.
The surrounding area has a huge amount of attractions within 45 mins drive. The beaches at Barmouth and Fairborne are well worth a visit.
I cannot recommend this site enough. A great little gem. We will defiantly be going back
