Great Stay, despite the challenges!

I was welcomed by Judy upon my arrival and I was able to collect the eco friendly organic toilet fluid. The site is quiet and peaceful, although there is some road noise from the main road. The shower is hot with a good shower head clean which then provides a good flow. Bus stop is close by for buses into Weymouth and Dorchester, although Dorchester is less than 2 miles away. It isn't until there is a problem and how it is resolved that gives the true measure of any organisation. Having hitched up and about to leave the car broke down, alternator failure, rendering me totally immobile. The RAC arrived but were both unable to fix it and to recovery it there and then for repair. I spoke to Judy and there was no issue about staying for another night before being towed home the following day. Convenient for everywhere that I wanted to go, would be happy to stay again with the family.

Another lovely visit.

We have just returned from another lovely stay at The Manor House CL site. We are never disappointed when we visit. The site is peaceful, clean and has a great atmosphere. Dorchester is five minutes away and there are interesting places to visit in and around this charming town. We relax as soon as we arrive and look forward to our next trip.

Location location

A lovely CL located just of a main road giving easy access yet not too much noise. Short walk to good bus service to both Dorchester & Weymouth and easy walking to the top of maiden castle giving great views over the surrounding countryside. Just of an old working farm yard yet peaceful and interesting offering all the usual facilities including disabled toilets and showers. We received a very warm and helpful greeting from the owners who couldn’t have been more helpful, and don’t miss the short walk to view the lovely peaceful old church.

Lovely rustic peaceful CL

Lovely CL with easy access and surrounded by great countryside and walks from the site. Friendly owner who greeted us and provided useful information about walks from the site. Nice clean shower and toilet facilities. Handy location for accessing South Dorset. Would thoroughly recommend.

Gem of a CL, in a great location with the perfect hosts

So glad we found this place. Lovely little CL nestled into the valley under the Maiden Hill Fort. Checking availability via the CL booking app was easy and great communications from Judy made the booking simple. We only stayed the one night but will definitely be back. Judy was very welcoming on arrival, and keeps the site and facilities immaculate. Pitches are large and flat, ehu and tv aerial cable provided in pitch fee. Shower and toilets are spacious, clean and warm (great for a winter stay). Yes it’s a working farm but no noise or disturbances during our stay, in fact it was beautifully peaceful. Chris and Judy, you have yourselves a gem of a CL and well worth all the hard work you have clearly put in to make it what it is. Thank you.

A working farm with fantastic facilities and lovely walks from the site

The manor house site is a pretty field on a working farm, easily accessed from the Dorchester to Weymouth Road. The owner Judy is very welcoming and communication regarding payment, directions and where to pitch was great. Judy couldn't possibly have done more to make us feel welcome The water and disposal areas were well kept and there is an information chalet which has plenty of useful tourist information. There are two hard standings which could be useful in winter or wet weather. There is a modern toilet/shower room just across the lane which were maintained and spotlessly clean. The code for the door was communicated prior to arrival but was also listed in the information hut. Television reception was good and each pitch were provided with a cable to ensure good connection Dorchester is only a mile or so away with a large Tesco’s nearby to ensure you don’t run out of anything. Weymouth is easily accessible as is Thomas Hardy’s birthplace and National Trust properties. Maiden Castle Iron Age Hill fort is just behind site, it’s a short walk from the site to the entrance and around it is a great circular walk. There is some road noise from the A354 but not enough to detract from a lovely bank holiday stay. Definitely a place we will return too

Lovely CL in Dorset countryside

Have stayed on this CL twice in the last few months and both times throughly enjoyed ourselves. Judy (owner) is very welcoming and communication re payment, direction and where to pitch was great. Lovely area so scenic. If feeling fit Maiden castle hill fort is just behind site, Weymouth or Dorchester are a bus ride away. One point though traffic noise especially at rush hour and early morning but would certainly recommend this site.

Superb location for a winter visit

This lovely quiet site is located at the base of Maiden Castle just outside Dorchester making it ideal for exploring the area. The site has two spacious hard standing pitches available all year round as well as a paddock for summer. There is a toilet/ shower room across the yard which includes a seat for disabled users. The information hut on site had lots of information about the area including times for local buses to Dorchester and Weymouth. The bus stop is a five minute walk away on the main road with buses every 20 minutes. Dorchester is well worth a visit for its many museums. We particularly enjoyed the Dorset Museum which has a wide range of exhibits from natural history to Roman mosaics and a nice cafe). We also did a mountain bike ride to the Hardy Monument which had lovely views across Dorset farmland and to Portland (car park by monument if you fancy a less energetic visit). The site is very dark at night to ensure you bring a torch if venturing out after dark. A lovely peaceful site which is definitely worth a return visit.

Working farm site handy to lovely walks cycles and coast

The manor house site is a pretty field on a working farm , easily accessed from the Dorchester to Weymouth rd. Very quiet as hardly any through traffic. Judy, the host, is very helpful and accommodating. They have recently put in two large level concrete hardstandings to allow the site to be used year round. The toilet and wet room shower facilities are very modern and well maintained in a stone building . We have stayed twice now and have walked and cycled from the site. The south dorset ridgeway walk to Hardy’s monument is accessible and even nearer is the magnificent Maiden castle with a footpath just at the rear of the site, Dorchester & Weymouth are both easily accessible . There is a large Tesco's at walking distance. We enjoyed all the bird life around the farm from Tawny owls to longtailed tits and sparrow hawks . For more birdwatching Lodmoor and Radipole reserves are easy to reach in Weymouth . Chesil beach and Portland bill are an easy drive .
